There was the ship. There was something about some Spec points. and I'm not sure if there was anything else. Have you checked the other 'Thanks for the ship' threads?

there were 10 spec points but I don't think you can give the stuff away in any case as the code is locked to your account as far as I know.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

FYI, people who complain about other people "whining" are also whining. Generally with less reason.

People who tell other people to get over it who never get over it themselves.
So by extension, people (like yourself) who are whining about other people who are whining about people whining are even worse right?

we could keep this going to infinity and beyond,
That's the exact point of my post.
Nope, unless you're prepared to be one stage worse (or, as a four-year-old would say, no, you are, infinity!).

Just pointing out that everything said by the complainers about complaining (who are legion) could be said about themselves, as they seem to be terminally unaware.

P.S. If you want to keep arguing pointlessly, I could point out that OP is actually complaining about a thing that happened related to the game that affected players, however little, whereas you are complaining about posts on a forum that you knew, before you read, you did not want to read.

Then again, this is the internet. Pointless arguing is the second most common thing here.
I actually enjoy reading them. The schadenfreude is strong with me.

I think you could get the Leeta BOFF some way like that but can't remember. I was referring to the limited time offer to get some shuttles, the mirror guardian and the Leeta BOFF via a minimum $10 donation thru groupees. It happened pretty quick and so a lot of people complained about the short time frame. Not enough being available. Some went even so far as to then complain about the charity.

    Oh.
    That.

I remember it. I found out after it was over.

edit: don't recall the details, but it always put me in the mind of a crowd fundraiser. A quick way to get the needed funds for maintenance and such type of thing when normal routes are blocked or there's not enough to keep the lights on.

Actually, what was really cool is that the charity retroactively went back and awarded codes to people who had donated $10 and up after all the original codes had been bought. I had donated $15 expecting only to get the t1 ships and shuttles, but two weeks later I received an email saying they had added the t6 ships and holo leeta to my account. A couple of my fleeties got them too.

If you donated but too late might be worth logging in and checking if they gave you the codes too.

    Just stop it OP...

Lets say they give a code to everyone... then the one who bought it would be complaining...

    Stop your entitlement issues...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I got an email from crytpic, but it was empty. :( I wonder did I win the random drawing and just failed to read the email at 2am when it was sent so no joy for me? Just wondering.

Just tried the Q party quest on earth, NOT surprise at the number of Dindu Nuffin players, who hop in and start stealing your mobs, or stand right there in front of you so you can't see where mini-Q hides in the boxes, nothing but punks.

If they want to give normal ships c-store to people to 'come back to STO', then while I see the point marketing-wise, I don't like it as far as 'appreciation'. You give someone who's not playing/spending on the game a free something, but someone who buys a lot gets squat. And ships like the Nagus being quietly handed out just smells of underhandedness. You want to give a ship away, post a contest on Facebook, the STO site or something! If the Nagus was a 'thank you' to the whales, then make the contest a raffle style where you get an entry per 1000 Zen bought or something.

Quick question. What does this have to do with this thread which is about the FREE T6 Sovereign from last week?

the only thing that's worth doing is the Omega Particle game for the ship that's unless you need the marks to fill a reputation otherwise its just not worth it and personally I would rather wait until they do the next crystalline event to get marks. its much more fun then the dumb party patrol.

5 Marks from the Party Patrol is no reason to run that. I am only running it on a Leveling Character for the XP and the 250 Dilithium. Down at the Academy anyway to do the 'Path to 2409'.

Crystalline Event is great for Marks, but the Shuttle Event is even better. Check out Atmospheric Assault the next time that is run.

5 years playing, never gotten a single email promo, and I'm not the slightest bit upset about it. Frankly threads like this are just entitled whining about an industry standard practice.

Do you have promo e-mails enabled? I didn't and I enabled them after the Nagus giveaway and got the sovereign. I think many people are not getting it because they have those e-mails disabled.

I never got ship either, & email notifications have always been enabled. I never saw any post from moderators or cryptic explaining conditions to receive the sovereign ship code, and despite the slew of players posting in this thread claiming the rewards are "random" I again can't seem to find a post from any moderator or Cryptic employee saying the codes were "random". Nothing here but assumptions. If they aren't going to do these giveaways right then they shouldn't do them at all because it only alienates the existing player base.

A group of people that share nothing in common (location, join date, age, gender etc) got a code, I would say that is considered random.

Nope there was another thread made by someone with the same concerns and he asked everyone who got a code to post their location and how long they had been playing and it was all over the place not confined to 1 country or join date no one had anything in common so not assumptions but an opinion made based on the facts/evidence available.

It's very simple. We'll never know, for certain, whether it was just random, or something else (unless Cryptic tells us). But we do know many ppl compared and falsified many alleged criteria -- to the degree that at least no discernible pattern could be observed. Said pattern could still exist, btw, and simply be out of purview to us; but if it exists, it was nothing obvious: so, likely random, for all purposes and intent.

You're not going to get a definitive answer from Cryptic about this. In fact, the only answer we've ever received is that they will not tell us due to privacy of player information.

So, given that everyone who had self-identified as a recipient was able to shoot down ever theory floated, by eliminating a possible qualifying condition, logically, we're left with it being random selection.

I never got the email but I did get the spec points that supposedly came with the ship in the promo tab so I can't really complain in that regard. Still one gripe I would have about the ship is it does nothing for players who don't play Fed and do Romulan or KDF mostly. I wish they would have given an ship token that would let you choose one based on the faction of the character you had. At least the 7 year giveaway did it better with one from each faction.

Well, I never received any promo emails until I turned on the button that says I wanted to receive special/promo emails. I didn't do this until after the Gold Nagus and next thing I know I'm getting the Sovvie.

All I can say is thank you, Cryptic.

I am a lifer, spend very little real money on this game. I get my zen from the stipend and Arc quests.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I agree entirely, every reason I have seen given for receiving this giveaway has been discounted by one or more other posts so if there is a definitive reason behind this it is at least at this stage unknown.
