Note the last photos with lighting for the refit secondary hull.
Gub it. The *one* Fed ship I'd go promo pack prices over, and here it is. I just hope there's no concurrent Klingon ship, I don't think my wallet would take it....

Look closer, there's no hull there (note the stars). There simply appears to be a few windows placed underneath the ship. Could this be a prelude to a secondary hull configuration? (not yet available but what the standard type 04 windows are glitched to wrap around?) Possibly, the floating windows seem to be in the right places, but it's worth noting that when the sovy was being updated on tribble some hull options had this same problem (older window sets floating below the hull).
I wouldn't necessarily take it as confirmation that the problematic refit-NX (CBS doesn't own it) is coming to STO.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
That's true. Doug Drexler designed the NX-01 and the NX-01 refit, and cryptic has already worked with the designers of ship's that are not strictly speaking canon (Mark Rademaker on the Vesta anyone?), so it's not outside the realm of possibility that the NX refit may be coming to STO. Doug Drexler was severely disappointed that the NX refit never made it on screen and I can see him agreeing to giver her new life in the game.
So it's about as official as you get without being onscreen, and it doesn't look like Drexler is stingy with whatever rights he has to it.
I think the truth - rightly or wrongly - is that more people want to fly an endgame NX than an endgame Nova. Or perhaps, there are more people (muggins here included) who'd pay lockbox / promo prices to do so.
And ironically, the NXs fit in far better with their 25C counterparts than the 23C ships do. Which was one of the things the haters didn't like in the first place...
What do you think comes next for an R&D Promotion in an Infinity R&D Promotion that lasts a month? A new single/Faction Choice ship R&D Promotion.
I am left wondering what that ship may be.
'Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to figure out what the Klingon and Romulan ships would be.
As always, should you or any of the other Posters be attacked or trolled, I will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This post will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck.'
l don't know.
l really don't know what l'm about to say, except l have a feeling about it.
That l must repeat the words that come without my knowledge.'
Klink-side, the obvious candidates are the D5 Battlecruiser and 22C Bird of Prey. I struggle to see how they'd distinguish the 22C BoP from the D4X; probably only a different specialisation, I guess, but that was enough for the two Constitution classes. The D5 turned up in a "refit" form as a Raptor for AoY (IMO, a brilliant piece of bridging) so they could do a playable D5 Raptor.
Well, possibly, but it wouldn't really fit thematically. We're looking at things which could be a KDF / Rom counterpart to the NX (and its refit); that really means 22C designs, whether onscreen or Cryptic / Pocket Books ones. The D5 would fit much better (and canonically was in-service until near Kirk's era; Kor mentioned commanding one).
The Ddraig is very obviously a 23C design with the plain lines of that era.
Single obsolete consoles like the 3-pack T5 Scimitar ones with a worthless thalaron pulse 3-piece bonus is essentially a $60 USD (or $90 if bought separately) for 3 active abilities whose only use is leveling a L50 alt or at best role-play is a very poor form of marketing.
I know, Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it and T6 bug ship capabilities is old news, but it still happened, still left a giant void in player numbers which is bad for everyone, empty fleet rosters and friends lists, etc, and still has left a real bitter taste to all of STO and an aversion to re-buying anything and feeding the power creep.
The NX is quite nice reminder of ENT, already have the model from a giveaway, but I wouldn't care to buying it at T6 much less lockbox/lobi/promo.
Hey, I'm right there with you on wanting a T6 Nova. I originally planned on making that my main ship, back when the game was still in development and before they'd released details on how ship tiers and rank would work
Who cares?! Quit thinking like some sorta Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. Enjoy it if we get it, and if it really eats at your craw, DON'T USE IT.
Me, too
Also, the Bussard collectors now spin. However, I've watched some clips of ENT, and in the show they didn't seem to do so, but I may just have been unlucky in finding a proper clip of them.
They did not spin, at most, they just glowed with some red swirls...I think.
Maybe this will be of the upgraded NX Doug wanted to make for later seasons.
They make one, me gets it
This could simply be a precluding touch up to the model in preparation for whatever content that needs a new NX model.
My thinking also. It's most likely a 'Yesterday's War' episode involving Enterprise. I stand by what I said earlier. Current meta is reducing differences in actual ship performance. There's less emphasis on actual Sci,Tac and Eng roles than compared to T5 and earlier, meaning that Space combat is purely becoming Arcade-like than Canon-like.
Between mk14 gold everything and a proliferation of universal seats, just about any build can be put on any ship and pump out more than enough damage to deal with anything in pve. The only times nowadays I fell truly 'alive' are when I play a drain ship or a torp bomber, the older archetypes that aren't about raw damage.
If there's anything the future storylines teach us, it's that size doesn't matter. Look at the power of Kal Dano's timeship.
So yes, highly advanced small ships can match or exceed the firepower of older, less advanced dreadnoughts.
That's why I switched over to canon builds on canon ships. Not necessarily career matched ships (i.e. my tactical captain LOVES his new T6 Nebula, and I have a sci alt that enjoys a Fleet T6 Gal-X) But also limits Feds to phasers and photon/quantum. My Klingons to disruptor and photon, and my Romulans to disruptors and plasma torps. Adds several unique challenges as the canon ships traditionally are NOT the best in their class by a long shot. (T6 Defiant, looking at you)
