I looked up the probes and found this as well. I tested that this morning and it worked. Type /target temporal probe. It will pop up if your near it like 80km away.

I'm going to have to do Facility 4028 and see if this pops it up. Did it twice and I cannot find the probe.

Ack. I'm nearly at Facility 4028 myself. Darn thing is probably hidden in an unopened prisoner's cell somewhere!

I found it in the corner of the hallway where the founder's cell is.

That's where I found it. Guess third time is the charm.
Haha that mission took me a three attempts too. The first two times, it spawned behind a forcefield where I couldn't get to it. I saw in the patch notes that they've fixed that though. Can't recall if those patch notes were for Tribble or Holodeck.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.

The temporal probe spawning in mission is utterly disatrous in its design.
Please hit whoever came up with the idea with something hard in the head and kick him out of a window (it is ok if it is a window on first floor ).
Whatever did you people think by not having scanner being able to locate them and not even having them in specific places always that are easily accessable during mission. Delta recruitment was fun with the iconian artifacts and so on, but this....
Ok, first 10 levels was fun, but then it was just grind trying to find hidden probes that took the fun out of the missions when they did not end up in a place that one would see while doing the mission.
When the temporal probe ends up somewhere way of it is not even slightly interesting to go look for it. I among other log on to play Star Trek, not hide and seek (I do understand that some might find hide and seek funny... but in that case please grow up). (Really annoyed now after killing of most Klingons on Doomsday weapon map, while looking for that bloody probe that did not end up in any of the normal places suggested. And in the end giving up after half an hour systemetaically trying to find the bloody thing.)
A test server is supposed to be used to properly test patches before patching anything....

I'm sure I resorted to using the scanner in one episode and IIRC it did work for me... the only thing was that it was quite low on the list of priorities with targets... so I had to go through all other anomalies and interactive items first. Maybe they just forgot to prioritise it when adding it, and it reverted to default "order item was added".
I had a similar issue on The New Link - the probe showed a short cutscene and I did not get credit for it.
When I replayed the mission, I noticed that there were actually two options once I accessed the probe - one to play the movie and one to download and then delete the data (or something similar). I selected the second one and got credit as usual. I'm betting that the dialog was meant to stay open and that if I'd interacted again on my first run through it would have given me credit.

This is really helpful.

Edit - It worked. Thanks.

Ah I see... either way, I still think it got me to the probe eventually.
Nope, probes do not show up on scans. There must have been a console or resource node or loot crate nearby.
Here's the list of known locations again for anyone who missed it before:
