A Star Trek Online App

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
I wanted to write a post for the fellow app builders out there. Could we look into the possibility of creating a Star Trek Online App, now I don't mean to get the ground or space play on the app! But the ability to do your dailys from the app such as:
*Refine your dilithium
*Maintain Duty Officer Assigments
*Maintain Admiralty System
*Maintain the R&D System
Get what I mean,
Was hoping for thoughts feasibility on Star Trek Online being able to offer this?
For me I'd love to do this dailys on my phone!

    There is no way for a third party dev to create an app that will directly interact with the game engine or interact with the game in anyway, Cryptic was working on a web based portal that let you do basic things like check mail, manage the fleet and do doff missions however it was very buggy and required too much work so they stopped working on it in fact the neverwinter gateway version was the only one that had the ability to do duty missions STO's gateway never got updated for that.

    Weren't there also some security issues as well with the Gateway?

    I would've loved to be able to do DOFFing and Admiralty from it, though.

    Cryptic might decide to offer something like this someday to subscribers, but right now they have their hands full with development of the server and the PC, X1, PS4 clients.

    It's also questionable how many people would actually pay money for this feature. They'd need thousands of paying customers just to support one app developer.

    I think they tried something like that with Neverwinter, and it bombed. And the Gateway was a buggy mess that was abandoned.

    It was due to exploits involving bots and Neverwinter's team getting tired of dealing with the bots. Neverwinter's version was extremely popular due to not needing to log in to the game for leveling up crafting and other similar activities.

    And if STO had a comparable gateway, then lots of people would use it more than the MMO. Much easier to do R&D, Duty Officer Assignments, Fleet Holding projects, and Admiralty with the Gateway compared to the current method.

    It is currently possible to manage Fleet Holding projects with the STO Gateway and view your accolades, Captain, current ship, and Bridge Officer, but there is little chance of improving it beyond what is currently available. Just tested it and viewing your completed accolades on the Gateway is much more organized than ingame, but incomplete accolades aren't available.
