that middle choice is a false one, because cryptic won't stop releasing expansions until the game is dead
I think the option is more referring to the fact that cryptic has been less than stellar lately with respect to the 3rd Expansion.
Agents of Yesterday was basically an introduction to an alternate start Fed choice (restricted to the four core species, given a tutorial and about 5 missions before being released to the rest of the Fed story), 3 Temporal missions that jump around in place as you play them (one being a Kelvin Timeline arc, firmly and 2 final episodes that close out the Future proof story arc, plus a Temporal spec and Reputation. We get a TOS style sector map, but it gets tossed out after we head to the 25th century.
Delta Rising in comparison gave us the level cap raise to 60, T6 ships, Specializations, Upgrade system with the capability of taking most items to Mark XIV gold (partially got released prior to full Delta Rising release), The Delta Alliance Reputation, Kobali Adventure Zone, a permanent area of space to travel (the Delta Quadrant), and 12 actual epiosdes (with the Kobali missions counting as actual portions of 3 Acts). Delta Rising felt like a big expansion.
Legacy of Romulus when compared to Agents of Yesterday also gave us quite a bit of stuff. We got a mid level curve adventure zone (Nimbus), 5 new cross faction episodes which take place on said adventure zone, 4 new Klingon replayable episodes, 2 non-replayable Klingon episodes (older characters have access to these), 20 Romulan episodes and the entire Romulan faction, plus the Nukara Reputation. also allowed the Klingons to start properly at level 1. This was our first expansion but it also felt pretty big.
Maybe they're working on something big now, but we won't know until maybe STLV this year.
Yes, would love an expansion to the Gamma quadrant
Yes, I want a Gamma Quadrant expansion.
Personally, I hope it comes in the form of a Dominion faction content update, so I can finally have my Authentic Jem'Hadar and play through a Dominion based storyline.
Playable Vorta and Vorta BOFFs would also be nice.
I assume we'd never get to play as Founder/Changeling.
Would Wadi and Dosi also be possibilities for playable GQ species?

4 mostly enthusiastic yes options, and only 1 no option. Biased poll is biased. My vote would be "sure, why not" as I'm not terribly enthusiastic about it, but wouldn't mind either as long as it came with significantly more mission content than the AoY "expansion".
Dominion ships approaching DS9 does not necessarily indicate an invasion.
The Son'a threatened us with their "connections to the Dominion" in the latest Featured Episode. Then there was ominous music as well as a cinematic style reminiscent of "The 2800" arc. It has all the hallmarks of another war.
I was dreading this after the Son'a name-dropped the Dominion.
It's still possibly misleading, could be they are fleeing a terrible enemy (as someone said before I think) (perhaps T'kets work, possibly via Hur'q or something else) as well through the wormhole after being routed. Although that could seem out of character for them, though I never paid a ton of attention to the dominion and their tendencies. I really hope it's not another Dominion war, that just seems a bland repeat plot to me, I want more brand new threats instead.

And part of what makes STO work, is that you *don't* pay for expansions. I pay enough for Lobi gear and the Upgrade System, thank you.
