Please allow new season giveaways to be redeemed all week

Hello, friends.

First of all : I hope I am not disturbing things by creating "oh great, yet another knucklehead requesting x/y". If that is the case, accept my apologies. I'll still be a knucklehead, though.

Alright, in a few words : I love this game, I love being a part of the ST universe. I'm not a big spender (would that I could be) and am content to play a few hours here and there, whenever I'm able to. The thing is... I'm only able to log in a couple of hours a week (when I get home), most often on week-ends. The rest of the time, I just don't have access to the game.

This does mean I'll never get a summer/winter event ship. That's a shame (especially as I like asymetrical ships), but that's just my luck.

But the new season giveaways... Heck, they're giveaways. As in, free for everyone to grab. And I can't even grab them because I'm on the road, sometimes hundreds of kilometres from my computer. So when it's just costume unlocks, I don't really care. But when it's precious things that (at my rate of playing) would take weeks of Dil grind to acquire like additional ship slots, I can't help being frustrated.

So... For the sake of all move-a-lot Trekkies like myself, and maybe for the sake a other people who get stuck in doorways far away from home in these precious weeks, could you please consider making these New Season giveaways available all week? Just so we could actually get that which you freely offer?

Please?

This is a valid reason why the rewards should be a obtainable all week once they are released. However, the Developers have mentioned the desire to keep things exclusive, so I doubt we will see a change in the process, but there is always hope.

Plus, if Cryptic buckle to one request, players will see fit to declare 'there's precedent' anytime they want.

The point is to get people to login every day.

    So no.

The giveaway EXISTS to drive daily numbers. If you're not contributing to those daily numbers you're not holding up your end of the bargain. Simple as that.

I'd find a friend I trusted and have them do it for me, much like house sitting or looking after a pet. A lesson I learned when I missed the KT admiral uniform because I was too busy going to the world premier of ST: Beyond ;).

Daily login rewards are a staple of online games. If people log in more they spend more, which keeps the game running.
The thing is... I'm only able to log in a couple of hours a week (when I get home), most often on week-ends. The rest of the time, I just don't have access to the game.

If your real life activities are paying you well, you can always use (lots and lots of) lobi to get the missing tokens.

This is the second day in a row that the launcher has been crashing ever time I try to log in. It does not patch. It does not do anything. It just keeps crashing. So I have not been ABLE to log in at all in the first place.

Just my luck. The moment a giveaway starts, that is when the launcher gets broken.
I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

Wow you are people are complete TRIBBLE. Do you have no comprehension of what it means to have responsibilities in the real world? Cryptic shouldn't be acting like a bunch of teenagers who all want to be such special snowflakes that they yell and scream when they come to school and see other people wearing the same thing they are. This is only a game, an entertainment product. Cryptic's job is to entertain ALL its players, not just the ones who have the least out of game responsibilities. Not making the rewards more open to ALL the loyal players is a complete and unforgivable slap in the face to all the loyal players who for whatever reason were not able to log in.

For all you players who are trying to white knight for Cryptic, learn to have some empathy for other people and realize that everyone lives a different life outside the game and that we should seek to be as inclusive as possible, not as exclusive as possible.

I work full time. I still choose to spend time grinding for the event ships. I also take the 5 minutes to log in to claim free daily giveaways.

It's my choice to grind instead of pay lobi or pass on a ship. It's someone else's choice to watch sports, do grocery shopping, take the kids to otter wrasslin' practice or in the OP's case keep on truckin' instead of logging in.

It's fine with me if Cryptic decides to make the giveaways weekly, but I understand that they are a business. It makes business sense to tie the giveaways to daily logins just like at other F2P online games. They do it that way to help bring in the money that keeps the lights on.

If life keeps you too busy to log in, and you can't afford to pay for things, Cryptic is at least giving you the gift of a game you can play without spending money.

Unlike some other games there's no charge for the new story content, or joining queues, or using your best loot drops, or setting your uniform colors in the tailor.

Seeing as how the STO launcher keeps crashing, I don't have the ability TO log in, much less claim anything.

from launcher options - check save mode - load the game and find my first post in this topic http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/comment/12926806?

    maybe this works

Keep in mind, 'There is no such thing as a free lunch.' :)

Yes, the giveaways are free, but they put pressure on you to log in *now* -- and then for the next week, each day. This allegedly leads to you spending RL money, once enticed by all the free goodies you received. If they just said, 'It is all free, and come collect it whenever you want,' then there'd be no advantage in it for Cryptic.

And yes, even the span of a full week is an eternity to Cryptic, with you not being 'forced' to log in all the time, as (from their perspective) you'd just lost momentum during the long pauses: they want you to develop enough traction to want to keep going.

For a long time people would ask that event items be available via some other means after the fact. Others would then come in and tell them it wouldn't happen cause Cryptic wanted people to log in every day during those events and they wanted exclusivity. Pretty much the sorts of things you're saying. Now we have the phoenix boxes where you can get those items. So really, why are you writing all this stuff about why Cryptic does what they do? The more people ask for these sorts of things, the more chance Cryptic will come up with some way to make everyone "happier".

People have asked for the old ships put back in the events, to increase event attendance and encourage new players. This did not happen.

Phoenix boxes were great for the dilithium economy, but I pity the poor newbie who had to gamble for 4 years of event ships with the prices and odds being what they were. I myself spent several million dil getting one voth Bulwark, I can't even imagine the cost of getting a full set of ships from it.

On the other hand, anyone's free to buy these giveaway items with zen all year round.

There may have been some that asked for that but there were plenty of others that were asking for "other" ways to get them including things like buying them for lobi, dil and zen.

I bought into the whole thing myself to the tune of just 100 boxes. Got 1 token to get a ship but all my tokens are still sitting there as I can't decide what to actually get with them. I suppose things like the shotgun and red matter capacitor should be a given but meh. lol

Do you have a smartphone? Get it on your PC and get the app on your phone and you can control your PC with your phone. Wouldn't really be able to play that way, but you would be able to just log in quickly and claim rewards easily. Problem solved.

I can't play on weekends therefore missing on every bonus event since they took away the hourly bonuses. Best I can do is park my toons in the Dyson sphere and kick off a bunch of XP heavy assignments (doff and admirality) when they have XP ones and collect them Monday morning because I have no other option. Have they done anything to help cases like me? Nope.

Lol, I tried that one using Splashtop and an iPad years ago (maybe S5). Not easy and barely doable. Maybe with a large Android tablet and Chrome it could be pulled off.

I've done it in other games on my Galaxy S4 when I still had it and now on my S6. Not sure why you'd need Chrome as the way Tamviewer works doesn't require a browser at all. But yeah, compare current software and technology to that what you tried "years ago." Because technology doesn't get better and better every year. I don't know about you but I can tell a huge difference in the touch accuracy of my old HTC One and my Galaxy S6. It is so much better now. We also have faster cell phone speeds. I mean depending on how many years ago, 4G is still relatively new. I can see how it would be terrible on a smaller phone, with less accurate touch and only 3G speeds, but nowadays? Tech has gotten better.

Not just that, but for those giveaways in the days running up to a new season, if you can convince inactive members to log-on for a reward, patch their game and pre-load the next big patch, then there's a much less of a load on the server than if everyone comes back all on day one.
