Returning Pc player Very Fustrated

Just came back to the game after 3 years away, had a blast playing through all the content that I missed.

On reading about the Agents of yesterday content and bonuses (ultra rare gear unlock for all characters), I was pretty excited to start a temporal agent alt, On reaching ESD after playing the 23rd century missions (which were great) I didn't receive a transponder, a bit of googling and I find I'm too late.

25% of the game (with a major bonus for the other 75 %) is unavailable for new and returning PC players. Its on Console, its available for characters created during the event (fleet chat confirmed they still are getting the bonuses etc), Just not available to new PC players.

For a F2P game to have content locked behind a time gate and not even have it available to purchase for Zen in the store seems nonsense.

It has really killed my enthusiasm to continue, or even to log in again.

I hope that I have been misinformed, or just suffered a bug, I'm recently retired with enough time and a bit of cash to enjoy my hobbies, I am not feeling "entitled" I would just like to play the content that existing PC players and those on consoles can enjoy.

Thanks for reading and for any helpful advice, As I say I hope I'm just misinformed, my google-Fu is declining in old age

Sorry to hear your frustration. From what I've been told it's an event item and event items aren't always available once the event is over.

You are not misinformed. The Temporal Recruitment Event, like the Delta Recruitment Event before it, was for a limited time only after the launch of Agents of Yesterday and Delta Rising respectively. The bonuses were only available to characters created during those events. The tesseract device and temporal transponder that gave access to the bonuses and account wide unlocks could only be acquired during those events. I'm sorry, but it's not a bug.

You didn't miss content, you missed some special rewards. The console version just got to the Agents of yesterday expansion, they are behind in content considerably, that is why they have the event now.
I know it is frustrating to not get the free stuff, but that's what a limited time only reward is.
    Go pro or go home

    Well that's a shame,

It seems odd that it's not even purchasable, Its a fairly major Bonus / Incentive after all.

Of the 4 Factions (Fed, Klingon, Romulan, ToS) one is completely pointless for a newbie, and as the content is still in the game and still accesible, It seems odd to alienate or punish new players

I Guess I will just move on to something else, As I said it has rather killed my enthusiasm,

    Thanks for all the replies

I missed that too; but actually found out about it until much later when that char was 50+ that there was a Delta like event for these. Did not stop me from having fun with that character. And if we are going by the Delta Operative example its not really 25% contend you are missing. More like 0,0something%. A short cut-scene or two and some dialogue.

Well, it was a reward for actually participating in the event. It's not odd that it's not purchasable, as that's never been an option.

If you're referring to the TOS mini Faction as pointless, I don't see how. Their story arc is still valid, even without the Temporal Recruit rewards.

Sorry that you feel "alienated" and "punished" for not participating in the event, though. It's a good thing you don't feel entitled, otherwise it might cause feelings of bitterness towards the game.

I'd be interested to know what math does one need to use to get one 6-week optional event with no unique gameplay content to be "25% of the game."

I feel the OP's frustration. I agree with making all game content purchaseable in c store... I normally would say that doing so cheapens the effort players put in to getting their events done on time BUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
    ..............
What about all the ships Ive put real money in to purchasing that Cryptic occasionally gives away for FREE!? (which always makes me feel cruddy)

Door swishes both ways kids... I want to say Cryptic should sell those bonuses AND FOR GOD SAKE MAN-SELL THE T6 CONNIE!!!!!!!!

I agree with the others that it's mostly a 'perception' thing, ie., 'feeling' that you've missed out on something big. For what it's worth, I participated in both the Delta and AoY events, made the captains, levelled them up, unlocked some rewards, looked at some others, and basically set them aside while I work on whatever captain/ship/build I am currently interested in. I haven't completed even 1/2 the Delta or AoY bonuses even though it would be fairly simple to do so.

The rewards are a nice little bonus if you were there, they aren't game-breaking or vital. Also, as others pointed out, you aren't missing any of the game or the content, certainly not 25%. Just some bonus rewards which are certainly nice but not required.

If im not totally mistaken as long as you created a Delta / Temporal Recruit during the Event you always were able to Finish the Character even after the Event ends and also Unlock the Rewards.
That was actually stated in the Blogs about the Event if i remember right (Feel free to correct me).

So without wanting to sound harsh towards you in all honesty, isnt this on you?
Ofcourse i understand being away from a Game means not caring about it much at all, but if you actually care about Events like these it shouldn´t be much of an issue to you to actually check from time to time and see if any such Event is going on.

