What with these Nova and Vesta threads, I was feeling a bit glum that the superior design, the Luna, was left out. So I made my own thread, with blackjack and hookers.
The Luna has always been one of my favorite designs. I'd like to see a much more flexible boff layout. I'd take a t6 Luna over a t6 Nebula or Nova anyday.

Intel seating would be nice.
BlackJack AND hookers?
Seriously, I've always liked the Luna design, but never really used it because of the BOFF seating didn't match my needs at the time. Now, it's obsolete and I've never had the pleasure of captaining one.
Don't worry, we'll see a new array of Tier 7 ships soon- and you'll be able to get yours for the low, low price of $50 each. 3-packs for $150! I'm sure the Luna, Nova, Vesta and others will be available for those prices.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

This. Back when I first started, I didn't really know what to do in sci vessels, so I stuck to cruisers and escorts. Nowadays I can do reasonably well in any ship. I don't really want to spend the dough to grab a t5-U fleet reconnaissance science vessel. If I'm gonna spend high amounts then I want to spend it on something worthwhile. I instead grabbed a cheap mirror deep space science vessel off the exchange for my AoY char to use later. I won't hold my breath for a t6 Luna, but I'll gladly grab one if it's made.
The T5 Recon Sci can hang with the big boys, make no mistake. It is the fightiest Sci Ship in game.
An extra Ens tac station means you can spam torps or FAW, it's easy to achieve ridiculous Aux Power levels, and your primary damage potential comes from the seven Sci BOff powers available on demand. Add to this the usual Sci bonuses like shields and sensors, and you have a ship that can compete at any level in the game.

I'm not even talking about the Fleet version yet!
Any t5 ship can compete at endgame. Heck, even t4. The people who really put in the work are the people cleaning up in anything lower than a t3 ship. When I say "worthwile", I'm not trying to trash on the ship. I'm saying that I want more flexibility for my money's worth. Using different powers in universal seatings and playing around with different specialization boff powers is part of the fun in flying t6 ships, thus making it feel like like my money was well spent. The main part of the fun for me personally is the shiny new look. Whether it's a revamp of an old outdated model or an entirely brand new model that comes with the purchase of a t6 variant, those are my primary selling points of any ship. Pure looks and aesthetics, aka space barbie, is my endgame.
Since there is no t6 Luna and a mirror version looks exactly the same as the standard/fleet one (with the exception of exclusive materials), then why would I want to spend 80k dil or 4 fsm's (and a possible pricey starship upgrade) for a standard one when I can settle for a mirror version for cheap? Sure I'm getting a bunch of neat bonuses, but like I said, space barbie is my endgame.
If they make a retrofit with a decent looking deflector section, I wouldn't be opposed to to this. But I remember that I was more succesful in making a Deep Space Science Vessel look good to me then a Recon Science Vessel. (Which was all many years ago.)

Superior design?
All joking aside, does the Luna class have the same issue as the Vesta class? Namely would Sean Tourangeau need to be consulted regarding re-use of the design as a T6 ship?
Since it was part of the original STO release, I suspect that there might be a different deal involved there then with the Vesta. Maybe CBS fully owns the rights to the ship?

Obviously I'm not privy to this info but I would assume that, at best, the rights are a murky issue.
Man, Starfleet really needs some more T6 Science Ship variety!
Quoted for truth. ... Also for T6 Novas, Wells, Vestas, Oberth, Nebula, Olympic, D'Kyr, Trident, and Atrox.
Honestly without T6 verients of these fine vessels its a wonder that starfleet ever gets any science done at all... Wait it dosnt... its all pew pews isnt it?
Ok so first we need a T6 Nebula, then we need to DO SCIENCE.

That seems like something people might want to discuss, you should open a thread about it.

Would love to fly a Luna again.
