Design #5 looks too much like it was designed by the Son'a. I like the aesthetics of the Son'a ships but, I would prefer the actual things. I would love to see the Son'a race and ships added to the KDF.
I like both #3 and #5. Could be fun to have a saucer-shaped ship in the game *
Number 2 looked too much like the T'Varo to me, when looking at its front section. And number six would only lead to more threads of people who are seeing certain things in the shape of their ships.
* Maybe Borg Spheres will be possible too guys. Vote 3
Personally I never liked upward or downward arching wings or strange bows on starships. It may make sense on airplanes, on spaceships it's just silly.
You're losing a lot of space, unnecessarily. Take the Scimitar for example: how much of that ship is actually space that can be practically put to good use? It's just a small box with giant wings, basically. Perhaps if they'd been horizontal wings it might have made a bit of sense. Now it's just a 'cool' design. Maybe nice to look at for some, but not very logical or practical.
Same for other illogical designs like the D'Deridex. A thin layer of metal around a huge gap, that's what 3/4 of the D'Deridex' size represents.
So I guess that, if it comes down to #3 or #5, I'll go for 3 eventually.
For me... #2 looks like a boomerang, #4 looks like a hood ornament, #5 looks like a handle for a Halo glowsword. If it were up to me I'd drop those three before any voting. Of the three that are left I'd have to vote for #1. It's not so simple as a disk nor does it present a huge front area. But that's just me.
Firing arcs are simple. Imagine a circle, draw an X in the circle, put the ship in the middle of circle. Not sure about you but just because the ship has an odd shape doesn't change the circle at all.
There would be no difference in firing arcs, functionally, for the game.
It would make a difference if the ships were REAL, and had to deal with very close-in targets that were properly scaled in size.

There is no difference. The firing arc values do not change when you place the arrays on a smaller ship. There is no functional difference, in the game. This is the second time I've typed this.

the degree doesnt change...no. but then again thats not what im talkin about. 90 will be 90 regardless. HOWEVER the VOLUME of AREA COVERED by said 90 changes based on the NOSE of your ship. 4 is ALL nose.

Third time: It does not make afunctionaldifference in-game. If you broadside, you have front and rear arrays firing on the same target, it doesn't matter how close they are to each other on the hull, for the game. There is no way, in the game, for it to make any difference in your effectiveness. The size scaling in the game is not realistic, there will be no circumstance where anything will get inside those firing arcs on a large ship.
It doesn't matter how effective it would be if the ships were REAL, all that matters is how the ships and equipment function in the game, where the ships are not real and are not subject to realistic size scaling and the resulting geometries of that reality.

IMO, the Charlie- and Delta-designs are the ONLY one of them that are actually unique-looking... And Charlie adds the classic Flying-Saucer-50's-Sci-Fi-touch, so I will vote for that one as often as I can.
As for the other designs, they all look like your every-week-starships we already have plenty of. Beta looks like a Rommie-BoP, Epsilon looks like the product of a Stargate-deathglider and a Son'a-warship, and I suppose we'll get some Son'a-vessels someday in the future anyways (one of the many candidates for lockboxes), while that last design looks like a baby-Voth-Citadel.
Design #5 looks too much like it was designed by the Son'a. I like the aesthetics of the Son'a ships but, I would prefer the actual things. I would love to see the Son'a race and ships added to the KDF.

dont make son'a look like ships make son'a ships.
I'm not fond of any of them, not because they're bad but because they don't look "primitive" enough. All six of the proposed designs look more like something I'd expect from the Tholians or even the 31st century Starfleet than a young race making the first steps beyond their homeworld.
I was hoping the Lukari ship would be a bit more like the Enterprise NX-01: bulky, raw, not unlike speculative NASA designs. They mentioned a rotating crew section in the last blog; that would've been awesome to see. It also definitely shouldn't be T6, but I know there's not much chance of that changing. :P

I have to agree... Design 5 is too much like a Son'a ship.

Tactical, Science, Engineering, Intel, Command and Pilot variants?
What, no Temporal Variant?
I still think the front and rear arcs for BAs would overlap to the point its almost like having all Omnis

I'll say it, I ain't scared. It is because they are stupid.
That makes no sense. It changes nothing.

i like that triangle shape.
