honestly I think and hope this is just like the steamrunner... touching up an older model, especially since the NX-01 makes a brief appearance in the game's episode chain. If they do make a t6 I'd prefer it to be the refit tho. Frankly, while its a cools ship, I don't really want to see a t6 nx or a t5u

Personally I hope this is just an update to the NX. If it's T6 however then it's just showing once again that there is zero design sense in Cryptic's future. The T6 Connie is the most OP ship for it's size, and if 8 Beams almost drown out the Connie, just think what it will look like on an NX at it's current size! There's no way small ships should/would match the firepower of Dreadnoughts many times their size!

If there's anything the future storylines teach us, it's that size doesn't matter. Look at the power of Kal Dano's timeship.

So yes, highly advanced small ships can match or exceed the firepower of older, less advanced dreadnoughts.

Whilst I know what you mean, I said nothing about 'older, less advanced'. The technology we're using on each individual ship is of the same era.

Hrm, if I remember correctly, wasn't the actress that played the captain of the NX-02 Columbia signed on for VO work for STO a while back?

This could simply be a precluding touch up to the model in preparation for whatever content that needs a new NX model.

My thinking also. It's most likely a 'Yesterday's War' episode involving Enterprise. I stand by what I said earlier. Current meta is reducing differences in actual ship performance. There's less emphasis on actual Sci,Tac and Eng roles than compared to T5 and earlier, meaning that Space combat is purely becoming Arcade-like than Canon-like.

    Arcade's fine by me :D

Well, the NX-refit is in use by Pocket Books in their Rise of the Federation series, while Eaglemoss got the rights to do a model, and it's appeared in the "ships of the line" calendars.

So it's about as official as you get without being onscreen, and it doesn't look like Drexler is stingy with whatever rights he has to it.

*Sigh* So it would seem that there is a strong possibility that even a ship based on an ancient design is more T6 worthy than the Nova class.....

I think the truth - rightly or wrongly - is that more people want to fly an endgame NX than an endgame Nova. Or perhaps, there are more people (muggins here included) who'd pay lockbox / promo prices to do so.

And ironically, the NXs fit in far better with their 25C counterparts than the 23C ships do. Which was one of the things the haters didn't like in the first place...

Oh don't worry - I've accepted that the Nova isn't even a blip on the Dev radar and have posted about this fact before. I mean, recently ship releases have been something like Cruiser Cruiser Cruiser Escort Cruiser Escort Cruiser Cruiser Cruiser Sci-ship bundle possible T6 Light Escort..... there's not going to be a T6 Nova any time soon.

I tend to think, at this point, that almost no-one wants to fly a T6 Nova, hence why I've toned down my previously incessant posting about it.

You would be wrong friend, I would LOVE a T6 Nova/Rhode Island with a model overhaul. It's an awesome little ship!

Question: Why do they revamp ship skins? Why can't they make them nice the first time out?
Redoing it admits that they didnt a haphazard hurried job the first time and got people to pay for it.

most of the ones that get a facelift are skins from launch when system requirements were MUCH lower and the average video card capable of MUCH less

There was a version of the NX with an engineering hull added at some stage, it would be nice if the new NX would be made like it.

Oh yes, great news. I so hope for the NX refit model to make it into the game as well.

That is based off of the assumption of TARDIS technology being present. Which is clearly the case with Kal Dano's timeship with references to it being bigger on the inside from Future Tense episode from Enterprise and Sunrise mission. Although, it seems like only his timeship has TARDIS technology considering the size of the 29th and 31st Century starships.

It would be interesting to see if the Delta Flyer matches or exceeds the firepower of the NX considering that the NX is about 200 years older than the Delta Flyer. The Delta Flyer should be a highly advanced small ship that likely matches or exceeds the firepower of the older, less advanced dreadnought of the NX. Although, dreadnought is somewhat a bit of a reach to classify the NX, but it was the most advanced Earth ship at the time.

Lack of skill/experience, reference material or time or a technical restrictions (polygon counts, texture size).

You mean redoing admits that they did a haphazard hurried job the first time, and got people to pay for it?

Sure, but the people that paid for it will get that update, they don't have to spend another money. The value of what they paid for increases thanks to Cryptic redoing the model, which is still better than Cryptic not redoing the model.

The more I think about it, a couple of 22C missions and a new NX would be the logical conclusion of AoY.

I mean, the focus has been on TOS (and to a lesser extent the Kelvin timeline); but all of the underpinning plot and ideas are from Enterprise. Na'kuhl, Temporal Agents, Temporal Cold War, Procyon V, 26C Fed ships, Sphere Builders..... all Enterprise plot lines. Yet all we've had is a very brief cameo by the NX-01 in Vorgon Conclusions.

And as another thought; we know from ST:ID that the NX class existed in the Kelvin timeline as well, so that could even be a way of getting it in-game.

Actually it was Star Trek: Beyond. ST: ID is the one with all the messed up Wrath of Khan references. For the NX class to be in the game through that route, then it would have to be a NX retrofit since the NX in the Prime Universe and Kelvin Universe are supposed to be the same since it was before Nero destroyed the USS Kelvin.

This raises the question of whether there is actually a USS Franklin and Krall in the Prime Universe since the only mention of the ship is in Star Trek: Beyond. It might be a possible storyline for Star Trek: Discovery.

"Beyond" certainly has a lot of ENT references in it. But I was thinking specifically of the model of an NX-class on Admiral Marcus' desk. It's the one indicator that the Kelvin NX class was identical to its Prime timeline counterpart (unlike, say, the Constitution classes).

As I said though, each to their own.

Well, that's exactly what it was meant to be in-universe :). It's the halfway stage between the single-hull starfleet ships of the 22nd Century and the dual-hull versions of the 23rd. [

There is a Trekyards video where it is explained that the creator (Doug Drexler) always intended to do this kind of refit, so it was not an afterthought.

I don't like that silly looking ship; thats my prerogative.

I agree with you seeing opposing views is good food for thought. Just like I love the NX and don't like the nova.

To me the nova looks like an Intrepid that they shrunk on one axis, and switched the Nacelles.

It is a good example of Beauty in the Eye of the beholder thing. I do hope you get your T6 Nova one day so good luck.

Regardless, I don't like it. To me it looks clumsy and silly, like someone simply slapped an NX class atop something that resembles a Constitution class primary hull. I have difficulty seeing it as one ship.

I am not in anyway disagreeing with your opinion nor am I trying to sway it. All I am saying is that the creator did not do it as an afterthought, but it seems like I did misread the way you said it. But you don't need to overreact about it.

I don't see the point of making the NX try resemble the Constitution at all. There's a century between them and at least two design blocks of ships. The old rough ships like the Daedalus and the Bonaventure and the Kelvin style ships (Kelvin, Mayflower, Newton, Armstrong etc.) which don't resemble the Constitution in the slightest. The Bonaventure is the only ship there that even vaguely resembles one.

I know what it is, which is why I'm questioning it. It's like asking for a TOS Constitution to get its neck removed so it could resemble the Sovereign more.
It's a ship trying to be made to look like another ship a century ahead skipping the intermediate designs. Hell, the Franklin looks more advance than the NX due to having a few little features that resemble the Kelvin ships (main window, impulse engines etc.)
