I love the carrier pet ai....
Nothing like my carrier pets wondering as if blindfolded and lost in an open field....
Mobulai on my Narcine.... I guess the analogy should be blindfolded fishies swimming in circles and a vast body of water....
Either way, I love the new ai... It is as wonderful as Delta Rising.

In, in a vast body of water.... seems the Pet ai has taken over my typing.
"Khan Noonien Singh is the most dangerous adversary the Enterprise ever faced. He is brilliant, ruthless,
and he will not hesitate to kill every single one of you."
I believe Cryptics definition of "fixed" is a bit more like: "Having been fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece or in working order" because they didn't fix shiiiitt lol.
yeah, uh huh. And now they're doing nothing but playing "Catch Up" and they keep wandering off, or just plain stopping, wont activate full impulse and so on. At this very point, they're utterly useless. In 3 queues my pets haven't entered combat once because they're always left behind. Maybe it doesn't affect every pet, but it affects scorpions though not as bad as Callisto Escorts, or Sphere Builder Arehbes Frigate.
Before the last skill revamp my advanced Plesh Breks could clear the map on normal with me following them to heal them if needed, on advanced I'd have to join in, elite they would die regularly despite my best efforts.
After the skill revamp I just had to keep within 15K of the targets in normal, advanced I'd have to do the odd bit of healing, elite I'd still have to join in but they didn't die as often as they used to.
Now they can do normal and advanced with little to no help from me, haven't tried elite yet, but I suspect I'll still have to join in, but I expect to still have some of the frigates at the end that I started with.
No idea if they lag behind because I always hit the recall button after all hostiles are dead, and they are usually all back in the hanger in under 10 seconds.
I've said it before but it really depends on what hanger you are using as to how good or bad they are. My Breen frigates work well for me, but the fighters are bad, they will kill things just don't bother recalling them as they can't find the hanger, or follow you. They aren't as bad as those epoch fighters from the 31st century ships, that hanger is just broken, they will fight and some of them can even dock, but once they have docked the rest wont dock and you can't get the ones that did dock back out.
Well mine aren't even going into battle unless launched at point blank range.... If you launch them on top of your target, then I see they do well, but if you expect them to follow you, they do not.
So they do more damage, but if they don't move with you, they are useless. In escort mode, they don't escort they get lost.
In attack mode, they don't attack unless you launch them on top of your target.
So yippee, they tweaked the damage, but they made them worse at moving with the carrier...
It's a fail in my book, but then I expect things to actually work, something that rarely happens when STO is involved.
"Khan Noonien Singh is the most dangerous adversary the Enterprise ever faced. He is brilliant, ruthless,

Thanks for the testing result. I guess I need to recall them when I move more than a short distance.
Actually, I will just go to a ship without them. A ship where I don't have to worry about recall and don't have to worry about an ai that has failed, yet again, to do as it should.
You can see by my post total that I rarely post, but this just irritated the TRIBBLE out of me.
I guess I will head back to my lil world and accept the TRIBBLE STO throws at us.
Thank you sirs, may I have another?
The beatings will continue until morale improves. STO motto.

(recalling them might be an option, if it doesn't leave you a fight behind in any of the pug queues where you need to stay at full impulse or the groups are dead before you reach them.)
Pet recall is something I've found varies by ship, some will get docked no bother almost every time whereas others will mess about bumping into whatever they can. My guess is they are trying to dock with a point thats inside the ship model just far enough that the angle of interaction is too narrow for the inept pets to cope with. Least problematic of pets that can't keep up seem to the be baltims as they have their warp jump thing that they do out of combat.
I've also seen issues where if they dock in the wrong order, left to right in the pet ui thing, then they can get confused and not dock. Sometimes spamming the recall order is required.
Crazy thing is for fighters docking there is a solution, the ship transports them into the bay the way picard, data and scorpion got rescued in nemesis. Or the various times they did something similar to shuttles in voyager.
Frigates just need to have some engines installed rather than being propelled by ejecting tribbles out the aft airlocks.
Wondering if keech is censorred...
I wont speak about their combat behavior since I never really had any problems in that case nor about their survivability.
I can say though that their Full Impulse "work" but seems too slow to keep up with the T6s' Engine ...its as if their were "Full Impulsing" using a T1 Engine so simply go slower then me and cant catch up. Everytime I go to Full Impulse, I see them poping up something that gives a red glow with a sound coming with it but they just keep falling behind.
For the docking part, they do seem to dock but Im not even 100% sure. What I mean by that is that I have to go to a full stop, wait 10 secs or more and sometimes 2 or 3 of them will seem to dock ...but it doesnt work all the time ...though it does work more than before the update.
The Patch Notes do NOT speak of any AI behavior ...just about combat stats increase and abilities so I dunno if they even bothered doing anything to it yet Im sure I read on their "Upcoming season 13 notes" a month or so ago that they would because I was hyped that they finally would fix it so I dunno...
With that said, they are quite resilient and rarely ever die, even on Elite Difficulty mode.
Maybe the pets are using Mk X common (white) engine, while all players use Mk XII Very Rare (Purple) or even Mk IV Epic (Gold) engines
I pretty much had to go it alone in some maps, despite the buffs to the pets.
That said......once we got into position to guard an area (like the door unlock challenge in Core Assault) they made a great point defense system, simply nuking anything getting into range. With the carrier for fire support and commands they were pretty great.
Carrier Pets are getting some significant changes that should make them feel much more useful in space combat. All Carrier Pets:
Have received updated AI to be more responsive.
Are immune to one torpedo every 30 seconds.
Are unaffected by Warp Core Breaches.
Receive a health and damage increase. Carrier Pets that already have Scratch the Paint have received a few other buffs to account for this.

*EDIT*
Funny enough, they did the complete opposite with the whole "Updated AI" thing, it's worse than it has been for a long time. They do good dmg now, and get benefits from other buffs, and the survivability is much better, but they're dumb as space rocks.
but delta rising was the greatest expansion ever and the players loved it
Awoken Dead
Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG
I'm definitely going to get elite pets now that they don't just die from ship explosions. I'd say they could probably still improve the AI so that commands are obeyed 100% of the time and in a decent time frame but all in all I'm much happier with them now than I was before the patch.
I think the new AI must work.
lol if staying out of combat is the way they were programmed to survive then yeah, I guess all is working as intended.
One thing I spotted with the borg alert was summoning them within 10km had them sit like a bunch of numpties until the cube was pretty much gone despite being well within their 15km aggro range and on the attack setting.
They still refuse to dock across the board, calistos to jupiter, flyers & scorps to respective sci command cruisers, vonph and herald frigates as well. NONE of them dock whether stationary, moving forwards or backwards at any speed. At best they start humping your ship until you go faster than 25% regular speed.
Yea thats the notes I knew I read somewhere...
They did mention AI behavior so I wasnt crazy to be hyped about the patch...but yea, it seems nothing was done or it simply DOES NOT WORK...its sad really, cause I was all ready to bring back my Jupiter but its just a pain to always have to deal with those pets being far away.
I just dont understand how hard can it be to just program 2 small commands ...-DOCK- and -FULL IMPULSE- ...I mean, they do it properly with NPCs in missions, so how come pets havent been working for so many years.
