T6 ships and fleets - a few questions

Hey all

I'm considering, again, my options for a T6 ship. Currently I have the T5 Sovereign you get given a token for at level 40 and I'm bored with it, but obviously none of my lower tier ships would be particularly viable, certainly not my favourite the Constitution Cruiser.

I like the look of ships that have been used in the TV series/films, primarily ones used as the big E.

What are my options with that in mind, apart from getting a JJPrise which I'm not too keen on (at either 390+ million EC on the exchange or gambling via lock boxes)?

I've skimmed through the C-store and I don't really like the look of most of the ships on offer, apart from maybe the Advanced Heavy Cruiser [T6], which can made to look like the Enterprise B model (the lower tier variant being the Excelsior model lookalike), but I find that a bit odd considering Enterprise B is older than the Sovereign class Enterprise E!?! I would take the Enterprise F (Odyssey class) but that's a fleet ship, and that raises another question...

...Can I start a fleet on my own with only me in it - is it even possible to do solo fleet projects (not that I even know what you can do wrt fleets)?

Last question on this subject - I see players with ships that don't appear to be in the C-Store. There's quite a lot of players with rather exotic looking ships, are they from lock boxes or can you craft unique ships when in a fleet?

TIA

first answer yes you can be in your own fleet by yourself but to start the fleet you need 5 people.
second answer you are probably seeing event ships, they appear in the event store in the reputation.
question do you like fast paced combat or are you looking to survive the long run?

It is possible to solo a fleet (you only need a full team to create it), but it gets expensive/grindy after awhile. You also have the issue that it takes awhile to unlock the different shipyard tiers to access all the ships. If you have a certain fleet ship in mind, there are completed fleets out there with plenty of provisions to spare, that will let you join, grab a ship, and go. All you need to bring are the fleet ship provisions and the fleet credits needed to buy it.

Keep in mind, while T6 fleet ships have slightly better stats than their c-store variants, they lack the T6 starship trait unlock.

Exotic ships are probably from lockboxes or the Lobi store.

Addressing the list of ships you mentioned specifically, the Odyssey lines (both T5 and T6 sets) are available in the C-Store at Fleet-equivalent quality (T5-10/T5-U11 and T6-11 respectively). The 3-Pack (per faction)/9-Pack (3x 3-Packs) ships are all built that way, though you can always do a quick console count to confirm. This can make them a better value if you find a ship that looks and performs the way you want it to; you get both a full T6-11 ship and Starship Trait access in a single purchase rather than needing to get both the C-Store ship and Fleet Ship Module.

The Fleet Odyssey you were looking at was originally the Anniversary Event version, and is only T5-9. If you want a Fleet Enterprise of some sort at the highest available quality, you're pretty much limited to the Galaxy or Gal-X, though one of the Flagship Star Cruisers has a design reminiscent of the Galaxy.

Just be sure to focus on acquiring the T6 versions over the T5. T5 versions have no Starship Trait/less seating/no Spec seating... while still costing a Ship Upgrade Token to gain Mastery/hull scaling in addition to the T5 purchase price. T6 ships do not require a Ship Upgrade Token, and come with potentially useful Starship Traits.

Federation C-Store ships available at Fleet-equivalent quality (T6-11):
    • Pilot Escorts
      • (the Pilot Maneuvers these come with are really fun, and can be used for positioning or defense)
    • Flagship Star Cruisers
      • (T6 Odyssey line)
      • (if you prefer a rounder saucer, the Operations Star Cruiser [T6] variant has styling similar to the Galaxy, though it is also the Engineering-focused variant of an already Engineering-focused ship type)
    • Command Battlecruisers
      • (the Presidio specifically is the source of All Hands On Deck, which allows Tactical and Command BOff abilities to trigger cooldown reduction for your Science BOff and Captain abilities)
    • 31c. Temporal Ships
      • (the Ouroboros Temporal Raider specifically is the source of Regroup, which allows your Attack Pattern BOff abilities to reduce the recharge time on Engineering and Temporal BOff abilities)
      • (these are flagged as "faction agnostic", allowing them to be used on any character on your account; it's a great value if you play cross-faction)

I like being able to do a lot of damage quickly, and being able to survive a mission without blowing up. If that makes any sense. I tend to use my Sovereign as a broadside attacker, because it's too slow to do anything else, meanwhile I actually have a little more fun with my KDF T5 BoP doing head on hit and runs, but I generally don't play in anything but the Empire Defense type of solo missions with that.

I guess basically it boils down to "I would like a TV/Film canon ship" and "I want one of those one's I see in PvE blowing stuff up in milliseconds".

You can buy the T6 Odyssey apart from any fleet, some cstore ships like mentioned above are "fleet quality" but you dont need to be in a fleet to buy amd fly them.

Just thought i would clear that up in case of misconception.

    You might consider:
These are Federation Escorts, which have less versatile seating than your BoP but tend to be much more durable and remain offensively focused. Each of these designs has at least one on-screen canon skin available. All have separate C-Store T6-10 and Fleet T6-11 versions, with a Fleet Ship Module discount for first owning the C-Store variant and then buying the Fleet.

    There are also:
These are variations of Federation Cruisers, and will fly more like your broadsiding Sovereign. I placed them in general order of combat focus, though for any to have 4 Tac consoles you'll need to buy the Fleet variant. All have separate C-Store T6-10 and Fleet T6-11 versions, with a Fleet Ship Module discount for first owning the C-Store variant and then buying the Fleet.

    Finally, there are:
These are all, of course, Science Vessels. This would be a bigger departure from your current gameplay styles, as well as from an aesthetic standpoint (especially where the latter two designs are concerned). You can blow up NPC's very well using the power of SCIENCE!, but it's going to take some additional research on how to do that. All have separate C-Store T6-10 and Fleet T6-11 versions, with a Fleet Ship Module discount for first owning the C-Store variant and then buying the Fleet.

    OK thanks.

I will probably settle for the Advanced Heavy Cruiser (T6), use the Excelsior Class skin, and call it Yorktown B, as that's the only Enterprise clone I don't have, even if it is odd using an outdated looking ship with an outdated registry, but then I'd be doing that if there was a T6 TMP-era Constitution.

Am I right in reading what you guys have said that I don't need to be in a fleet to buy fleet ships from ship requisition (i.e. the officer you go to in ESD for example) - I just need the fleet marks and the other required items?

Also, dumb idea, but wrt to starting a fleet, could I sign up as 4 other people (basically create myself 4 new accounts) and have those accounts join a fleet with me?

You do need to be in a fleet to buy fleet ships (you can leave the fleet as soon as you get it).

IF you had 4 additional accounts and your computer could handle running 5 instances of STO at the same time, it theoretically is possible to form your own fleet. I wouldn't recommend it though.
