Unable to fully download patch

So this has become something of a problem every time a new patch comes out. Presently my launcher is sitting at 4661kb/35mb, though I've received over 500 mb, and this will continue well into the gb range.

I've already reinstalled the game, during the previous patch that also had this problem.

    I have the same issue. Patching stops at 98.5%. It appears to still be downloading but isn't. Patching rarely takes more than a minute. I have 100 mbps Internet.

    I'm having the same problem with today's patch. Verifying files and switching on on-demand patching didn't help.

    I've been downloading this patch now for just about an hour now and I'm not even at 15% WTF is going?

    Even season patches didn't take this long!

    Can someone PLEASE look into this?

    17Mb to go, stops dead at 11.3Mb. Tried a dozen times now. At the start of the patch when it was full, it stopped at 3%, so it has made some progress...

    I was able to "fix" this last Thursday only by uninstalling the game and re-downloading the whole thing. That sucked, but it worked. However, it didn't work today when I had the same problem again.

    I hit ctrl-X to see what files it's stuck on and it's these shadercache files: http://imgur.com/25M8NRx

    They download to 100% then roll over to 0% and restart.

    Had this issue a few times, thought it was just me but it appears there are other victims of it too.
    Do the devs even notice or care? I've lodged tickets to no avail. I love this game, even sunk some money into it so naturally I want to play it but this patching bug has to be one of the worst game breaking issues in STO history.

    Tried reinstalling/downloading which helped with last weeks patch but they can't honestly expect me to do that for every patch!

    Im gettin an error36/ file locked. Windows 10.
    I called my security and tried downloading while antivirus was off, not any help.(I closed the update and restarted it for that)
    I have the settings set like suggested it looks like.
    I submitted a worthless ticket...though maybe ill get response.

    ^yea..i am in a bad spot here....my local line has a tech commin to check my bad connection.
    but game has worked fine enough ,just slow 4 me b4 the patch.
    A reload of the game w slow connect will take all night

    Yeah my wife and I both have been having this issue on and off for a long time now with STO (and only sto btw). We use completely different systems too (one intel one amd). We've both reinstalled the whole game more than once and we often have to restart patches over and over just to get them to go through

    my issue started with the p[atch released on the 17th dec. i have not been able to log in since gets stuck at either 2% or 41 %.

    Same here patch gets to 44-46% and stops, its looks like its down loading the entire game as I've chewed through 40gb worth of data in the last 2days. Reistall didin't work either does the same thing. Been playing since Beta never had a patch do this before. So Dev's if your reading this help need my STO fix.

    Yup, happening again. New patch. Attempt download: Hangs at 15%.

    This has happened for the LAST FOUR PATCHES. A few days later it seems to clear.

    Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    WTF is the problem with this game. i bought 3 pack battlecruisers 4 days ago and now i cant even play the fk game
    After the last update i play for around 2 hours than i got disconetc and now every time i run STO im stuck on the launcher loading. even when i launch the game exe and bypass the launcher i login in game im stuck on [ conecting to acaunt server]

    I dont have any problem with any other games that i play online only this fk game.

    I play war thunder, world of warships, world of tanks, world of warcraft, AION every other game runs with no problem.

    I restart by PC several time i check the firewal options on both win7 and my antivirus i even disable my antivirus sever times, i run both the launcher and the game exe as administrator but nothing refuse to work.

    Any idea on how to get this fk game runing

    This has also been happening to me for a while now (months) and really pisses me off as I have limited time to play and have missed out on bonus weekends and events prizes because of it. Today is day 3 and attempt 7 of trying to download the patch updates. So far received 11.5GB of data and only 79% complete (of which it has been sitting on 79% complete for 4hrs now). An amazing amount of data being received for a patch that is 159MB, and 125MB has been patched!

    How is this so? Makes for great conspiracy theories for hacking info out of my PC and embedding spyware!
    Hoping I'll actually be able to play this game before I go back to work. In the meantime I'll continue to play "Southpark Stick of Truth". Amazing how quick the updates are with Steam! Maybe Arc could ask them how they do it or employ more mice for the treadmill!!!!

