Level 65 with a PUG amazingly enough; it took us almost an hour but it was good fun! One gorn was even going melee the entire time! I also got 40+ levels on two other occasions as well. I'm hoping for the 101 but doubt it will happen with a PUG.

Felisean did an awsome job with the Sompek guide of the STO-Lague which is very comprehensive. Take especially a close look at the kit modules!!! Of course it helps best if all in team follow it so it is a bit hard to implement in pugs. On another run my fleet mates and I made it to 89 again but died because of some mess ups. Practise surely helps too!

If you like, @risian4, we try it together later if we manage to assemble a good team. I‘d love to get and display “The Glorious” title for my Starfleet Klingon toon. We have met you in various pug runs over the years and you can surely do it. :)

Thanks Peter. I prefer not to look at guides to be fair :p but I appreciate the offer.

Today I got to somewhere mid-60's in a PUG and with some people from TSC we got to 65 or 66 earlier... I think I'll keep trying PUGs for a while, would be fun to make it to round 100 with a random team :)

    Sure have it your way!

69 and just missing out title for 70 was the last time I gave it a serious try in pugs. It’s not as if this map would not challenge even teams of experienced players as it is. Lack of teamwork and team mates not bringing in the right tools for the tasks is the greatest obstacle in there as far as I can tell.

In any case I wish you luck. Making 101 in a pug run would indeed be glorious. :)

I've gotten to round 21 and that was the farthest I've gotten. (Please note: I am a Science officer, so what I can use for kit modules is very limited). We fought the Neural parasites and then the Iconians and Cardessians came along, and we died then. I have played in some teams where, 1 person is always dead 90 % of the time, but it isn't to bad: usually. Just as a side note it would be nice if the Arena gave more loot than what it does, because the only thing I've gotten so far is a disruptor compression pistol.

Science officers have great kit modules for Sompek.

Triage: provides heal for yourself and nearby teammates. With the extremely fast animation and relatively quick cooldown, you can run by teammates, fire a few shots at enemies, heal them, and keep running to your next target.

Paradox Bomb: Groups enemies and also the animation waves let you know where other enemies are.

Cold Fusion Flash: Roots and Damages (paradox bombed grouped) enemies

Exothermic Induction: Incinerates (the grouped and rooted) enemies. With a couple doffs, you can both reduce the cooldown AND have exothermic launch fire balls that target nearby enemies not in the induction field.

I like endothermic induction, especially when paired with a cold gun. It damages and increase the damage that cold does to enemies. endo a group then Cryo pulse to the FACE!

Level 56 this time around. I was glad it finished as that took a lot of time, and the constant struggle with these powers that refuse to respond makes this game feel so clunky it's ridiculous. Some of my toons have the title "The Worthy" from first time around, reaching to level 110.

I’ll be around this weekend so if we can get a good team together I’d love to give it another try. :)

It’s cool that you are familiar with NWS! Sompek also favors some discrete gear choices and has similar rules. It’s fascinating how well the map plays when already parts of a team use the recommended stuff. The players can also establish total control of the simulation by keeping the last critter(s) of a respective difficulty alive. That way a team can approach the next setting ready meaning with all abilities CDed. Of particular interest is the respawn timer here. It’s quiet a difference if peeps have 40 seconds on it summed up or can respawn instantly when they reach a higher setting around 100.

Sadly many players refuse to take the suited gear. Even DPSer have the tendency of wanting to parse high in log instead of seeing to it that the team approaches the next levels in a ready condition.

