For free? They don't need to give away broadly something that so many are screaming to buy. No, it won't be free.
Which is ironic considering the Third Rule of Acquisition; "Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to."

Like the WoK Vests and Jackets and the MACO uniform were added after years of players begging for them - for millions of DIl for single-character unlocks?
Once again I do wonder how they came up with those figures - how many people did they assume (and you know what they say about assuming) have that much refined dilithium lying around? Did it not occur to them that such a pricing - as opposed to adding them to the Z-store - would come across as the proverbial raised digit to the majority of the player base?
More on point, repetitiveepic's suggestion - make the ship itself available via other means, but without the special hull pattern - is eminently sensible and, as I opined, also presents a much less offensive implementation of 'exclusivity' for event ships. Hypothetical example: a future summer event has one of the other members of the Vorgon ship trifecta (cruiser or Arbarel-class dreadnought; imagery of both can be seen here) as a reward. The reward package actually contains two items: the 'ship pack' itself, plus a 'vanity shield' that fits only in that ship's shield visual slot; in subsequent events, the project may still be queued, but the reward package will not include the vanity item.
It wasn't well thought out nor intelligently implemented. Anyway not losing sleep over it. I'm an American watching our election tonight. In the grand scheme of things, PWE Chinese foolishness is not top of my list.
Doesn't matter how people got the original T6 Nagus Marauder. The point of this thread is to get out to the devs that it's time a version of the T6 Nagus Marauder is made available to us Ferengi, and non Ferengi alike.

Another fail example of the criteria.
There was no criteria. It was completely random. Which makes it the perfect example of a counter-promotional.
I could care less. My ships do what I need them to do. Doesn't mean I need to pretend otherwise. It was a stupid counter-factual. The only result was some folks got something they didn't expect or value, and some got nothing and wondered why they didn't.
It was simply a mindless exercise that gained nothing, probably lost a bit, and then we all resumed our lives.
It's not the player reaction at point. It's just one of those things like an avalanche. But even an avalanche obeys certain rules. It was a mindless giveaway that irritated, made no public/social impact, and in the end was laughable.
Which is ironic considering the Third Rule of Acquisition; "Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to."
It's hard to pay more than you need to for something like this. Who ever wants it will have to pay what they will have to pay or if its a Winter Event ship, grind how long they have to grind, to get it.
I'm sure you are 100% correct about that. However, if you want to play as a Ferengi, you have to play Federation. There are no KDF Ferengi, nor Romulan. So, as far as game mechanics go, Ferengi are Federation. Just as Andorians, Caitians and Vulcans are sub races of Federation, game play wise. Andorian, Vulcan and Caitian ships can be bought with zen. It just makes sense that you should be able to do the same for Ferengi ships.
Yeah, according to the lore of Path to 2409, Grand Nagus Rom propose an alliance with the Federation. That proposal was shot down.
Ferengi enlist in Starfleet as individuals and were inspired by Nog. The Klingons dislike the Ferengi, they have no honor for they are a cowardly race that ultimately desire profit by any means necessary which typically involves manipulating finances and business transactions. In a fight where they do not have an overwhelming advantage they usually run away. That is not the way of a warrior.
The Romulan Republic have their own problems to deal with such as putting aside their differences with the Remans to build a new homeworld so that both Remans and Romulan live and cooperate with each other. I do not recall the Romulans having any direct business with the Ferengi in TNG or DS9. The only missions in STO where there was a Ferengi involved were Mine Enemy and Warehouse (on New Romulus) where Madran were basically taking advantage of and cheating the Romulans.
Since I have not watched any of the Star Trek: TAS episodes, I have no background info on the Caitians. However, Andorians, Humans, Tellarites and Vulcans are the founding members of the Federation. Therefore, it makes more sense in STO for a Tellarite ship to be in the game... Unless there is one that I am not aware of, or they simply use the "standard" Starfleet design.
Your logic is sound, as is your knowledge of Trek lore. Still, I was talking mostly about game play mechanics. KDF players can buy Nausicaan, Gorn and Orion ships with zen. I could be wrong, but I don't think those three races are to the KDF what the Vulcans and Andorians are to the Federation. The Caitians, as I understand it, are based on the Kzinti who only appeared in TAS. Of the six sub-races I mentioned, I would think the Caitians would be the least likely to be represented in the z-store. I think the real issue with Ferengi ships and the z-store is based on the technicalities entangled in the contract Cryptic has with CBS, about what can be sold for Zen and what can't. Obviously, I don't have access to that document. I thought that a race had to be a playable part of a faction for it's ships to be in the z-store, but I could be wrong. People want the ship. I just hope Cryptic gives or sells it to us in a reasonable way, and that it is account wide or faction wide.
If you read all the forums about this, the common thread is the players that got this WEREN'T active at the time.

