Space/ground skill and specialization problem

I recently started a new Klingon Borg character with an XP bonus, and got them up to level 50 without training any space or ground skills. After doing so I used the event token to get up to level 60, and now I cannot train any skills or specializations. Under normal circumstances I would consider deleting and restarting this character, however it had the Boost which helped a ton along with the extra gear, and Ferengi nandi ship. So I really do not want to get rid of it. I even went as far as buying a Captain retrain token from the c store which I cannot use, and didn't need, because I already have them with my lifetime membership. What I think is most strange is that when I look at the skill trees, above them I see a "Y" button which looks like it belongs on the Xbox. I'm hoping there's something you guys can do to help me out here, because I've spent a lot of time and money on this game and don't want to be discouraged by something so stupid. I'd appreciate any help or insite anyone could offer.

If pressing triangle to retrain doesn't work, please submit a customer service ticket through Arc.

Not the OP but in my case that is exactly what happened. The skill tree was just 2 days old, did not see any new update and thus it is highly probable that the box is causing the invalidity of the tree.

I have contacted support and I'm hoping they can resolve this issue soon.

I've tried pressing the triangle button, to no avail, and I've put in a ticket to customer service, still stuck here with no skills.

Is there anything I can do to fix or at least prevent this in the future?
You should have the triangle button work at some point after logging in and out and in again with the toon, but ultimately this needs a fix, because it is getting worse, or different. Friend of mine finished a toon later and he said it's not the box, the character already bugged when reaching level 50, before using the boost. Also, he actually skilled the toon during leveling, so it's not the lack of putting points causing the "invalid skill tree" to come up.
In your case, try to spend some points next time as early as possible, not having any points may cause the retrain option not to come up since there are on skills to take away from the tree. Ultimately, however, this needs to be fixed with an update/patch from the devs' side. Not much the players can do, except for providing information.
