So how does redeeming the free ship work? (PS4) Andorian Light Escort

So as the title says, is it a one time use where only one of my characters ever gets it? Or is it like the system in Neverwinter where it just goes to a guy at a kiosk and you redeem it there for each new character?

Also can you only redeem it on certain factions or can you use it regardless of such?

Lastly where would I go to equip it as my primary ship and would I have to lose my current one forever to use it?

P.S. If there is something else you think I may not know about this process, please assume I don't and tell me anyways.

At the very least, I can answer that
    • The Andorian Light Escort is a Federation unlock only; that means that it will be usable by Fed and FedRom characters, while you receive no early bird bonus for KDF and KDFRom characters. The ship itself should be available on all characters, so long as they are of the approptiate faction.
    • Once you own a ship, you get to keep it (as long as you don't dismiss it). A tip for those new to STO is that the PC version has an Admiralty System minigame where you get "ship cards" to send on assignments to gain resources; you should try to keep ships around as long as you have ship slots to store them in, since eventually this *should* be coming to STOPS4 and STOXBONE.

Wait, when do you choose a secondary faction? And does this happen early enough for this ship to still be useful outside of cosmetic terms? Assuming you went Rom and sided with Fed. Or is it straight Fed only?

The game was initially designed with two factions, and rather than rebuilding every system to accomodate three full factions they chose to allow Romulan faction characters to choose an Ally; this doesn't really happen early enough to matter where the ship is concerned... until the Admiralty System becomes available. Once that is available, you can make use of Tier 1-4 ships to gain resources, etc.

You should claim the ship now while it's still free though, that ends soon.

How do I actually claim it though? I've been to the ship selector guy and only have my default starter ship. Well..I bought the Exeter class this morning for giggles

In addition..I'm told that we get a new ship every ten levels? Saw that in chat anyway. But again..where to go? I went to promotions area and ship selected but it's not terribly obvious.

This game does some things better than neverwinter, like mission assignments bit lots of things aren't nearly as intuitive

Thanks for your help, apparently you can claim it on multiple characters, once through promotions and at least one other time for free on the C-store. I didn't really have time to make a third character and check so I can only guess if it is now a permanent addition to my c-store.

I went to the promotions option in one of the lower subsections of the menu. (I don't remember if it was under options or store though) It also happens to be where you claim your PS+ Kahn uniform so you can actually use it, and a linked-account khan uniform. After redeeming it, it will appear as an Item you must select in you inventory. For additional characters to get it apparently its in the ship requisitions dealers' inventory or c-store (sorry again can't remember which, last night was long.) in teir 1.

You can only redeem it on a character that either is a romulan who has sided with the feds early in the story, or as an actual federation member.

I haven't been able to test it any beyond that however.

Open your menu (pause/start), then go to the cstore. In categories on the left side of the screen, the bottom tab is something like "offers/rewards". In that tab you'll find the escort and khan uniform available for free.
