Devs, Tier 5-U or Tier 6 Miranda Class Starship ?

combatpac1combatpac1 Member Posts: 6 Arc User
With the recent release of the Tier 6 Constitution class starship, it seems appropriate to release a Tier 5-Upgrade or Tier 6 version of the Miranda Class Starship. These two classes of starship have always been comparable in firepower in Star Trek canon, although the Miranda class was slightly smaller in size.

It seems to be appropriate to release the Tier 5-Upgrade or Tier 6 Miranda Class starship in the C-Store or in a upcoming lock box, with an updated model corresponding to the USS Reliant/ USS Brattain. This ship should also have "skins" for a TOS version, as well as the USS Saratoga (NCC-31911) variant. This would also follow along the lines of the recent Temporal Agent game expansion ships and the Undiscovered lock box Tier 6 23rd century Dreadnought starship.

Something like the Merian Class (Since they already have the Vesta, another Mark Rademaker design in the game) as the T6 Miranda with the original Miranda skin too.

Well, there will definitely not be a T5u version of the Miranda since a T5 does not exist.

As for a T6 version, one can only hope....

I could go for a tier six update to the Light cruiser (Miranda, ShiKahr, and the Centaur), and/or the heavy cruiser (Cheyenne, Dakota, and the Stargazer).

I completely agree with combatpac1. I think that it is only fair to have the Miranda brought back to be a T6 ship just as the NX and the constitution have. Even the Oberth would be pleasant as a T6 ship as i think it was underrated so a T6 version, with a decent console to boost exotic damage for example, could have so much potential. Not only by bringing back the old T1 ships would satisfy many player's requests but it is also bringing back classic ships from early Star Trek which in my opinion, if they are brought out to have good statistics just like the other ships currently available, the Miranda (and the Centaur and ShiKhar) and the Oberth will be purchased, built, flew and loved well by the many players who regularly play Star Trek Online and want to explore strange new worlds in an updated, upgraded version of a fan favorite ship.

I don't care for a T6 Miranda since the Nebula fulfils that role for me. Even the Akira could considered it's predecessor and the new T6 Vesta with the sensor palette.

However, this type of post should also be in the FCT. There's a new one every month!!

I support the idea of a T6 Miranda in whatever form it may take. All canon ships, all at endgame quality.

Ah, Tier 6 Centaur. It's my favorite kitbash ever. And hey, they got a modernization for the Dominion War, so there should be lots of hulls still lying around.

They said that about the Constitutions (both universes), the D-7, the T'liss, the T'Varo, and the NX.

    And guess what?! ;)

I think the tier system should be revamped. Take what ever ship you want be it a Constitition, Miranda, etc. Then you upgrade your ship tier by tier.

Ya know that would be a cool idea use upgrade tokens to upgrade your ship tier by tier to T5U, that way if you have a favorite ship you dont have to leave it because of its lower tier.

I'm all for a T6 Miranda. Thomas Marrone mentioned wanting to update the TMP Enterprise, so maybe the Miranda could get an update at the same time, if he gets the opportunity.

As to upgrading ships, I would think that would kill ship sales. What they could do, I suppose, would be to separate ship skins from the spaceframe, categorize them, and sell them separately. Restricting certain skins to certain frames, ex) escort skins to escort frames, large cruiser skins like the Galaxy couldn't be used on a smaller cruiser like the Excelsior, etc.

Agreed! If nothing else, the Miranda and the other "starting" ships are in desperate need of a model upgrade, just to bring them up to the standards set - as far as level of detail is concerned - by the rest of the ships in the game that have been updated since launch.

I mean, they're the first thing that new players get to see as far as ship models, and they really don't represent the commitment to quality that Cryptic has established for the art and look of the game.

Agreed - at this point it's pretty much 'no holds barred' in terms of (T6) ship possibilities.

Off-Topic for a second, but have to say was great to meet you in-game a few days ago :)

OH! That was you? Coolies :)

100% support T6 Miranda, ShiKhar, and Centaur along with the Heavy Cruiser and the Oberth.

Now that we've opened the door for the T6 Connie, let's just go ahead and allow players to select their favorite ship(s) and outfit to play at end game.

A Remastered Movie Era Connie (for those who have a T6 Connie) alongside a remastered T6 Miranda (with TOS Miranda (that thing is cute) and 25c Skin (Probably similar to the T6 Excelsior)) would be nice. Probably as a 4-4 Warship type (to keep it's ability to equip cannons, as well as the lighter nature of it).

If you can't solve it logically, solve it like a moron.

51 + 1 Foundry Character Slots is NOT enough. Some of us love our characters. If I want to buy more character slots, why can't I? I couldn't experience the entire Delta Recruitment event without deleting a character.

The Iconians themselves can't time travel because their memories revert, but there is nothing to say an Iconian couldn't write everything she needed to do on a PADD, pin it to herself, travel back, read the PADD, do the tasks and return. Or just get one of her Non-Herald underlings to go back in time for her.

Want a Star Trek themed starship command fan-made Board Game that isn't fiendishly complicated but not so easy it's a joke? Download mine for free here. https://roebot56.deviantart.com/art/BOARD-GAME-R56-s-Starship-Command-STAR-TREK-Edn-682732468 A Stargate version of the game is available from a link in the description.

Oh yeah, I do Foundry missions for both KDFs and Feds. Just search KSTF (Short for Kinas Special Task Force, where Kinas is the name of the Admiral you will be serving under). The earlier ones are less story based and more combat based, while the later ones have a much heavier story element, but keep the large battles.

Well they could even go with making a few new ships that would be the end result of attempts to update these old designs, or creating a new ship line that took over the duties/roles the old lower tier ships held. Than having these new ship lines could use the old parts of the ships they had come from. Kinda like how some of the tier six temporal ships can use the design/parts of the older ships in their line, which might be an idea of creating another temporal pack of three ships of another groups of ships. Like maybe make it that we get a temporal heavy and/or light cruiser, a temporal light science vessel, and for the escort maybe the Saber/Rapier/Ushaan or even the patrol escort (might be too new in the scheme of the canon though.)

My other question would be what would we want to see for the console, and even starship trait that such ships would bring?

Personally, I wouldn't change how consoles are handled. If you want a console offered on a specific ship only, then you have to purchase that ship the same as always. Everything else is on the market

The T6 Miranda is NEVER COMING. And it certainly won't be coming this month, nor will it feature a Pilot specialization seat and be bundled with KDf and RRF Light Battlecruisers.

    ...so just give up now.

With the remaining two tier 1 Fed ships the Miranda and the Oberth, I think it is more likely that a T6 Miranda will get a lockbox release since it's a TOS ship, while a T6 Oberth will get a c-store release since it's a TNG ship.

Honestly, there's no reason why there shouldn't be a T6 version of every early tier ship in the game, barring some special lockbox conditions. It's not like they have to make any resources for them. It's the same model. It just has a few different numbers.

The only reason why they aren't all dumped into the game already is probably to stretch out C-store sales as they're introduced.
