Second Wave optionals STILL buggy after FOUR YEARS?!

Ticket 4,077,694

I did a search on "Second Wave" on the forums and found MULTIPLE threads on this mission where it apparently had MULTIPLE problems since at least 2012.

I found a bug with the Capt Shon DOFF optional where if you can't do a job, and click Back on the DOFF window, you lose your chance to complete. If you click Continue on Capt Shon's window, you lose your chance to complete. He doesn't repeat it for you either. If you drop the entire mission, starting ALL OVER AGAIN, you will NOT have the ability to click, Begin Assignment.

Another bug I found is with the Ambassador Surah holosuite reservation search. The named NPC bar patron Zar can get bugged with TWO dialogues interactions. One should be going to a different bar patron but she can have both, but the 2/3 doesn't update (I even checked the second and third floors for patrons).

I just wasted what...an hour of my personal time to do this. I had ran all over the place

If you mean the mission will not start, did you go to ds9 as directed and click the appropriate prompt in space or on ground?

    Same for me.

Previous misson completion said to return to ds9 - but there's no prompt to start the misson. The misson shows in the journal but cannot activate or set as primary.

i think ive got this issue aswell

as soon as i finished the mission after killing laas at the new link, and placing the beacon in space, i leveled up and didnt get any text about going to ds9 at all. i just got the lvl40, promotion, 'come get your new shiny ship' text instead.

i went straight to earth and got my new ship.

now nothing works. im on ds9 because i guessed i had to go there, and theres no prompts and no npcs say anything quest related. trying to select the story mission directly gives the 'time is short' reply from some achebe npc.

    this sucks.

For the 2 people above me who can't start the mission, it's a Level 42 mission, if you are below, which at least dcounter69 is, you are going to have to grind to L42. By the time I got there with my first xbox one charater, I was half way through 41 and just re-run a couple of missions a was fine.

And as for bugs on the mission itelf, on Surah side mission diplomatic distractions on the Xbox one, Shon never gives the dialogue to take the self sealing stem bolts thus making it imposible to convice the Deferi delicate to join at the end of the mission!

i wish the game told you this

because unlike any other mmo ive played there arent any encounters or fighting outside of missions, that ive seen or ever been told about.

does rerunning the previous mission give the highest exp?
whats a good exp giving, and short, episode?
is there any other way to get exp other than redoing a previous episode?

well, it does tell you, but only when you look at the mission in the episode list.

There are deep space encounters in sector space, the sector patrols in certain sectors, the only one I remember off hand right now is celes sector, but xp for those seems glitchy at the moment, there are the dailies, like dilithium mining and tour the galaxy that give some small amounts of xp.

Re-running missions does seem to give less xp, as so far, doing everything on normal and doing the dailies I have pretty much leveled up after each mission, but it took me replaying both the new link and the factory to get me from half way through L41 to L42, but did give me a chance to pick up some of the other reward choices while doing so.

So if you ask me, getting 2/3's of the way to max level before having to do any sort of grinding it a huge improvement over other MMO's if you ask me! But yes, there doesn't seem to be much else to do off the main story path. at least as the moment. I know back when I first played in beta and just after there was deep space sector patrols that gave endless random encounters you could grind, but that was take out a long time ago. And last time I played on PC there was the featured episode which seemed to be open to all levels as far as I could tell, but I only did that once as it seemed to expect me to have played other content that I hadn't yet played, but it was still an option.

I don't know how people aren't well above the level of areas/story missions when they get to them. This character was in the 50s at least. Every time I did Nimbus, my character has been far above the listed level for it.

I don't know if this episode mission is level gated or not, as there is documented confusion on how to start this. I have seen threads with posts about this.

I suggest you drop it, pick it up again, and carefully read the description as well as take note on the on-screen interaction buttons that appear when in sector space at ds9, in the ds9 space zone, and while on ds9.
