They might as well just remove the contraband dili reward then, 20hr seems a bit overkill. Or just remove the Security Officers on ESD/Kronos and the Fleet Bases from the game, they deserve a vacation right? =.=
Why would they need to? It's a loss for people that farm contraband extremely, but people that just slowly build up stacks of it over multiple characters can still get their daily extra Dilthium from it.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Not a fan of Tarsi losing Leadership, and Teamwork. Also perplexed as to why Turn Over Contraband was changed. Like I typically only used it once per day anyway, but I just don't see this change making much of a difference aside from upsetting players.
I just wish that contraband could be used to generate dili on fleet projects a bit more directly. The idea I had was that at fleet starbase one could exchange the things for Fleet Dilithium Vouchers, but definetively more often than once every 20hrs. On the same note turn contraband into Reputation Dilithium vouchers could be another thing.
We will be having a maintenance tomorrow 7/21 at 7 AM Pacific for 2.5 hours.
Big smile, never sien a notice on the client!
There'd better be something done to the SNR (server not responding) reports out there all the time, sometimes the game is thereby closed and one can log in again and start with what one was doing.
Wow, really 20hr cd for Contra? Not cool. Just shows you're trying to control the inflow of Ore once again and in the background, control the EC value. Don't give me the speech of "You have plenty of opportunities to go earn it PVEs, Fleet stuff and blah blah blah." Keep your fingers out of it.
I am annoyed about the new CD for the contraband mission as well, I don't think players were abusing it in any measurable way ... but I could be wrong. That said, the main reason the dilithium currency exists in STO is to have a time-based currency to reward players for spending more time in the game.
The devs want to reward you with a chunk of ore for spending 10-30 minutes playing a PVE queue or an episode mission ... and keep rewarding you with more ore for spending hours in the game (which helps STO remain profitable).
The short CD on the contraband turn in doff mission became an easy way to score dilithium from just queuing doff missions for 5 minutes every day (or several times a day in short 5-minute increments).
The new cool down makes sense from a business standpoint ... if you're a Ferengi.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Probably the netcode is so fubar and so deeply embedded that they'd need to re-write the server software from the ground up. Assuming that is, after all this time, that there's anyone left there who even understands it.
Can you folks tell us a bit about the reasoning behind the changes to contraband?
This will make things a bit more difficult for alt-o-holics, but a lot more difficult for the casual players.
Also, what is the reasoning behind the shift in time frame. Why 20 hours and not e.g. 8 hours or 12 hours?
Maybe the decision will be a bit easier to swallow if we learn the reason behind it. Currently we can only speculate and nobody benefits from that.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
-Not cool..20Hr for contraband assignments..
-Has the camera focus issue with regard to the Boff's been fixed?
-Are we getting an option to switch the sound effects from the 23c to the 25c?
-Is there gonna be a resolution to the DC's and SNR's???
-Also do we get a button for the sun shining thru walls or do we get a weapon to take out the suns??
-And finally, why the heck wasnt there an ingame alert that the servers were going down and also nothing on the launcher?? (PS: I assumed no maintenance cause of last weeks double maintenance, I WAS WRONG!!!)
I guess actually fixing the Tangled Web mission where the enemies spawn underneath the Engineering section of the ship that can't be shot but they can shoot the player isn't enough of a priority to bother with still.
Nu'kuhl duty officer healing ability at 90% is extremly poor
now at 20% is just a waste of active slot ...
Booleancanoon , I am glad I didnt buy it LOL now it is just big and look r-tard
catfood hand in , I thought the nerf of 3 to 5 was bad , I guess things can always get worse
( luckly I rarely hand in more than once a day since 2013)
I still have this weird bof ability bug on my TOS toon... it isnt even mentioned.
Don't see the point of increasing the time between hand-ins of contraband.
You've either got to spend a lot of in-game time farming ECs to buy loads of Contraband, even more time flying around sector maps doing Duty Officer assignments to get Contraband or use a tier 4 free (or lockbox) carrier with both hangers at least dil store or fleet store Orion Slavers to get Contraband (along with who knows how much other stuff) in enough quantity to make it worth while doing.
Isn't it cryptic's stated policy to get people to stay in-game as long as possible because the longer we play the more likely we spend cash.
Or is this the penultimate nail in the KDF coffin and the next time any patch-notes mention the KDF it'll be because you'll be deleting all KDF and any KDF-aligned characters or transferring all of them to ESD to get their shiney new Fed uniforms and ship?
lvl 40 freebies are tier 5, They're not as good as the kind of T5s you get at lvl 50, but they're better than genuine T4s.
As for the whole thing... IIRC, originally contraband was supposed to be possible to turn in once a day only, and while , frankly, I'll miss the ability to fill in refinement quota by it... But I think that returning one-day cooldown for it would be a good change for the game economy overall, at least for the time being (and nothing works forever anyway.)
I've been bracing for the contraband nerf since 2014. It was going to come eventually. Why? It IS abused very badly. There were other solutions like make it level 60 gated. I hope they enforce their terms of service with 2 accounts per IP. Of course I guess there are ways around this as well. People will make many many new accounts/characters. It's a lot of logging in and out but they will do it just as they have done with their contraband mules all along.

I think more this than anything else. AoY is shaping up to be a massive "What other factions?" ordeal.
Earning marks - yeah, sure, single 20 minute mission on average is the only way, measly reward because Na'kuhl alert is rated "normal", should be at least advanced considering how pumped up the npc ships are, so not worth doing
Really? You find the Na'kuhl ships are "pumped up"? They're really not much of a challenge at all, imho.

No more than having a Fed or Rom toon.
