Ok..So when I click play thru arc..The Cryptic Launcher Autoupdate keeps downloading 29.xxMB every time..
Any idea why this is happening? Any reply would be appreciated..
Update..15th December..
Arc seems to think STO isint installed on my system at all and says I have to install to play..But the ultimate Joke is I have STO sitting at 16GB on my drive right where its supposed to be..So I force close arc..Try to repair it and relaunch and 1 out of 3 times it will work as intended..Whats going on with Arc??
Is this since the Dec 8th maintenance? Because I can't get on all the sudden today. I get to the cryptic screen and then it crashes and sends a error report or something. Let me know if you figure anything out.

No man its been happening since the previous update..Not checked out today..
But you say a crash at the cryptic screen..Have you tried,
-Verrifying the game files?
-Tried using safe mode to login then restart as normal?
-Are you running DX9 or 11?
-What type OS you use? x86 or x64?
-Have you monitored the ram and CPU usage when STO is on? (This can reveal alot depending on x86 or x64 factor)
-Any recent driver updates?
-How badly fragmented is the drive where you have STO installed (I have had issues here)..
Just a few things I can think of from the top of my head for now..
after yesterdays patch: the loader/launcher pulled some kind of an update-now i gt hung up at login server everytime-where it tries to access the login server server and times out after a minute or so-crashes back to desktop
Ok its been happening yesterday and today..And for 27MB it took 40 mins thereabout to update..I mean seriously..WTF?! It takes me less than 10 mins to download my Nvidia driver which is 370MB+ but this is just fraking ridiculous..Also arc seem to be broken noe so much so it says STO aint installed and I have to restart arc everytime..Whats going on?
I haven't played since Risa Event in Summer. I can tell u whatever they have done with ARC and Agents of Yesterday and dropping WinXP support since the summer is buggy as a Ferengi's Dinner Plate.
ARC did not work at first, forgot exact error msg, some DLL file missing. Have several pc's with same error. Had to uninstall ARC completely, download and reinstall ARC. Then it finally allowed me to log in and patch.
After patching - Error at Launcher: "Unable to start game client. The operation completed successfully." Had to submit PWE Support Ticket. To make long story short, only thing that fixed was to uninstall STO, delete ARC and Cryptic Folders. Then wait ALL DOGGONE DAY AND NIGHT for slowest Patch Server in all of gaming history to download game.
Then after all this hassle it takes me literally over an Hour for Loader to properly load after logging in to ARC. I get bugged after bugged after bugged Loaders. Some totally black/blank, saying "loading please wait". Some will display half the loader screen then stop, never able to hit Patch or Engage button. Others will display ship/lockbox ads on loader but will become stuck. Others will display the whole loader screen except the very bottom saying "loading please wait".
I have to close and reload the launcher from ARC many many times before one actually lets me hit Engage button. Then when I play Winter Wonderland race I often get rubber banding, causing me to loose the race.
These problems never came up before. They happen on multiple pc's, some which I've used to play STO for years without issue. I have turned Firewall off, Antivirus off, Ran as Administrator, Turned on Compatability Mode (tried all older OS from Win10 pc). Nothing helps.
I will have to look at Tracert and Nettest next which I don't know how to diagnose coz I never had to before. Always been with same ISP as well. Maybe I just give up playing if I cannot figure this out and noone has any suggestions.
I have arc and sto on an external hard drive and I've had it there for 3 years. I use it for multiple computers for testing or playing etc. It's never had any issues. In fact I'll just test it again. This time from my main desktop which already has arc and sto installed. So I had to change the registry settings for STO's location so arc will actually use the external hdd. I started it up and it needed to update arc which it did quickly and then sto. sto needing 8663 megabyte. Watching the download it's as high as 128 megabit or 16 megabyte a sec. However it's typically at a bit over 48 megabit or 6 megabyte a sec. I'm on a 150 megabit connection fyi. Noting this as some people seem to think everything is in megabyte. ISP speeds are always measured as megabit/sec. I'd say it's doing extremely well.
Well darn it's already updated. The final 50% was screaming. Was hoping I could watch the download speed a bit further to get a better average, oh well. ok lemme try Tribble as that has a recent update and ya it's 5096mb. Hm it's either going faster or I didn't spend enough time looking at the other download. It surpassed 203 megabit or 25.375 megabyte a sec. The average was higher at a bit over 60 megabit or 7.5 megabyte a sec. Actually i think it was even higher then that. And geez that last 50% went quick as well. Seemed like I blinked and it was done. Slight exaggeration but seriously I missed the last 32% or so.
I seriously never understand how so many people can have problems. Especially when they say it's with multiple computers. That same external hdd I brought to starbucks or micky d's or some other free wifi area just so I could download updates. Had to do this for 2 years as my isp at that time had a very low gb a month usage limit. And still didn't have any issues. I would expect a corrupt file or 2 in 2 years using public wifi, but nope.
Maybe it's time for a new modem. Or maybe download a better nic driver, new not always the best. Don't use wifi for playing game, plug directly into the modem. My modem is an Motorola SBG 6580. Software was updated by my cable company and it now does ipv6. It's been around for quite a while now. The wifi on it sucks hard as it's range is terrible. I've bought so many differing brand modems over the years. They all had issues playing games or they fried within a few months. This one has stood the time and has served me extremely well. I use it's built in NAT protection. I'm not using port forward or port triggers for STO's ports in case you're wondering.
Just went in game and all is fine. No other test really needs to be done. Now time to exit game and redo the STO registry setting.
Now i'm not saying it's all on your end. And i'm trying to insult anyone. However it's probable that it is your end and or your ISP. Now and then sure there are problems on their end. Yes i rubberband now and then and yes i get DCed now and then. Usually it's the cogenco server in Boston, Ma that's too conjested. And sometimes its other servers, actually quite often. Now and then it's the Cryptic server itself. But these are rare situations. All you can do is run pathping or download and run winmtr. If you post a winmtr report I will try to diagnose it for you. Use 208.95.186.231 for gameplay if you're in the US. Or use whatever cryptic server you use.
Since the Windows update 14971 I couldn't start Arc so I uninstalled it and wanted to install it again, but when I clicked the Arc Setup icon it showed me Updating X of 86883 KB. Then it disappeared. Since that I can't even start the Setup.