    Ooh, what do ya know, it crashed. Now I restart the patch again. Like, wtf is being fed to us in the patch besides the fixes (for the same issues we get every anniversary)???!!! Why is it taking so long??? I have superfast internet cable, my PC is more than a match for this game with next gen tech. This shouldn't be an issue. Considering the issue with the download.......

    Could we please have an alternative patch update that we can manually download as a zip file or something? Still got me stumped why it other gaming sites don't have the same issues with patching! :#

    I am another with the same issue, At first the patch problem came up, actually got some help from Support but not a definitive answer. Tried a re-install, that got same patching problem now finally at 5149Kb to go but it reaches 898kb/5149kb and gets stuck there every time. Now its Agents of yesterday and I'm missing out, so looked forward to it too. Suppose reading past posts here that it is no surprise support has gone silent, why? maybe it needs real work to fix it. Trying now again with On Demand patching off. Instead of the 5149Kb it wanted its gone to 4751Mb. Crossed fingers and hoping really hard :)

    I can't finish the patch either. This problem actually turned up last week. I've tried every day since last Thursday and can't download the patch. I sort of figured it was server instability from everyone being logged on at once, then I thought that this week's patch would fix the issue. It hasn't. I just tried turning off on-demand patching. It took longer, but still crashed.

    (I hope I can atleast get this fixed before the summer event ends, because I'm sitting one run short of the ship.)

    Dont bother with On-Demand patching..Many friends have ditched it and so have I..Its the cardinal sin of this game which has a long list of server issues..Its better to patch completely before getting in and experience only the normal server issues..

    Now that you mention On Demand patching..My curious question arises..COULD ALL OUR SERVER ISSUES BE SOMEWHAT RELATED TO A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE PLAYING STO WITH ON DEMAND PATCHING GOING ON? If the answer is yes then please ditch it like swtor and let everyone patch completely before getting in..That in a way may solve the long list of server issues...

    Yep, doing this to me... AGAIN. The current patch is at 21.6MB/385MB Received 1614MB - 5%

    I think i'm just going to have to let STO go. No other game does this to me, doesn't matter what I do with the launcher, it fails out like this.

    I let it go overnight once, it downloaded close to a Terabyte but still STO hadn't patched, and yet it had drained so much data I got a call from my ISP.

    Cryptic, what is different about your patching? hell even Star Citizen works better and its not even Beta yet.

    hehe, someone told me its possible STO has a miner in its launcher, though I doubt it I wouldn't be surprised :D

    Bumping up this thread. I'm getting this problem as the folks above, and it seems that till now, there is no solution for it.
    Patching progress as displayed :
    Patched 1280KB / 1487KB
    Received 58.1MB - 86%
    The "Received" size can go up to a few Gbs if I leave it for a few hours but "Patched" still doesn't move an inch, keep it on taps using Resource Montitor as I watched it work.

    Upon reaching through the net, found someone that advised to use "Crtl-X" during the patching to see what's wrong. It seems to be stucked on 2 files, textures assuming from their names and paths.

    This is what I've found out from pcl.log :

    I've also experimented with removing texture.hogg, texture2.hogg and texture3.hogg indivdually to single it out. The patch eventually still stuck at that size.
    Also tried disabling Anti-Virus Shields, added Port Forwarding and running those programs as Admins, doesn't work. Tried Force Verify too, nothing (learnt the hard way the Crtl-X during Force Verify will freeze the launcher).

    I've also removed "pigg" folder and ".patch" folder entirely to force it to re-download the game for... I think 4 times now. Each time the size of those .hogg files looks different from the last. Been trying this since on the 8th of Oct 2016.

    Further studying on the pcl.log file, there are more files previously affected. Pasting them here :

    Contacted support, no word from them as of yet, except for a few generic responses/troubleshooting which bascially doesn't solve the issue. Unfortunately I am getting impatient and abit on the edge, as I watch others people being able to play as they stream in Twitch.

    And looking at this forum, there doesn't seems to be an offical word for the solution either. If anyone manages to provide a solid solution for this issue, I will be mighty grateful.
