@ambassadorkael#6946 I know it's very early over your side, but some information would be nice. Even if all you can say is "servers are indeed down, we're looking into it". Just so we know that you are aware and doing your best to fix it?

Apparently the maintenance was announced, but only on Facebook and the Arc launcher. Not in-game, not on the game launcher, and nothing on the forum lol.

mmmm, usual cryptic TRIBBLE up ,right hand dont no what the left hand,s doing.

They're a business, I'm pretty sure they are aware of the problem and are working on it. They don't need to waste that time coming here to hold our hands while we wait for them to fix the server.

Businesses are in the business to make money. Server down=revenue loss, so yeah, they're working on it.

has anyone though that maybe the maintenance this time includes the account server as well?, some mmo games have separate game and account servers, mmos like ESO do account and login server maint usually on a monthly basis.

Is it really too much to ask they drop us a line? It is barely 630am in California. Why wouldn't they be asleep. Anyway, someone started a thread in reddit, so hopefully someone is aware.

One of the CMs over on the Neverwinter forum just replied. Just that they're aware that there's an issue and that they're working on it, but still it's good to know it's not just us going nuts.

I'd rather they work on the problem rather than coming here to wipe our noses and hold our hands cause we can't sensibly assume that a business knows when there's a problem and is working on it.

On Facebook it says consoles maintenance. They also pulled the plug on Champions Online that doesn't have a console version.

I follow their facebook page, they only announced maintenance for Console, not PC.

And it was announced as starting at 7am PST, server went down on PC, long before 7am PST. So it doubt it's an issue with it just being in maintenance. Plus side note, usually when the game is offline due to maintenance, you can still access the patch server, just not the account server.

Just glad that it wasn't just me. Thought something was wrong on my end. While it would be nice to have an official word here on the STO forums, we do at least have official word from Cryptic.

With luck things will be back up and running 'shortly'.

Same problem here. I'm of the impression that this is a DDoS attack, with it being Cyber Monday yesterday and all. So much for a gaming session on my only day off this week. Guess I'll have to go the bar. Romulan Ale, here I come!

I figured it was maintenance due to the day and time (bit pissed about it, as I suspect I'm now going to miss out on 25% off thr Excelsior refit... Such is life...) but, they really should have someone respond to the thread to confirm/deny... You mentioned that this is a business, and businesses exist to make money: Yes it is, and yes they do... Part of the unspoken buyer/seller dynamic is mutual respect and communication to prevent issues like this...
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,914 Arc User
Actually, maint for computer game is on Thursday. The maint announced on FB was for console.

Still, you mention mutual respect. I haven't seen much of that from player side in the three threads that have been started on this problem. Just people demanding someone get in there and say something. Me? I'd rather they worked on the problem and I trust they are working on the problem without having to come in here and hold the hands of those in a demanding mood.

That's more respectful than demanding something from anyone.

Yes, you've said that 5 or 6 times now, we get it. However, any intelligently run business would spare 5 minutes from one of the people who's job it is to communicate with the community to post a message on their own gaming forum saying "We're aware of the issue and are working on it, updates posted later".
  • jdstories#7005 jdstories Member Posts: 10 Arc User
You speak as though it would be such a huge drain on resources for them to log onto the forums and leave a couple of sentences. You would have a point if it were a 10 minute fix, but it has been over an hour. For someone to type up a simple communique would not have any appreciable effect on the game's downtime. That should be clear. If you're so old, then you should understand that not every company has the best and most motivated people on staff at all times. You go ahead and trust in their business model. Asking that anybody else do the same is just your smugness coming across.
  • echattyechatty Member Posts: 5,914 Arc User
I guess I'm in a minority then, preferring to trust that the issue is being worked on without someone coming out to say it's being worked on.

Generally saying that on these forums usually has the people who demanded said statement coming in to demand more, (what's wrong? What are you doing to fix it? When will it be fixed? When will I be able to play?)

That's been my experience every time the server goes down. And now I am done.

I didn't even get ingame. I was logging into the launchers for my Arc Quests. It did register for STO, just the launcher wouldn't launch.

I'm not exactly happy myself, but I make the best of bad situations rather than throw a conniption fit over it ;)

My wife is about to come home and take over the computer for work, so it really couldn't have happened at a worse time.
