there aren't any T5s this time. I went against my judgement and general dislike of lockboxes and opened ... a lot today. I now have 1448 lobi, and no ships, and the price difference between the vengeance and the jj-prise means i can't just trade either.
I suggest making a plan for in case you don't earn the lockbox ship. Earn some Lobi for the various items in the Lobi Store that are difficult or impossible to obtain in the Exchange like the Space sets and sell keys on the Exchange for Lockbox/Lobi Store items that you want.
Maybe you can sell the stuff you did win on the exchange, like traits and stuff and sell them all on the exchange, and make enough EC to het close to being able to buy the ship you want.
If you got the average, you should have around 1200 lobi, but if you got lucky and managed 1800 you can buy 2 Kelvin Timeline Intel Dreadnoughts. Those sell for about 320M EC each, selling them both should get you pretty close to buying the Connie. Even if you can only buy 1 Vengeance, you should have quite a bit of stuff from 300 boxes that you can sell.
Instead of continuing to open boxes, buy and sell Lobi ship(s), sell off the contents of the boxes you opened, and just make up the difference by selling keys on the exchange. Last time I looked the Connie was about 675M EC. If you can flip some lobi items and what you got from the boxes, you might be able to pull it off.
300 Keys x 5 Million EC (very conservative price) = 1.5 Billion EC. Ships are running for between 600-750M. Remember this math next time.
Seriously huh. When you're willing to spend $300 for that ship, do some MATH first and look at the exchange next time. Keys are flying off the exchange in the 5.5 mil range for days.

I've trash talked lockboxes many times, but todays little lapse of self control on my part has me in a funny situation, because if I manage to pull a connie from a box I can use my lobi to finaly grab a jem'hadar dread for my Vorta Delta Recruit ... would be a nice change from the JSS ... because of that one small fact it's entirely possible I'd have purchased more keys if it wasn't giving me a "You have spent your limit, please wait 48 hours and try again" message.

THIS! Good luck OP. Maybe its not $300 wasted after all

Read the messages again. These people are disappointed but quite civil about it. They're also not the only result being logged. I got all three KT ships in less than 160 keys. And if you have any ambition of seeing extra KT weapons, traits or module on the exchange you need people willing to take a shot at the shiny.
As much as people think they're so damn clever trying to buy their way around someone else's risk, there's a LOT of other value coming into the system form the boxes that aren't grand prizes.
And you're not any less WRONG the second time around.
The point stands that I would actually have a JJ-Prise, and spent less money, if I'd gone that route. I also wouldn't be in the predicament where I don't want to drop lobi on selling 2 vengeances (im about 350 lobi short atm anyway), because pulling a connie from a box means my delta finally gets a jem'hadar dread ...
I should have stuck to my guns and just left lockbox TRIBBLE alone ... still don't know why I did it, I logged in planning to figure out a build for my sci toon using the Big Wheels ship, and somehow ended up opening lockboxes instead ...
This is why I kinda don't open boxes at this time. However the lobi is a good trade off. You can get items from the store. Plus the loot you don't want. Others want them in the exchange. This is where I get stuff. Granted I don't like JJ Trek movies. But I kinda like the ground phasers. My AOY won't mind using them.

1) if everyone "stuck to their guns" as you describe there would be no ship for you to buy at all. People opening boxes for a ship are doing it for their own use and don't sell them. The only ones you're seeing for sale are from people who professionally milk the system and I PROMISE they are not doing it at a loss.
2) You're saying you got exactly nothing memorable out those 300 boxes that you will either use or re-sell?
I know the ships are shiny, but you simply cannot open boxes without some appreciation of the contents beyond the frigging GRAND PRIZE. In my case I also needed the two extra console pack to finish the four piece set bonus and got a pair of [dmg][CrtD][CrtD] KT phasers that go for oh, not a small number of converted keys in Ec. Dropping a half dozen KY Doff on my new TOS captain is going to be just one of a dozen little ways I accelerate their progress with other stuff that was in the boxes too.
In my case that's why I tracked what I was getting - in case I needed to console myself with the progress I did make while missing a ship.

This is an in game thing? Or a credit card thing?
It's what the website says when I try to buy more zen, doesn't even let me pick a game.
Gambling your money away you dont have a right to pee and moan about it.
But thanks for funding the game for us.

Because they're regulated.
Hostile and uncalled for.
He's not moaning or complaining, just sharing and venting a bit. No need to pour salt in the wounds.
