Is that what we are going to be looking at? Cause it sure seems like it.
I think I would have preferred the content spread out over time with longer missions than this so called expansion with a few short missions grouped together like it was a filler pack.
(I'm not saying it's been 2 months silly. I'm saying it's very unlikely we'll see any new content this month.)
In fairness, repeating practically everything in game in order to get "exclusive" rewards on your TOS toon probably qualifies as content to someone.
That will take a while even for the most dedicated of players since a lot of it is time-gated.
Also there were multiple story missions released at the same time. The summer event was still going on. There was at least one complaint thread started saying that there was TOO MUCH content going on. Like I said in another thread, the devs just can't win.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
This really was not an expansion. Like the OP stated, was basically a few new missions and creating another Starfleet captain. I have already leveled mine to 60, just about maxed the reputations out and completed all the story arc's. In the end, I added another Starfleet character. We always get new ships, so that addition to the game is nothing new. Would like to see an entire new faction. Like the Romulan's, maybe something like a Cardassian faction and new story to go with it.

There was a lot going on at that time it's true. The Featured Episode week was old content, which admittedly had been redone in parts both over the years and for AoY, but it wasn't really "new" in that sense, the major difference was the reward that you got for completing it.
AoY itself has a handful of missions set in the 23rd Century (admittedly done quite well) and a handful more for all characters, set in the future alongside the PvE queue missions. The vast majority of the AoY content is repeating the existing missions with the Temporal Probe Mini game tacked on. Again the major rewards are for completing it on a Temporal Agent rather than new content in and of itself.
It wasn't really too much content, unless you'd been away for a long period or something, Risa had been completed for many long before.

100% true but like this thread and my comment proves, the devs could literally do anything and someone that doesn't know what they're talking about will complain.

I remember a time when we went over a year with no new content at all, didn't even have an Anniversary Event back then, just a mission you played once that never came back.
You know what kept me going back then? Star clusters. Laugh if you want to. I won't be offended.
I would have liked to see AoY make a permanent 23c century sector space with a few open ended, star cluster like missions, a social map and the few episodes. A 23c "pocketverse" for your AoY characters to hang out in and a 23c fleet asset to link your characters together via a time portal. The 23c fleet thing could also provide 23c skills and such.
Unfortunately, the 23c experience dries up very quickly and is even meant to be dropped entirely (the agent telling you to blend in and drop everything anachronistic). Yet, the characters use 23c animations on ships and personnel all throughout. The whole thing was not thought out well and falls short.
But (!) it was a lot of novelty and new content, in addition to the episodes. You have to differntiate between new content and new content you actually want to play, because a general lack of content is at this point in my opinion not a valid complaint.

Agents of Yesterday is not done until the next Season comes out. The Miner Instabilities queue is part of Agents of Yesterday even if it came out a few weeks after Agents of Yesterday launched and there will be more content coming. Using the term Season implies that there is more content coming on a somewhat regular basis instead of a patch once every 3 months.

It was PvP for me.

Hey what azrael said i forgot about that test flight mission. And yea hehe. Star clusters. Thats how we got dil back in the day plus the kdf troll tour
For new content it's not much. Since I already did all the new missions. So now I'm back to my old routine of working on my other mains and alts. My AOY did her round of new missions with the first 10 levels, now she is back to the old content. In a way this was small in size on new stuff. This is the con part.
Good part, I got a new character to play with. Which before I really wasn't planning on working with. But now I'm loving the AOY, and leveling it on up. And with my Fed main done with the new story. I can get back on working on my other mains and alts to get them caught up. Which I will be happy soon as I get my alts finished on ship gear upgrades. Then I can finally get them off Dil farming, and onto the missions.

