I want eight tac cubes fused together to make a super cube!
Pretty sure that gimmick is still owned by Activision (which Cryptic has been under orders by high above not to use).
That being said, I'm normally not a fan of the idea of a playable borg cube/sphere. However, I think Cryptic should do it just to call the bluff of all the players who say they'll quit the game forevers and evers or that STO is jumping the shark for the Nth time or that it's another desperate "last cash grab" or whatever other hyperbolic nonsense excuse they feel compelled to come up rather than just being honest and admitting that they just don't like the idea.
Because we can't just say "I don't like this", we have to throw in some heavy drama otherwise Cryptic won't understand how much we don't like it.
I think the 'end is soon when this happens' is not reasonable response either. I think they are just very much under pressure to get large spikes of money on a quarterly basis. So the universe class r and D will do it for this quarter. The Tac cube could be next quarter. Crystalline entity the next and so on maybe a movable starbases? Don't laugh, they move ds9 in the series.
I'd anticipate a T6 Voth Citadel Dreadnought to replace the Voth Bulwark, along with a Tzenkethi Dreadnought (after the inevitable Tzenkethi lockbox), and in between releases we have the Infinity R&D Promo packs that will contain all R&D ships in them that you can choose.
Like I said, normally I'd not be a fan of playable Borg ships (outside of ships from the Borg Cooperative since they have clear distinctions between what direction they're facing), but as usual, the amount of incessant whining from the STO playerbase has managed to flip me on the side of playable Cubes/Spheres/whatever for no other reason than to call their bluff.
The players do way more damage to the game than Cryptic could ever hope to accomplish.
The Tzenkethi ships are basically guaranteed for a lockbox version, are they not?
Yeah, it's pretty much inevitable. I'm guessing the Tzenkethi dreadnought will be an R&D promo ship given its immense size, but it's equally plausible it'll be either the grand prize or the lobi store ship. I like to think have a decent track record of predictions, but the one thing I've gotten wrong most often is which specific ships are offered where (Lockbox/Lobi/R&D), so I'd take that with a grain of salt.

Voth Cidadel is a strong possiblity. I just want the Tac cube and soon - and have the game keep going - just to show that you can keep "jumping the shark" - over and over and people will still play and pay!

So use a different formation.
Like 5 cubes in a + formation, call it the plus cube.

Hey that Borg ship is also not too big to be a Playable ship too. We could have a full line of Borg ships. Personally I am hoping for a Borg Faction, but they seem to like the lotto system for ships.
Honestly i could see it happening quite easy, even with the issue of determining what is the forward section fo the ship just using a visual indicator on the shield system as well as overlay around the ship would work. I could see releasing these during a story arc dealing with the borg going after the cooperative to recoup their lost drones (both groups are quite weak in numbers, with the collective being slightly stronger than the cooperative), or a story arc in which the borg are working towards assimilating tech from the ship wrecks of our recent enemies to bolster their own diminished strength. There is also the fact the borg might go into fluidic space again, which I would not mind seeing if it brought back a Undine lockbox that we could get the Vila heavy bio-battleship/cruiser of the Undine, and maybe even the dreadnaught or a science oriented ship too in the box.
I kind of think the size of ships is getting a bit much now. It seems like allot of dreadnoughts, I have loads. I pulled up outside our fleet K13 in my Sheshar, the ship was bigger than the starbase! We took some fleet screen shots outside our starbase and my tiny raptor can barely even be seen next to some of the other monoliths there, yet it can dance with any of them tactically. I love big ships and small, but I'm starting to feel like an effective zoom range scaling is far easier on a larger ship in terms of actually being able to see your ship clearly and appreciate its appearance. Though it can slide the other way with some of the huge ships and not being able to see much of the battlefield for its sheer size, even fully zoomed out.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
Just give me a hollowed-out planetoid with warp drive capabilities. Or I guess I could settle for a Voth Fortress, that would be sweet! Maybe kinda hard to park, but it would be worth it.

I feel the tzenkethi dread' will either be the lobi ship, or fill the same 'ultimate prize instead of 4 lobi' slot as the Vonph and Acheros. That prize currently only has two choices in infinity boxes and it's tanked their value. Putting a third ship in there will help stabilize all three.
But I don't care one way ot the other about borg - my T6 Tal'Shiar Adapted ships come ever closer and my greedy-grabby paws are READY.

I absolutely love my T5 Tal Shiar ships, but I'm not sure if the T6 versions will be able to pull me away from my T'Laru.
There seems to be no reason for me not to get it since size is no longer an issue. Make it so cryptic! I have got credit card ready.
There was a time when I would have taken this opportunity to tell you that you're out of luck and it will never happen.
Recent developments however, have forced me to change that stance. They will put any ship in game no matter how ridiculous.. as long as it makes money.
Want to fly a Star Destroyer? Or the Battlestar Galactica? Just make enough threads and it will eventually happen.
There is pretty much nothing that I'll say will 'never happen' anymore.
Why does everybody look at cubes as the end all still? I mean we melt cubes like ice in the sahara... think big... like a playable unicomplex :P that might be a worthwilr undertaking

Looking at the state the NPC Borgs ships are in at the moment they must be some ultra-bad crafts if ever translated to a playable version.
Seriously, every NPC Orb Weaver gives me a harder time than a Borg cube in STO.

Can't do that, not because it's ridiculous but licensing issues would kill that. Fusion cubes are already a thing in other games.
Better go for something more plausible, a voth fortress ship with citadels as hangar pets.

System traffic is gonna be a nightmare now isn't it?
"Let them eat static!"
I want a Citadel with two of the Doomsday weapons strapped to it for nacelles.
I will call it the U.S.S Mine Are Bigger

Everyone wants to fly the Borg Space Pickle Ship.

It will be a good discussion on the forums WHEN it happens!!
