Wait, seriously? Is that why the game will no longer load for me? I thought it was a bug on my end that I came here to ask about (but I decided to read through existing topics first). When was this announced?
Edit: Oh, I found the announcement. TRIBBLE. Well, I guess I'm done with STO, then. I don't want to stop playing, but there you have it. It was fun while it lasted.

You can always try an emulator to run STO. WINE is a pretty popular emulator to run Window games and programs. It is not 100% bullet proof though so tweaking is likely necessary.
Yeah, but Wine has severe performance issues when running a game this graphically-intense. I've used it play Champions Online, and I have to turn all the graphic settings all the way down to minimum, otherwise the frame rate drops to single digits (and this is neither an old nor slow computer).... and STO has higher system requirements than CO.
My only real options are Huge Underperformance (with Wine), Huge Inconvenience (with Boot Camp, having to restart the entire computer every time I'd want to play - on top of actually having to buy and install Windows), Huge Expenditure (buying a second computer just to run one game), or... just don't play anymore.
Like I said, I don't really want to stop playing (I was really excited about the TOS expansion, which is why I came back), but I don't want to fiddle around with hacks and workarounds, either.