Both the above are examples of totally inaccurate anecdotes with no basis in reality. Fact remains that of all those we've asked, and at the time we asked a lot, the only common denominator was the spend value over the last 12 months. If it's something else then I don't know what, but clearly not the two examples above. All the folks I know who have one are very active and most of them use the original launcher, not arc.
You are proving my point, since you are on the forum you have an ARC account. But you don't play from the Arc launcher. So to Cryptic as they are tracking through their launcher (not the old launcher many use, or Steam, or Linux) which you aren't using......so you showed up as a non active player.

Personally, I am half expecting the Flying Saucer or Boomerang from the Lukari ship contest to be the 2017 Summer Event ship with the Flying Saucer being the more likely candidate due to its popularity.
A ship that was rewarded to random players for their unwavering loyalty doesn't make sense as an Event ship since there is no point for the winners to grind for that ship. Even a reskin job doesn't make sense for the same reason. Why bother with the standard Tier 6 Nagus Marauder when you have the gold-plated Tier 6 Nagus Marauder. A new Ferengi Lockbox would make more sense for this ship.

A Vorgon ship is a strong possibility for Summer 2017 considering that the console that came with the 2016 summer ship says it can be used on "any vorgon ship."
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
Ummm no they can and do track log ins by people on Steam & the stand alone STO launcher.
Do they? I have never seen or heard anything from a Dev that indicates PWE monitors that. Esp with the huge push a couple years ago to start using the ArcLauncher as that was the only officially supported login? I am wholly prepared to be wrong, but I was under the impression that Steam tracked it's own stuff, and the standalone launcher was officially dead to Cryptic when they dropped Mac/Linux support? Again, please educate me if I'm off, I just saw that as the common denominator when viewing all the Nagus threads a couple months ago?
From what the two of us in our fleet that received this gift were able to work out, you needed to have spent $1000 in 12 months to receive the ship. I have heard of people 'saying' they got it for spending nothing but I have not seen any proof of that. In the end it was probably a once only gift to big spenders. I would imagine they will do something similar in the future, it may be the Nandi, it may be something even more desirable, perhaps a gold plated Borg Diamond lol, but whatever it is you'd best start flashing your latinum in Cryptic's direction if you want to be on the list.
Incorrect. I've spent no where near $1000 on this game in the entire time I've played and certainly not in 12 months. I'm not sure how one shows proof of having not spent money, but I can say with certainty that my being here should be evidence enough given what my wife would do to me if I had spent that kinda money.
She reads the forums too then, yeah, I understand mate, you've spent bugger all, I'll vouch for that Mrs kjfett
You missed the point...she isn't on the forums so I would have no reason to hide it here. She can see the bank account so were I to have spent the equivalent of what we spend on the kids for Xmas, on this game for myself...yeah...like I said, nothing even close to that.

Completely random and a bit of a disgrace to be honest.
Some people received two codes (don't think they were able to use them both though). Some people who hadn't played for a long time received it. Some people who hadn't spent a thing on the game for years received it. The assumption that it was only given to players who spent $XXXX on the game was proven false.
It was a complete shambles.
The code on the card in the box was bugged. They sent a valid one via email. If the code on the box had been good, many of those that got the code, but not box, wouldn't have gotten anything at all.
...Further proof that using codes for promotions just doesn't seem to work too well...

I use the ARC launcher and was active at the time I received the initial email asking me to update my mailing address as well as when the box arrived. While I had been on a break before that, it had only been a couple of months, January/February, that I was absent and I doubt they saw that two months as a reason to try and get me to come back.

Also there are three Vorgon ships as Foundry assets that are fully customizable.
If you read the Lukari Ship Design Contest Blogs you would know that they were designing it to be the Anniversary Ship. If you think about it, it makes sense as we are in the midst of a Story Arc involving the Lukari and Kuumaarke is speaking about their new ship being designed.

No you do not "need" it, and you aren't a ferengi either, even if there were real ferengi you disqualified yourself by offering to spend your money. Remember, once you have their money you never give it back.
You do not need it, I however, do. Of course I am a Ferengi, I can afford this ship, and I'll still have and continue to make my profits.
And having a T6 marauder is a very useful tool for "convincing" others to help Mr. Gelt obtain profit.

It would certainly make getting those profits much more entertaining for me, and getting to pew pew bad guys in the Ferengi flagship would be awesome for me.

A new Featured Episode that will coincide with the Anniversary will magically appear. You run the FE, get your 400 of the 2017 Thingamabobs©® and some piece of a set of whatever. After grinding Blue, Yellow, and Red Omega particles to get you through to having accumulated 1,000 of those 2017 Thingamsbobs©® by getting 40 more a day for 15 days you unlock the Lukari Boomerang for your Account. When the Anniversary Festivities are over the Boomerang is pulled from the Mission so that it has that sweet, sweet smell of Exclusivity™.
We then start a new cycle of complaints/requests to make it available to those that were (pick one or more of the following):
1. Not yet playing at the time.
2. Too busy with real life to get to it.
3. Had Internet connection problems and missed the last 40 Thingamabobs©®.
4. Cryptic started the patching too early on that last day so I was cheated out of three hours when I was going to do the final.
