I'd like to see a bit more of the Kelvin Timeline; but only because I want the Kelvin and the redshirt ships.

It's just the one mission (so far, at least). And the lock box...but seriously, that's all. If we're getting any more they'll tell us.

Yes to JJ-Verse, because, why not?
  • captsolcaptsol Member Posts: 921 Arc User
What we're likely to see is Featured Episodes taking us there and another Lockbox somewhere down the road. Anything else is unlikely unless there's a lot of demand and even then something like a Kelvin Expansion of Faction won't happen for awhile yet even if there is that level of demand.

And now you've just assured the existence of an all-Catian crewed version on STO.

Hmm now the question is will they make a new DOFF assignment.... Obtain more Kitty litter from an unaligned planet... Rewards being : Failure no but you got a bundle of old wall street journels , Success you get 5 10 lbs bags of non clumping litter, Epic success you get 100 10 lbs bags of deorderizing clumping litter.

If it brings in more players then why not. I used to care but with where the game has been in the past two years i don't sweat it anymore. I play the game my way.

This is what I do too. I play the game my way and don't worry about what others might think of 'my way'.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I'm cool with more alternate reality stuff in STO.

I still call it the "alternate reality". Mostly because when somebody abbreviates "Kelvin Timeline" to "KT", the first thing that comes to mind is the extinction of the dinosaurs.

I'm cool with content from the Kelvin timeline. But we really don't need another Federation faction. Something like what they did with Delta Rising where the story revolved around the Voyager crew but didn't give us a new faction would be best, IMO.
  • farmallmfarmallm Member Posts: 4,630 Arc User
I went with partial. That is enough for me. IF they did a full round of content just for it. I won't play it.

I don't really care for the Kelvin Universe.

I haven't played the content yet, but I like the ships and think the movies were worse than good Star Trek but far better than bad Star Trek. Into Darkness was better than the first, which was better than the first, third, or fifth (early hair loss is better than the fifth) TOS films and also better than Insurrection or Nemesis. The 2009 film was about Generations-good. Maybe Voyage Home good.

So I'm good with more stuff from those. Or not, and instead getting other stuff. I like Trek. I like content. *shrug* Make it so?

Go to a convention and mention how awesome jjverse is then tell me how that goes.

It's obvious how it would go. You would start a big argument between those that agree and those that don't.

If you're under the impression that making that statement would be met with universal disdain then you would be wrong. Rather you personally like it or not, there are many long time Trek fans that like the new as well as the old.

Everyone always assumes their view is the majority.

Does it really matter? The most significant matter is the ships from the JJ verse. They do not odd out in anyway compared to ships we already have in this game. I personally like them especially the Klingon and Romulan one. I would certainly buy those two if it was possible.

Further, we have already time travel and mixing up universes. I would prefer one era and one universe, but it is not up te me. I have decided to make a human character who is going nuts because of time travelling and mixing up in alternate universes. So he no longer thinks he is a captain of a spaceship, but an actor who plays in an historical drama.

It has been met with close to universal disdain each of the maybe 100 times I've heard it mentioned. Of course many old like it, but mainly it is a generational thing and some like me do not like it. I would certainly not play a jjgame. And I will not play this one when it becomes that.

I am aware that the majority here DO like it, which is why I feel able to express my disdain freely. The majority can handle it. I would not do so at a convention where the majority despise jj.

I have a good news for ya - single [gah or even few if you like :P] lockbox[es] and maaaybe an FE is far from enought to make it "jjgame".....

and then I personally fail to comprehend how people can "despise" those movies so much....

it is not like the TV series are that much better [shots fired!]

[as you could maybe noticed I am not huge fan of star trek franchise - I like STO as I find it funny game and started watching series for two reasons - got curious where all of it came from and nothing really better to watch for the moment being - and as far as I went I fail to see all the "greatness" trekkies are spelling everywhere around - and for things that ppl are whining for missing in new trek movies - those are not there even in the series so......]

[also on another funny note to make trekkies of these forums to want to burn me even more - last time I've checked Gene Roddenberry whom name many of you are using as an argument on how movies and STO are bad - himself was very dissapointed where Star Trek went and havs started working on rephrasing that idea.... and thats how andromeda series went life :P]

I didn't particularly care for either of the KT movies (I thought they were mediocre action flicks that soundly missed the spirit of Star Trek), but I accept that it's part of the franchise (convoluted licensing rights aside), and, and this is where it gets controversial, I believe in Cryptic. They can make fun missions, and the episode Midnight proved they remember how to do Star Trek right. The most recent in the fiction series (My Own Worst Enemy) has me geeked over the prospect of armed conflict (just about the only kind an MMO can manage) against interesting opponents derived from Star Trek canon. So, I trust Cryptic, and if they're finally allowed to use the KT as fodder for their work, that just means they've got more tools to work with.

I... like Prime and Kelvin Trek.

    That... is allowed, right?
