I'm F2P and I have no problem with this. it is what it is and that is all it is. Rattler2 saved enough Dil to purchase the LoR Bundle and just announced in another thread he purchased the Science Bundle with Dilithium he earned ingame.

All the time you spent complaining OP? You could have been in the game. Earning Dilithium. So you could then run back here and brag about how you haven't spent a dime on this game since 1965.

Touchy subject. Maybe one day Cryptic will make an effort to control it...
That being said, I make close to a million Dilithium a month and very little is made for the Cstore these days, so I tend to save it up more than I spend it...
Zen goes on Sale Exchange Goes up by 10 what you al doing to this game? LOL
'Cuz not every player strictly only open their wallet to buy Zen. I am actually surprised it took a while for the exchange rate to increase. This morning (about 3hours ago) it was still sitting at about 424:1.

My suspicion is that people serious about dil farming simply had enough time and incentive to up the production. So, there's way, way more dil than there was a year ago when rates were far lower and far more volatile. (IIRC, it shot up from 200 to 250 on last year's BF sale.)
Things that kept the rate down previously (upgrades, fleet holdings, etc.) and even a few new sinks like those Kelvin uniforms simply are too little too late now.
Now, as far as Crytic's bottom line is concerned, as long as there are people willing to buy zen to get dil it largely doesn't matter. As far as the actual player experience goes though, having more people spend more time churning farming alts instead of actually playing might be not a very good thing.
Of course, I'm sort of a dil market anti-expert, whenever I make a prediction something else entirely happens...
they are always certain now to inundate us with sales during an upgrade weekend to keep the price above 400. In this case they added the upgrade weekend to a known sales weekend. I doubt there will ever be a chance to dump at the wonderful price of 399! sarcasm. But when it gets around 480 they will panic again and offer some silly costume for 10 million.
I came into upgrade weekend with around 15 million refined and will go out around 14 million. I'd finish making everything epic on all characters but it's just too much clicking to make the upgrade kits.

Not Complaining I am at Cap out un-refined dil about to Cap at refined dil if this exchange stays as high as it is. I needs to go back down to the 250 range.
yeah the absolute floor is probably 390 and that would take a lot of time with no sales and something like another upgrade weekend without a sale - which won't happen. Fleet stuff no longer helps. Not enough fleets participate anymore - just rely on invites.

So you're part of that 12 Billion Refined Dilthium problem Borticus was speaking of the other day. Don't you know a Fleet whcih could use your help? Or are you just selfish? The Exchange needs to stay right where it is. Which is where the playerbase has decided it needs to be.

Imagine the sticker shock for people like me who have been away from the game a while. It's 4x higher than the last time I played, and don't get me started on the ludicrousness that is the EC exchange these days. Holy TRIBBLE Batman. It's REALLY hard for people who don't live in the game to get anywhere now.

Only if you're f2p, refuse to spend real money to support the game, and you're too lazy to do Admiralty. Admiralty gets you 30K dil every couple of weeks plus well over 100K EC per day plus mats to sell for more EC.
Plus, thanks to the Infinity boxes many lockbox items are much cheaper than a couple of years ago, like a Plasmonic Leech for under 5 million EC.
((shrug)) After I bought a few of the super favorably priced key rings, I put the left over zeni up for dilithium trade. If I get 435:1 for it great, if not it can just sit there.

Then you ain't gonna ever be spending refined dil for the exchange than. I hope you are helping your fleet out with all that dil you ain't using.

I spent a ton of Dil on my Fleet and the exchange needs to go back down to at least 230-250 range FYI I have seen it as low as 99 back in the day.
It may go down that far (spoilers: NOT!) but I'm not spending my real money to buy monopoly money for anything close to that ratio. While you might hold the line, there's plenty of other people grinding out dilithium every day who are willing to meet my terms.

I long for those days..
Just needs Cryptic to get of their hands and make regular Dilithium items, to make it rare again!
Sunfrancks is correct in this assessment. There's a spreadsheet out there online that tacks daily prices of all sto currency. You can see when the dramatic rise occurred and kept right on going due to the influx of dil. The upgrade system only bought us some time but it has no power anymore. Those that claim this is some sort of player controlled economy are flat wrong, as I've said maybe 100 times on here. This is an entirely "government" controlled economy. And here the government has realized enough people will grind for 450 exchange rate so they will keep it there - from 420 to 480 - is now Cryptic's sweet spot. Earlier they were afraid people would log out if it got over 300.
Here's a proposal which benefits me but would also work and would generate $$$ for the company. Open up a direct EC to dil exchange( going both ways). This would cause massive inflation to EC prices. But Cryptic loses nothing in that. To keep up with the inflation dil would become desirable again. People may even begin buying it to sell for EC on the exchange. Cryptic wins. As do the dil barons like myself. The losers would be the dil poor, but they can always go support the game by buying zen and converting to dil right?

well i don't think inflation would be that bad. I would say it would be more like doubling prices. but even if it was a tenfold increase that wouldn't push anyone out. also remember there is crafting for all your equipment needs. and you can always buy zen!
i said it was a selfish remedy. hehe.

The dil exchange was heading for a cliff years ago imho. I got what I could, as fast as I could while it was still reasonable, and now I sell zen instead of buying it.
I only buy zen back for the C-Store when I'm way out ahead on dilithium and feel like eating a $20 ice cream cone.

I sacrificed much Dil grind at 421 D/z in your favor, but I blame it on the awesome new Sci ships released of late.