That would mean you could have Jumped ingame, create any such Recruit, jump out of the game and then do this stuff once you actually Return to the Game at a later Date.

Unless there was a good reason for not being able to check, my opinion is that this is your own fault.

    Greetings.

Thing is, the vast majority of the rewards (for actually participating in the event) are Marks, Dilithium, and EC, meant to help a new player/character get to endgame quicker so they can be viable alongside veteran players. All of which can otherwise be easily earned by playing the game. It amazes me how much people don't want to actually play the game and want to just be handed free things or given an option to buy their way through. :s

the temporal recruitment event like any event was just for the period of the event and not a permanent fixture, giving AOY characters permanent extra rewards that come with the event would make that faction more desirable and more profitable to play then any of the other factions and would have been particularly unfair on new players that might want to play just KDF for example who would not get these bonuses.

this is not 100% accurate you not only had to create the character but also had to play until you got the device that gives the bonuses, this was just the matter of playing the Graduation Day mission for Delta recruits but for Temporal recruits you had to play several missions before you got the device, not something that someone who is not playing for whatever reason would probably want to do.

at the end of the day its just bad luck and bad timing that you didn't return before the event.
if you are bothered so much about what you have missed in this one event I would hate to tell you what you have missed out on in the years you have not been playing but that's what happens when you don't play.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Good then im standing corrected, thanks.

Its just my personal opinion if you care enough about such events due to whatever rewards they give, it isn´t that far a stretch to invest atleast the little bit of time to unlock the possibility of completing these rewards later on.

So either you do not care about the game in which regard the Event Rewards are of no importance.
Or you care enough to stay informed and possibly profit from Events, both doesn´t work in my eyes.
Atleast not if you then come here and complain about it.

There's sure to be a Gamma Quadrant Expansion, and I'm quite certain there will be another Recruitment Event for it.

The only "content" I think that's not available from the event would be the traits. There will most likely be an alternative way to get those at some point. As for everything else, you can buy dil. You can effectively "buy" EC. With EC you can effectively buy all the R&D stuff you get. I don't think you can buy marks, but you can buy boosts which ends up being "free" marks as well. Seems to me you're just looking for a reason to stop playing the game and your using not getting some rewards is a pretty lame one IMO.

The only real thing I can see that would be more than just a slight time saver is a single ship trait...a trait one can easily live without and there are lots of good ones as you only got 4/5 options.

The final bonus is that everything you craft through Reputation, will be ultra rare MK14 gear for all characters on the account, quite a substantial reward.

Again I am asking for nothing "free", I have all the Dilithium and EC I could ever need, the content is still In the game for Characters created during the event, and now on console, but blocked for returning PC players

I would like to create a temporal agent and work through the rewards. as a returning player I am not able to do so, that's all,

I guess I don't see it as an event missed, rather that the whole point of creating a temporal agent has been removed for new and returning PC players

There is no content barred for returning players bar the Temporal Transponder, which only contains rewards, not content, and was time limited availability. ALL OTHER CONTENT IS THERE!

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I believe it's actually MK XIII for Reputation Gear, but one can still upgrade their gear via the Crafting System, so still nothing missed out on except a boost.

WOW what a whining. In ALL MMO's that I played so far HAVE specific "timed" events not available all the time. That's the nature of an MMO if they need to get more peeps at a certain time of the year. There is NO reason to whine about this point when certainly there are a million other critical items broken with the game.

Time gates for events are a normal practice or we could be doing Winter/summer/anniversary all year round. Not valid point and whining dont get you anywhere when it comes to this point.

If it makes you feel any better; the rewards have not been implemented on consoles as of yet.

At least when PC players get something, they get all of it...

The rep gear upgrade reward is nice but it just saves dil and EC for buying tech upgrades.

Instead of buying the event reward for $50, you can buy some zen, trade the zen for dil and sell some lock box keys to buy tech upgrades. Problem solved.

If you think "Delta recruits" werent time gated? is there anything else to add to this discussion. They won't open those recruits if you missed the opportunity and why would they do the same with "Temporal" recruits. There is no pattern to break the system but would be nice to bring them back as they so promised when they launched the first "Delta" recruits a while back.

The point is that this is not normal time gated content (Like a 5th or 5th anniversary ship)

This content is still in game and being worked on by Existing PC players and our new Console cousins.

Cryptic themselves described it a long term project for your Alt Temporal agent to work towards:

    https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10048913-temporal-agent-recruitment

I and I suspects other returning PC players would merely like to join in the "fun"

Sadly this discussion is going nowhere (like very discussion ever created on the Internet I suppose.)

    Happy Gaming
