How would you rate the bugs in STO?

I am interested in how others view the status of the bugs in Star Trek Online, how do you see them, do they spoil the game for you, are they just slight niggles, or do you not even notice them at all?

Constant and ongoing, some lasting years, frustrating and in some cases game breaking and certainly spoils the game for me.

Oh, jeez, another biased poll, why?

3 options that say "the bugs more or less spoil the game", 1 option nobody is gonna pick and the last one is "there are a few bugs".
    Where are the options:
-a few, but they do not diminish my enjoyment
-Some can be annoying, but I can ignore them
-Some are greatly annoying and I avoid the parts of the game where they are present

    All the world’s a stage,
    And all the bugs and quirks that irk players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one bug in it’s time plays many parts

as a new player to the game. having never played the pc version.

I think it's kinda bad. you report bugs and your lucky if you get any kind of. "we're working on it"

as well they don't seem to even care about there game. all kinds of old bugs where just ported over to console's.

kinda get the impression cryptic have no passion for there game.

I would typically class the experience as "not to bad/occasional". The warp out animation has never worked properly since game launch - an embarrassment I run into every session. I get stuck in stars now and then and some animations in cut scenes get booger'd up. But the gameplay is largely sound, and bugs rarely interrupt my enjoyment with hangs much less crashes. There's some warts, but the game WORKS.

Cryptic is currently at a bit of a low ebb for me due to the separation-pets bug, which has been TRIBBLE with other player's gameplay far too long and threatens to make my new sheshar's ability non-functional. That's the game NOT working, and not working because an old system has been damaged, not because they were trying something new and it didn't quite gel.

I've not encountered a single game breaking bug. There are a lot little things that irk me, but none of those is critical. Also, I choose this option to weigh in against the emotional poll options.

"Do you notice bugs: a) no, b) slightly, c) often, d) severely" - don't include rage phrases for the people meant to partake in your poll. "Some for years" is only in one option that at the same time implies the game is hardly playable, yet the two aren't in a casual relationship, just to point out one flaw in your poll.

You're welcome to your opinion of course, however I prefer more illustrative questions, the reader may wonder what you mean by slightly, or severely, define either of those, now we are in very subjective territory. By Illustrating my interpretation of slightly and severely within the poll I will be sure that the reader understands what I mean in my poll. You are of course welcome to conduct your own poll with your own wording. Thank you for voting but your answer is in conflict with your own stated experience, your need to sacrifice your own true opinion in favour of balancing what you perceive to be an emotional reaction is interesting, and I dare say, says more about you than it does about the game ;)

That's the textbook definition of a biased poll, though. The example I outlinded does work for anyone able to understand English I'd say, as in no means no, slightly is also self explanatory whereas often means bugs are noticed regularily and severely means they impact one's experience. Your witty remark doesn't work either - I'm no Vulcan. I am emotionally troubled by seeing biased polls and thus decide to sabotage them to avenge the neglected, good scientific practice pig-2.gif

before there so called graphics upgrade id say they didn't bother me but the lighting i have tried 100 different setting both via the game and my monitor and while i have a setting that i can live with i still think the game looks worse than it used to.

Then there are the ones that have been in a long time intrepid bug for example romulan bridge officers and the less said about the foundry's problem the better, but while they do not make me want to rage quit i do think they could get on top of some of these bugs before we get new content that may bring in more bugs.

A recall a while back a podcast that spoke with someone from the bug team, and they mentioned in detail their process how how they go about identifying and and fixing bugs. They also mentioned how the player base could be better at reportinf bugs. Over the years the correct way of reporting bugs fell to the whole, Please fix now, or I am not spending money to you fix TRIBBLE, and no new content until all bugs are fixed crowds. I also chalk it up to the lack of education on how software development really works, but this is the internet, so my logic and reason will not be heard.

This is basically what this whole poll feels like. Another fist shaken. Not that I can't understand some frustration at times, but this community really jumped the shark on that issue.

I see many minor bugs every time I log in. Nothing game breaking and all of them are easy to ignore. Some of them can be annoying if I pay too much attention to them. They do diminish the game somewhat but on the whole the game does work well where it really needs to.

It is in no way biased, you will notice that the options go from no impact at all to total non-playment of the game. Having too many options would dilute the results based on a projected low number of voters, i.e. less than 100. The options you list there are more or less the same as in the poll, if you can't see that then I presume you didn't find your glasses this morning.

Ehm, no. This has nothing to do with someone not wearing his or her glasses, except for you maybe. The poll is biased.

Out of 5 options, at least 3 of them suggest that enjoyment of the game is (somewhat, or even severely) diminished and all these three options suggest that bugs are apparent, no matter what the respondent does in-game.

The first option is a ridiculous one since it can be quite simply proven that there are bugs in the game (see the Saucer seperation bug for example).

So that leaves only one reasonable option that isn't overtly pessimistic.

Or simply put, bad poll is bad.

User interface generated severe FPS lag is a bug, ruining immersion and still resulting in choppiness at times on a brand new desktop.

Console click-activation delay and failures which are a constant, especially when not using keybinds, is a bug, and makes gameplay, particularly on the ground, a constant frustration. This also ruins immersion when fighting with every mouse click and checking to see if it did anything. Hold-pressing helps, but is a poor work-around.

Pets are still half-broken, after at least 2 fix attempts. It is hard to role-play a carrier which has broken controls, die in warp core breaches if without a very rare lockbox trait, and cost a fortune for the elites.

T1 B'Rotlh BoP skin is advertised and sold to work with the T5 & T6 B'Rels, but still does not to this day.

All separation pets are currently broken (non-functional), and have been for a month and counting, including T5 ships like the Prometheus whose sole purpose outside of its admiralty card is to enable separation on the T6/F.

Missions contain bugs that halt all progress, forcing you to leave and restart, often without save points - usually due to clipping issues of NPCs, or toggles that fail to show up. Bridge officers have a hard time following you in certain missions, resulting in solo fights against large mobs.

except they are well aware some some bug and still there has been no evidence of them being addressed such as the romulan bridge officer bug and as someone who works in software development i can tell you if a client received no feedback on recurring bugs other than were working on it i doubt they would continue to remain clients for the company i work for.

There's far too many longstanding bugs to ignore, from visuals to items, ship stats or the tailor.
Some render parts of the game very hard to play/enjoy. Others can be avoided.

On the bright side, some bugs get fixed eventually. Then again, old bugs reappear as well as new ones constantly show up.

Here is the link so you can apply and teach all those at Cryptic how to do their jobs.

    https://www.crypticstudios.com/openings

When you mention feedback, a highly doubt trash talking Employee's of Cryptic is the proper method or threating to stop playing the game or spending money will get bugs to be fixed any faster.

See the post about lighting issues and @tacofangs response. He gave a clear, detailed response and players still dismissed it out of hand.

    Bugs ? What bugs ?

STO is an awesome game just chock full of special features, many many more special features than most MMOs. Just because some people don't like those special features, and not everyone always has access to them, is NO reason to clamor for them to be removed from the game.

I also fail to see why so many people insist on calling those special features "bugs".
    LTS and loving it.

There is still a lot of bugs to go around. But Cryptic has been getting better at addressing the bugs and such as of recently!

Im on the fence with this poll

Are there bugs? yes but thats indicative of ALL MMOs Etc, this poll like @angrytarg mentioned has the feel of a "Fist Shaking" thread.