For those guys around here interested in beating it I have highlighted some of the gear choices from Felisean’s guide that seemed to have contributed most during my runs:

    General
Phasic Shroud (Infinity Lockbox, awesome to survive)
Crystalline Spike (Crystalline Event or Phoenix Prize Box, useful for everyone)
Take Cover (command Specialization, one or two per Team, +high damage resistance)
    Paradox Bomb (Temporal Specialization)
    Hammer and Anvil (Command Specialization)
    Return Fire (Command Specialization)
    Feign Desintegration (Intel Specialization)

    Tactical
    Motivation (two per team)
Rally Cry (every tactical in the team)
Trajectory Bending (if you have room for it)
Graviton Spike (Summer Event, if you have room for it)
    Overwatch

    Science
Seismic Agitation Field (Summer Event Store)
    Cold Fusion Flash (Lockbox)
Endothermic Induction Field (Winter Event Store)
Nanite Health Monitor (R&D, Heal, +damage resistance)
Maybe some of the Heals not sure and some of the Universal Modules

    Engineer
    Chroniton Mines
    Explosive Drone
Quantum or Neutronic Mortar (with Explosive Expert Doff to get a chance for 2 additional Mortar)
    Seeker Drone
Medical Generator (best with doff to have a chance to get a Shield Generator too)
    Flamethrower Turret
    Echo Papa Drone
Bio-Harmonic Emitter (temporal reputation project, teamwide temp hp buff, pretty strong)

Nukara Reinforcements – Elite Reprogrammed Drones (Nukara Reputation, could be used out of Inventory); They take also quiet some pressure of the team. The whole thing looks quite differently if all in team have those.

    Specialization:

We used Temporal as Primary and Commando as Secondary. Other Combinations with Commando should work too

I think the developers should make an AFK version of the game. You queue for the mission, wait for the 10 min timer to run out and collect your token.

I think you have confused the Cryonic Grenade (Tactical Module) with Endothermic Induction Field (Science).

Endothermic does not reduce cold resistance.

I do love the enemies doing the 'Irish Jig' after I hit them with a Paradox Bomb. They are not 'The Lords of the Dance', however. :)

While I'm in no position to argue against Felisean's advice, I personally prefer Metaphasic rejuvenation on my Sci. The ability to instantly revive at least one fellow player has saved me on a number of occasions. It's not a module you'll end up using a lot and some might consider it wasting a module slot therefore, but it can make a difference.

I also use Hyperonic radiation and Exothermic induction field. Some doffs allow for cooldown reductions on both, as well as resistance reduction with some Biochemists for hyperonic radiation. It also has an expose effect which can be useful when you use split beam rifles.

I'm glad they fixed the Chroniton mines for engineers. Was very annoying that I couldn't use them last time. I've also considered the Intel module Sonic Supression Field. Based on the stats, it seems very useful in terms of damage potential. But I definitely agree that going too offensive isn't the right choice for Sompek. Sometimes I get a team with Sci's who seem to have zero healing abilities. That's just strange to me. The Command modules you listed are also very good suggestions.
  • risian4risian4 Member Posts: 3,711 Arc User
Oh and for completeness, Metaphasic rejuvenation comes from the Terran reputation btw.

I'm full team support specked with Hive Mind, Pack Leader, Coalition Squad Tactics, and Self Modulating Shot with all you listed but the Gaviton. I have the CTE instead and Coordinated Efforts as well as Strike Team and piercing... My support is Tac Team of course and Echo Papa! Sadly I'm not ground specialized - yet... I'm working on CMD but it will take some time... I've not used any extras from the rep race such as Shadow Guard or Strike Team or the Elite Drones as you mentioned as I did not want to waste such things on PUGs given the cost for 60 seconds but if we do a premade I'll pick some up for sure...

The players can also establish total control of the simulation by keeping the last critter(s) of a respective difficulty alive. That way a team can approach the next setting ready meaning with all abilities CDed. Of particular interest is the respawn timer here. It’s quiet a difference if peeps have 40 seconds on it summed up or can respawn instantly when they reach a higher setting around 100.

Sadly many players refuse to take the suited gear. Even DPSer have the tendency of wanting to parse high in log instead of seeing to it that the team approaches the next levels in a ready condition.