Overall I feel that the game has enough content and players to make the game a worthwhile experience. Keep in mind they now have a new executive producer/director who intends on making the game better than it has been in previous years. This includes new content, fixing bugs, releasing more ships in events for free (instead of paying Zen for everything), and more.
I believe that the game is doing very well and I, for one, am not getting bored of the content or gameplay. Some bugs are quite comical...others, not so much, but the game is six years old and I am aware of the terminology of spaghetti code...fix one thing and break a few others. However, it would appear they are getting better with the recoding of the game while redeveloping it for the consoles. Keep in mind that since the game is heading to the consoles, we both are going to benefit from this. New graphics, lighting, possibly a new UI interface, as well as a possible integration of true controller support. It is a lot to take in.
People will complain to complain. Some people need to understand that Star Trek is not just missions. You have the storyline missions, Duty Officer missions, Admiralty Missions, R&D, the random patrol missions, Red Alerts, Romulan Epohs (tedious, but could be fun), STFs, and weekend/seasonal events.
There is tons of content if you look for it. This the same argument you here in other MMOs. Tera, Rift, World of Warcraft, etc., all experience the same complaints when there is a lull, or break in content. Usually due to the developer making more content that falls inline with the producer/players requests.
So if you want longer and better content, the goal should be to request longer and more engaging content. However, if you did not provide feedback, or opinions to the developer/producer...in theory you don't have a right to complain about it. For example, if you don't vote on something, you don't technically have the right to complain about the outcome, etc.
Keep in mind, that is just my opinion out of the numerous players you play and enjoy Star Trek Online.
I, myself, and a few of my RL friends, enjoy playing the game. However, we are each different. One of my friends goes gaga over how awesome their Galaxy Dreadnought is with tanking and DPS. My other friend is all about the experience, the storyline, and the overall lore of Star Trek. I am interested in the whole experience. Whether flying through sector space completing the "Tour the Galaxy" mission, or replaying some older content on a harder difficulty to earn some experience, dilithium, or some interesting gear to attach to my existing ship, etc. Needless to say, I am enjoying the game. To each their own though. Your mileage may vary.
If they had spread out the content over more time, you would have been playing the same episode mulitple times for 3 or 4 weeks. Then we would have had content for 3 or 4 months, but would that have been more interesting?
Releasing them all at once was the better option.
And if the latest blog is any indication, more episodes are coming.
And I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a lot more stuff for the 50th anniversary at this Las Vegas thing.
We already know there will be a very special guest providing voice overs for whoever wins a certain contest so that might mean we also get new actors in the game. Maybe even one of the captains or someone from the latest movie. I'm almost certain that we will see a lot of new stuff from that anyway, regardless of whether or not there will be voice overs from those involved in those movies.
Hmmm.... Agents of Yesterday officially launched on July 6th. Today is August 3rd... Yep... the "expansion" has definitely been out for two months.
The 6 tutorial missions in the 23rd century were definitely well done. And according to Al Rivera tutorial missions are pretty expensive to create because they have to be "perfect" in order to introduce game concepts and mechanics to new players. The AoY tutorial missions are arguably the best out of the "four" factions when it comes to polish and quality which probably means it cost more to create than the others... especially since the devs needed to create new effects to give the illusion that the game was taking place in the 23rd century. Meaning the effects are reminiscent to the ones in the TOS TV shows compared to what effects the game already had.
It would have been nice to do more things in the 23rd century before doing the Battle of Caleb IV mission which propels the players into the 25th century. The 23rd century sector map was sterile meaning there was nothing really to do. A few patrols would have been nice.
Anywaste... the other content related to the AoY "Expansion" are:
- Yesterday's War story arc which includes the following 3 missions:
- - The Core of the Matter
- - Vorgon Conclusion
- - Terminal Expanse
- Two more missions in Future Proof which I suppose brings that story arc to an end. I have not played the missions yet.
- - Temporal Reckoning
- - Ragnarok (Featuring Thor, Planet Hulk and rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe... well not really...)
- Three end game queue missions for the reputation system.
- - Days of Doom
- - Mining Instabilities
- - The Battle of Procyon V
Overall, the AoY "Expansion" added 11 main story missions spread throughout the previous existing story missions. Too few to be considered an "Expansion" in my opinion, but fine for a "half season" continuation. But at least the missions are of pretty high quality though I reserve my opinion on the Temporal Reckoning and Ragnarok since I have not played them yet. I definitely prefer quality over quantity (Delta Rising anyone...?). While the time spent in the 23rd century is limited and this is obviously an "Expansion" geared towards the Federation rather than the KDF and Romulan Republic, I think AoY is overall pretty good.
As of "no content" before the release of "AoY"... okay so The Temporal Front was released back in April, but since then there was the Crystalline Entity Event as well as the Risa Summer Event. Sure a new mission released every month would be nice I suppose, but according to Al Rivera it is a hectic schedule to maintain that type of pace with development and testing as well as releasing updated events. I accept that at face value since I have no experience with game development.
I do wish at least one of the Missions that landed with AoY (Temporal Reckoning or Ragnarok) was set up like a Weekly FE with Weekly Account Rewards and unlocking new items each week.
Hopefully, the next time an FE drops they will go back to that format. At least that will make up for the lackluster FE Replay 'Event' that just had with no Daily Account Rewards.
Also, with August being here we could also use a Lobi Store sale.

Rofl, if the game was actually in any trouble there would not be console ports coming up, come on people lose the tinfoil already, it just makes you look stupid.
Also, nobody is charging 50 bucks for a shirt, exvept of course Wal- Mart, K- Mart, etc.
As usual i dont deal in rolling on floors or tinfoil anything, i am as far from stupidity as some people you may know may not be.
"Tinfoil" another cute word like "strawman" which means absolutley nothing whatsoever, and is used by people who are at a lack for a better reference.
You have as much knowledge about the health of the game as you accuse me of.
And as usual you have said absolutley nothing at all.
This isn't nothing new really. And if your unhappy with how it is now, you'll probably be unhappy moving forward so best to play other games and expand your horizons to help reduce your boredom.

Your right, how dare they not patch an actual expansion, why "call" it one then.
Doing so and charging $50 for shirts reeks of "desperation at the bank", to me.
Maybe if they chucked the excuses and actually fixed the game, it'd have a higher "paying" population.
