Joseph Gatt makes his debut in Star Trek Online soon.

He’ll reprise his role as cyborg crewman 0718, last seen in Star Trek Into Darkness!

    Interesting...
He was created by the Enterprise herself!
    Nice interview also.

I think I speak for the entire STO community when I say the addition of characters from the Kelvin Timeline to the game is a positive move, and I look forward to seeing the addition of other characters.

For those wondering more, he's the humanoid avatar of the Enterprise, according to a comic and Gatt himself in the interview.

I personally think this is pretty darn cool. I loved the backstory for 0718 and I look forward to the mission!

His character feels like the JJ verse's version of a Borg Cooperative member to me. I could see the cooperative reaching out to him, maybe even the Borg targeting him.

Didn't they do that with the Tardis a few years back in Dr Who, aah another first for the "creatives" behind Star Trek.

Hes a rip-off of Rommie from Andromeda...

But more to the point, can my toons kill him, so we can get rid of the smelly pile that is the JJ verse...

Did he ever have a speaking role in the movies? Kinda a 2ndary character to go nutz over.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

I believe he had one or two lines regarding "structural integrity" or life support or communications (I can't remember which) during the Vengeance-Enterprise battle* scene above Earth. Spock asks him something, and 0718 replies with

*Although tbh, "battle" implies both sides have an equal chance of winning..that scene is more "bully" than "battle".

"Major hull damage, Captain!" when the Vengeance is curbstomping the Enterprise and "1800 meters... 1600 meters..." when Khan and Kirk are approaching the Vengeance and Scotty is taking his sweet time to open the airlock.

Nevertheless, it's probably the fact he's a cyborg, his voice and those eyes that must have fascinated some fans.

I'd be interested to hear about 0718's origins

In the interview it is mentioned that it/he was "created by the JJ-Prise to interact with the human crew".
Some elaboration there would be appreciated. Created how? Created by WHAT? Throughout the reboot movies we never saw the crew interact with the ship as if it had some background intelligence guiding/supervising it.

Limited or full fledged AI? If the latter, what are its capabilities and how is it treated?

And if it is a computer system like that of Prime universe ships... why the avatar? They cut corners with the audio pickups or something?

    So many questions...

Btw AI or not, cyborg or not, android or not, the guy needs a nickname ^^

I hate every minute of that abominations which JJ Abrams has the nerve to call star trek movies. So please stop claiming that you “speak for the entire STO community” when talking about this insults to every true star trek fan.

I promised myself that I’m going to quit this game the moment they start to add stuff form the JJ verse. So this is my first and definitely my last post on this forum.

0718 is great to have in our game. We believe the character will make a big impact whenever the player interacts with him. The potential for this character to open up entirely new avenues of gameplay is awesome! He will be the first (or perhaps one of the few) cybernetically-augmented humans in the game, and the first visitor from the Kelvin Timeline.

Um... Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't anyone that plays a Liberated Borg Human character in the game be considered cybernetically-augmented, considering they have some of the implants still grafted to them? Heck, I would think the Borg themselves would fall under that category.

Why isn't he ? Seems like a perfect link between the Kelvin and STO timelines given that they're unlikely to be able to use any of the primary cast's likenesses easily and he's a quite distinctive character with an interesting look.

Curious to see if they go with the comic's background story for him or the original augmented human origin.

If you think that was any kind of first you need to get a broader diet of sci-fi.

Hmm, a greenseer Thenn wildling gets to STO after dying a year ago at the Wall.

When do we get Direwolfs and Dragons? Oh, and the Night King? He'd fit right in.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

Meh. I watched the first movie, and then refused to watch the second (I can only suspend disbelief to a certain point...and the "E" being able to sit 100m underwater on a 1G planet, and survive to return to space exceeds that point).

You mean he's the new Sela.

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

That is a load of TRIBBLE. Though I think its positive to add more content, I think JJ trek needs to be altogether kept out, as it was promised, and alot others think so as well. Please, don't put words in others mouths, cause I would never kiss my mother with the same mouth that says "JJ-Trek is Amazing".

Time travel and glass-cannon ships hurt my head and is NOT what Trek is about. Trek is exploration, becoming better as a species, and gaining scientific knowledge while holding on to the traditions that got us where were are.

While the addition of JJ trek was inevitable, i doubt that the entire STO community or even a majority considers this a positive development. I most certainly do not consider this a positive move.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
