I just say throw it in the lobi or zen store and call it a day. The only mistake made by Cryptic is not selling it to everyone else already who didn't get lucky. I don't care for the ship in the slightest though (all ferengi ships just look ugly to me, and space barbie is my endgame : P ), but it's questionable use of dev resources to make a new ship just to never sell it at all and only give out by email.
I wouldn't think it took them more than 20 minutes to cook up as basically it's a kit-bash of the D'Kora. To be honest, I'd be drooling if they opened up the kit-bashing more so you could have more versatility in ship design and there for more 'unique' ships!
I thought it was a whole new type of Ferengi ship? Well either way I still say sell it. Free exclusives do not equal more sales/more money no matter how they might look at it otherwise compared to flat out selling it even after giving away free to whoever they want. Making the best of both worlds is the only logical course of action.
now you all ar saying it was a giveaway and cryptic is saying The gold-plated T6 Ferengi ship was sent out to a select group of players as part of an e-mail specific promotion so that makes it a promotion not a give a way
Miny of Cryptic's consumer's are upset we have not Ferengi Nagus
Marauder free package (filled with Enterprise-F Crew themed Swag)
Many of Cryptic's consumers aren't upset we don't have the Ferengi Nagus Maruader free package, but our unwavering loyalty is not as good as someone else's "unwavering loyalty". To a lot of the upset consumers, they are not that interested in the ship, but fighting about the principle of the matter.
If PWE stated that they are giving this away to a few lucky people or instituted it as one of PWE's charge events (transfer $200 to STO and you get the Nagus and a bunch of other rewards), then this ship would have not caused as many problems.

Sigh. Facepalm. Promotion is NOT A CONTEST. Promotion = to promote = marketing.
Marketing sends out special stuff to limited numbers of people that they choose all the time. Game reviewers get special swag that mere customers have no chance of receiving.
There are laws about promotion but they are FTC and state rules against deceptive marketing, not about sharing the goodies with the rest of us.
Edit: disclaimer -- I am not a lawyer. But I do know that wishing does not make it so.
Yup. Trolling. You're posting it here with the intent of inciting anger toward that person individually, and you're using the already troll filled topic of this giveaway to do it.
And it's already been posted once in a different thread. Keep it up and the trolling becomes spam too.
The point was made, prove you're not a troll and move on?

Arguing semantics doesn't matter.
If I walked down the street and knocked on every other door and handed out $20 bills- there's no law that says I HAVE to give them out to the ones I didn't originally.
Seriously, this is a non-issue. Needs to be added to F.C.T.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

no cryptic gave nothing away it was clearly evident it was e-mail specific promotion.
with rules..
propyl for tax right off

That's not how that works. But hey, I can float you the name of a few good lawyers and you can take this to the next level yourself since you are so sure you've been a victim of some legal violation.

unless you are going to accuse her of trolling, you cant say other people are by simply reposting what she posted.

But that point was made in the previous thread where you posted all of that. A thread that was locked. Your point was made. Now you're just spamming, and attempting to incite further outrage. So the facts are pretty clear. You're trolling. Please stop?

Everyone quoting California law is talking about lawyers and the law. That would be the OP. Among a group of others throughout this topic's many threads.
If they think they have a case, they should go seek legal counsel. They won't find that here.

I'd take the "taunting" hashtags more like sarcasm. Sarcasm and Internet don't go too well together so yeah, some people were certainly triggered by this. And by being triggered I mean taking words as justification to publically harass someone through his internet-presence, IE trolling. Which is a di**-move. Especially since there was no "I got the ship and you didn't" - just a "Hey, it's kinda cool I got these giveaways" (the physical ones).

no one is talking a but lawyers but cryptic was in the wrong with saying this was a promotion
No one is talking about lawyers because they know they don't have a legal leg to stand on in this.
While it may be considered "distasteful" in a Court of "Public Opinion" to offer an item to only a randomly select few, it's completely legal and there's nothing that says they have to give it to anyone else... ever.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
one of the biggest problems on the forms is if you so much as say boo thay lock the thread or tell you some one was talking of it on a different thread just so thay can lock it and make it go a way and as far as the so called spam look at what this thread is all a but as long as you ar talking with in what the thread is all abut it is not spam
Sorry. I don't want this thread locked. Nor do I want the discussion to be shut down.
I do however wish we were better than we are appearing to be in terms of trolling someone who posted their swag rewards on twitter. Especially since whatever outrage was felt, was clearly noticeable the last time the links were posted. Do we really want to walk down that path? Are we Star Trek fans or are we the kind of stereotypical internet community that trolls and shames and walks down that path toward other far more hateful behavior?
Whilst I feel personally that anyone wishing to rub said rewards in the faces of others is distasteful, they're fully within their rights to do so, unless they signed some sort of NDA.
The only "debate" there, is whether they'll become ostracized by others in the community because of their behavior. That said, I also fully believe people have opportunity to redeem themselves, it's a matter of choice for them. People will have disagreements, it's bound to happen as long as we have differences, but how people choose to act (behavior) and how it affects others is really the question. This subject is as old as when the first communities formed. (it's also the reason "law and order" was introduced as a concept)
Personally, I don't go around trying to shame others or act like an a**hat, but then again- I'm not ego-driven, nor am I a sheep who follows the crowd. I try to be cautious and mindful of emotions, realizing that not everyone thinks nor feels the same way, even if they could be similar... but that's a personal choice.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.
Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.
I think its best if the ship is just for the top cohort of spenders.
The game is not a charity and has to be profitable or else close down, and since its a free to play game, not everyone is expected to do their part with that.
I myself am not in the top cohort of spenders, so it is natural that I wouldn't get the ship, which is perfectly fair.
so you DONT think your fellow dentals should have gotten it, since they admit they didnt meet your standard?
I just got my email code for the bling bling ferengi ship. If you're in dental, check your mail for the subject line 'special package for our special friends' in case it went to spam.
I guess i just dont understand why pubbies can't figure out that if they take the same money they waste on keys and just give it to cryptic employees, they can have nice this like we do.
The word's already getting around about how Cryptic insiders are going to get a T6 Nagus issued free to every member of Dental. I don't think it's worth worrying about the ones we already have stocked up.
Pff, I got one and all I bought was Lifetime on sale, the Steam pack and maybe like 50 bucks worth of Zen over the years. Even got one for my alt account I haven't spent anything on. And I haven't even been playing the game for ages, just the summer event and back to doing something fun. I guess someone really likes me.

And if it was marketed as such, then it would be fine. Although, I would put it as "Congratulations! You have just spent $5000 on STO. Here is your Gold-plated Ferengi Nagus Marauder." Although, why such a valuable ship is plated with an extremely cheap material is beyond me.

I assume it was not marketed at all, given the fact it was not announced on the website-News; it was all just E-Mail-Magic. So... no false-advertising or anything the like.^^

Binkley, I am very much enjoying my Nagus.