For those guys around here interested in beating it I have highlighted some of the gear choices from Felisean’s guide that seemed to have contributed most during my runs:

    General
Phasic Shroud (Infinity Lockbox, awesome to survive)
Crystalline Spike (Crystalline Event or Phoenix Prize Box, useful for everyone)
Take Cover (command Specialization, one or two per Team, +high damage resistance)
    Paradox Bomb (Temporal Specialization)
    Hammer and Anvil (Command Specialization)
    Return Fire (Command Specialization)
    Feign Desintegration (Intel Specialization)

    Tactical
    Motivation (two per team)
Rally Cry (every tactical in the team)
Trajectory Bending (if you have room for it)
Graviton Spike (Summer Event, if you have room for it)
    Overwatch

    Science
Seismic Agitation Field (Summer Event Store)
    Cold Fusion Flash (Lockbox)
Endothermic Induction Field (Winter Event Store)
Nanite Health Monitor (R&D, Heal, +damage resistance)
Maybe some of the Heals not sure and some of the Universal Modules

    Engineer
    Chroniton Mines
    Explosive Drone
Quantum or Neutronic Mortar (with Explosive Expert Doff to get a chance for 2 additional Mortar)
    Seeker Drone
Medical Generator (best with doff to have a chance to get a Shield Generator too)
    Flamethrower Turret
    Echo Papa Drone
Bio-Harmonic Emitter (temporal reputation project, teamwide temp hp buff, pretty strong)

Nukara Reinforcements – Elite Reprogrammed Drones (Nukara Reputation, could be used out of Inventory); They take also quiet some pressure of the team. The whole thing looks quite differently if all in team have those.

    Specialization:

We used Temporal as Primary and Commando as Secondary. Other Combinations with Commando should work too

I sent you an invite to the chat of my comunity. It's an PvE oriented group of 500+ peeps. We made it for our fleets, armada and friends. Pls join it so we can hopefuly get a team together. The OP joined as well. :)

Feel free to contact me in game. I want to get the accolade on my Protege toon(s)...

I’ll be around this weekend so if we can get a good team together I’d love to give it another try. :)

It looks pretty much how i have equipped my characters with some minor differences. I have never really considered the command modules though.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

No not yet sorry, but im sure they work as well in there. Using those pets at the start of a new level takes a great deal of pressure from the team. Reason why I fovor the drones was cuz they dont consume a slot on the toon and can be used from inventory. :)

The Nukara Support Drones have 10 charges for 1.5k dil or so and they could save your TRIBBLE. But try not to spawn them during lightning phase especially direclty into a lightning, it would be a short fun :D

And for the modules itself, its just a summary of usefull stuff not a specific build. always depend on what you want, but the temp hp stuff was pretty strong, especially for waves higher than 108 ^^

Yeah I'm also a bit surprised by that fact to be honest. It doesn't say anywhere that there are 10 charges but if that's true, then it definitely makes them more interesting. Makes me wonder why it's not in the description.

I never bothered with those projects because they take more resources than you'll ever collect during one STF meaning you're looking at a net loss of resources every time you use them - and because I avoid consumables in general. But them having 10 charges means that it could actually be worth it to buy some. Especially for Sompek, for which an exception may be worth it anyway :)

what are your thoughts on the Romulan and Reman versions?

I like endothermic induction, especially when paired with a cold gun. It damages and increase the damage that cold does to enemies. endo a group then Cryo pulse to the FACE!
I think you have confused the Cryonic Grenade (Tactical Module) with Endothermic Induction Field (Science).

Endothermic does not reduce cold resistance.
Maybe. I use both of them a lot.

reman and romulam are weaker, the tholians (one of them) has the stun puttting an enemy into that orange field. that could save your TRIBBLE or disable heavy enemies

I have the same thinking... Consumables are a lost cause to me so I generally avoid them like the plague. My thinking has changed however given the new information.... Also being able to use from the inventory is a boon to be sure...

I've found VR Doctor DOFFs help Medical Tricorder and Vascular Regenerator provide "healing" well over level 80.
