I think that literally all of us would want the Arena of Sompek to be a permanent PvE queue. This PvE quite literally balances out all the space battles that we all had to endure since we're all getting a bit cozy in our ships, this will be a great change of pace and to test out and improve our ground gear. So devs, please make this PvE permanent.

Pugging this has been very unpleasant as people don't even bother using kit powers, don't slot hypos (!), are in it just for level 4 voucher, clearly don't have any spec or gear, refuse to make use of resources such as engineering shields and med generators, or quit after a certain time.
I wouldn't want this event permanent, but would want to see it run very often, and with proper rewards given the risk of early failure and time investment necessary.
It however brings out the worst in people as well. I have a feeling that whenever a mission end, someone accuses someone else of "not playing right" or "sabotaging" the event. I did hand out a few ignores this time around as people throw a tantrum whenever their competetive delights aren't satisfied. For example, if you get accused of sabotaging the event after round 55 when you were the one keeping the round going in the first place (because you were the only one able to kill a mob stuck in the wall) I call "oink it, not worth it".

I strongly agree. In fact, I think a great many of the currently available queues should be converted to reoccuring events and for those that remain, a new rewards system introduced to encourage people to queue for 3 specifics ones every week.
Additionally, I would like to ask to have a time frame for achieving rewards for this type of event widen - It's too stressed - some people work/study/are busy, time limited or are otherwise shortly abscent while playing still mostly, and couldn't get 3/3 on all accounts despite wanting and trying. I am posting it while I've already got the kit, so it's not by a personal interest.
This can affect especially people who want to try it sportively and have fun.
Rewards such as dill/rep/materials in those amount per time invested on this arena, are not what would encourage people to try this sportively as a long for challenge/title etc, fun is.
P.S.
Thank you for the event - in case it wasn't clear, I was enjoying some very sportive fights in it, was a heck of a fun.
Another option (don't kill me for that :P) is having this permanent option but without any 3/3 etc rewards, for the special occasion people want to gather and join, and adding 3/3 style rewards on a recurrent (often) basis for having an event-like feeling / reward.
BTW, increasing rewarded dil/rep/mat etc, could be an incentive to make longer runs as well, now it is not by itself, as said.
Ah, please don't change rewards every week - it's a bit too much (place/availability of people)
But the reward/time ratio is so abysmal I don't expect it to last long after everyone's got their 3 tokens and the accolade hunters have got their points. It will be just as dead as every other long queue.
Don't worry. sportive people accept that as long as you try
It's a pug, and a run is fun this way as long as all try.
The rewards were 1680 Dil, 1 normal R&D box, 3 elite weekend R&D boxes and 180 marks.
I am only going to play it two more times tonight; once for each account. Getting hit with the "wait bug" 2x in a row kinda killed my enthusiasm for the queue. That on top of the fact the Sompek Lightning kit is subpar means it is not good reward for the time invested.
As long as you try to do your best, that is all that matters. While good gear helps, it is not absolutely necessary... especially since you only need to survive 4 rounds to qualify for the event voucher. The reward itself is not that great unless Cryptic buffs it in the future (increase damage / lower cool down).
On my free to play account, my 3 captains only have Mk XII gear that are mission rewards or purchased from the Exchange. I only pug the mission and the teams I was on pretty much lasted for at least 20 rounds, with the highest being the 34th round. Not something to boast about, but doable. Know when to take cover and also use large hypos and large shield batteries as necessary.
On my other account with captains that have much better gear, the shortest pug session was 14 rounds. My best session was round 54, but with the "wait bug", it took over 3 hours. Good thing I did not need a bathroom break... oh, and the rewards at the end of that session sucked as I mentioned in my previous post.
I absolutely loved this event - one of the funnest things they have ever put in the game. And it was a proper challenge too. I was only able to get to level 74 just last night - made it on a pug run too, with one idiot being carried the whole way who spent most of the time face down on the deck plates. The noob had some nerve going in there without hypos!!
I hadn't played ground in months before this and it made me want to get back into it. It was great how it forced you to use different tactics and loadout that I would never normally use, and it required a lot of teamwork as well. Well done Cryptic. Five stars.
However, what I'd rather have them do is "rationalize" all the queues and use a "choice of marks" approach, not just keep adding queues.
It would be better to drop the number down to a 3-5 queues (with difficulty tiers) and have a rotating (weekly or monthly) slot for queues which changes. Or even more drastically, just have the "featured" queues which regularly get rotated. It's really only ISA and CCA which seem to have short enough wait times to make them playable at this point. Fewer queues would make others more viable and changing the lineup ensures that people's favorites will not be eliminated = and dev time was not wasted.
I’d keep it as event and would re-release it every couple of months.

Well, ground in STO is lacking. They would need to implement dual or multi talent system. A loadout system for ground. AND port over NW's ground combat here. Or Mass Effect's since that game has a comparable companion system.
Ground is neglected and it shows. It's just clunky here. Even CO has better ground.
Considering how many players asked if anybody would like to run Sompek only up till 4 in order to just get the daily reward you raise a solid question.

The unfortunate result of totally lopsided reward structure. Nothing that lasts longer than 2 minutes is competitive.
I would.
I'd like the option of running an increasingly challenging ground mission that can last as long as I want. It is a good map to test different designs, powers, weapons, and abilities (lots of Kirk rolls, which I never do, for me in on that map because of the lighting) with little pressure (no timers). Failure or ending the match does not equate to not earning special currencies like in Advanced and Elite missions.
Sometimes I'd like to run a longer mission, not timed, where I can use different weapons and shoot. Just login in, play Sompek for an hour+, and then log off. Sompek's reward system can be adjusted.
I do not run ISA or CCA but, in my opinion, Cryptic helps make a problem by making upgrading prohibitively expensive, especially weapons, then is concerned if some players take the easier routes to earn currencies and resources; or measure DPS.
Also, would have been so nice to have the stealth skill back as it was before. Don't add much to it and not sure why they thought it would be an exploit. There are people who went way before round 400 and above so a player will always find "better" techniques to win anything the MMO throws at them.
