Is this true for all the battlezones that legitimately allow you to have your boffs? Because there are several ground zones that do.

Yeah it's like a tiny amount. Say you kill 5 Borg a minute so 5 dilithium. Or 300 per hour. Wow! Like one admiralty mission

You call that A LOT? Oh boy you can get 100X doing the old fashion way and just play the real admiralty on alternates.

Yeah. You do realize spacebaronline (which I keep reading as 'spacebarbieonline', no offense) was just being sarcastic, right?!

It's a pretty lackluster exploit anyway. You'd make more dilithium doing literally anything else.

Nothing else you can be completely AFK for, letting a botting program do all the work for you.

Except plenty of other places with respawning enemies and boffs enabled without glitching.

    Like, say, Nimbus.

So, a really lackluster exploit. Be easier just do it legitimately somewhere else.

Yes I was being sarcastic. Frankly the largest dilithium exploit in the game has been closed. That was the contraband turn in. Someone could do 8k per day x 40+ toons, or 320,000 refined dilithium per day per account. Now that is what I think was am exploit of the game. Not that I would bother with this defra thing, really small reward. Better to spend 1 min doing CCA every 30 min.

I still think they should have put in a per-account cap rather than nerf the turn-in countdown. It hurts a lot of regular players as much or more than the farmers and the price of zen hasn't budged from 400.
The Zen price was 490 before the contraband nerf.

I noticed something similar on Nimbus III during the delta recruit event when I went there with my recruit to do the story arc.

Delta recruits, and temporal recruits, got a buff that lasts until the event ends. This buff gives them dilithium for each enemy killed in space and ground combat.

Basically they're afk/bot farmers. I didn't bother to see if the ones on Nimbus had the recruit icon above their characters next to their names. And quite frankly I didn't even bother to report the suspicious activity because I figured nothing would happen.

    *shrugs*

Actually it was already starting to come down before the nerf even hit the test server. When the patch went up on Tribble, the dil exchange dropped fast to about 350. But within a few hours it went right back up to around 425 and slowly went down a little, then back up because of the key/services sale we just had in the c-store.

It's obvious at this point that the turn in contraband change had little impact, if any, on the dil exchange. If the nerf was due to heavy dil farmers, they may have had a backup plan and quickly moved to farm dil another way.

I wouldn't say the turn in contraband assignment was an exploit in itself. It was working as intended for years.

The problem was some people were taking advantage of the system. I've speculated the reason for the change may have been due to some people using third-party (bot) programs to automate logging into their characters and turning in contraband every 4 hours. But that's probably just tinfoil hat theory.

Wasn't it just a while ago they changed a few things so that less missions auto complete while in camp as the crowds of people waiting for their freebies were getting rather large? Now only one mission does this if others are actually finishing it and you still see a couple people. Having a group of tac drones follow you into camp can help discourage those that are afk...

Looking at the possible mission involved with the OP's photo I doubt they're getting much of anything waiting for things to spawn. Could be wrong.

Getting your away team onto Defera isn't an exploit. Excellent way to test an away team's setup versus some tac drones.

I really wish they could do a few minor bug fixes on the "hard" missions as they're great team based ways to get some rewards and learn ground with community based channels for both factions to find groups. Not sure if the knowledge to do so still exists.

Those crazy kids trying to be dilithium farmers. They would never have hurt nobody if it weren't for those darnfangled exclusive outfits.

This is just an annoying bug, I've logged back in to Deferra a couple of times and had my boffs spawn with me. There's no way to get rid of them either unless you drop what you are doing and return to your ship.

C-Kassy, yeah, SIK are now junk, since they changed scroll 6 > 7, changed during elemential war/Gaerlan saga many years ago. i gave up trying to get unique rares beyond tier 3. a couple of years ago and played AC2 and then they announced no new patches. so many players left.
it is impossible to get tier 7 rares.
that why some went for bot scripting.

At what amount of Dil and XP gain are we looking here exactly?

I mean we get so much Dil out of pve (ntte or drse e.g.) that I though such ways are more trouble than they are worth. Not to mention we have red alerts for XP.

Most of the Boffs they were using are the ones you get when you start a 25c character, 23c characters can't get them, so they aren't farming dil per kill as an AoY character, so they were either after the 1k borg accolade and passive, or there is some other exploit going on.

As for getting your Boffs to appear there with you, easy, head to the Power plant, go down to lvl 3 and into the first chamber, hit Esc and head to the character select screen, choose the character you were just playing and when you appear back in the Power plant your Boffs will be there too. You do have to make sure that the last time you used your Boffs that it was with all four to get them all to appear, if you last used them on the Kobali ground map then only two will appear.

Indeed. Reminds me of my highschool days, like when we had to read many books in German or French. And many students would go out of their way to try and find Dutch translation for them; whereas I figured I might as well just read them in their original tongue, and be done with it. :)

Seriously, the ethical objections to using exploits aside, I can't fathom flying all the way out to Defera, and waste a few hours trying to pop a spurious exploit, with all the risks involved, for a bit of Dilithium I can legitimately make elsewhere, twice as fast. LOL.

Just for kicks I tried it. With a full aoy set up. At that spot I got no dilithium or xp for kills. Inside the power plant I got about 6 dilithium per min = 320 per hour. Totally not worth it. If you put you toons with boffs in a few place on nimbus where you are legitimately allowed to have them, you can get at least 3x that. So I call this defra thing void. Just play CCA for 1 min and get like 720 or something. Save your computer power.

Well at least it gets people visiting. Boffs don't care about the bugs.

If they ever do dump it as people suggest, I just hope they retcon the Deferi through the game as Ferengi or Tzenketi. It would make the Breen arc far more interesting to be going to Ferenginar etc.

Used to be a fun run doing the hards. Boy was it a pain to get a 5 man KDF group going.
  • peterconnorfirstpeterconnorfirst Member Posts: 6,225 Arc User
Yea I also did Defera a lot in order o get fleet marks 2 years ago.

Yesterday I went there just to get the Experimental Anti Borg Device from Jula. I have it on all toons and my AoY is no exception now.

Is this like that math trick in Diablo 2 where most runes you can take three of them and convert to a higher rune? 3 a = 1 b, 3b = 1c..... etc.... until you and up with 1244122554(approximately) a = 1 z

Granted you could sometimes find the mid tier items but only when lucky.

Easy glitch, and not better for botters, and RMT farmers which sadly is a thing even in this game.

/killme command gives you option to summon missing or stuck boffs.

RMT farmer isn't a new term, it is Real Money Trader, the term has been around for at least 14 years.

Goldsellers, were commonly refered to as RMT's in FF11 at that time.

This is what happens when shades of grey terms are flavored for one game or another, vocabulary at it's best.

Oh what a sissy. Why even complain about this. I don't do it to exploit, I bring my Boffs to Defera to try new builds and TRIBBLE around, trying to milk whatever fun I can still find out of this game. The people leaving their Boffs around aren't worth your attention, so what are you whining about? This is no more of an exploit than having your Boffs with you on Nimbus. The devs are never going to re-work Defera, and if they remove the ability to bring your Boffs down with you, the DIZ will be completely worthless (aside from Defera channels)
