It would appear that it would have been wiser to take the 'kill the target' route if it had meant not coming near Garak. This is going to risk some severe temporal pollution... so that makes two stories where things aren't really resolved at the end.

Well that seems to be the ongoing theme of the Temporal Cold War, it's extremely messy and you can't get 100% of what you want all the time. Or as I like to call it Annorax's Law. If only all the participants could learn the lesson of Joshua, "the only winning move is not to play."
If this means that Andrew J Robinson will be doing VO for STO, I, for one, will not be disappointed.
Do we deserve such greatness?

Anyone wanna start guessing where she hid that bomb?
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it's not for the timid." - Q
Garak!! is this a confirmation towards Andy J. coming to STO?
My favorite character in all of Star Trek. It would be freakin AMAZING if that happened. Best character EVER.
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

I hope this leads into some mission involving Garak.
Don't we all?
Amen!

Awesome story blog. One of the last guys you'd ever want knowing about time travel... or a perfect temporal agent who can keep all those twisty details in his twisty little mind.
If I'm reading this right, though, this is the pre-Sisko, pre-Bashir Garak whose morals and affiliations were considerably more flexible and mercenary than the older, wiser Garak who saw the Dominion's ravaging of Cardassia and learned to respect humans and their values even if he didn't always share them.
I'd trust old Garak to be responsible with that information, more or less. I don't have the same confidence in the younger, exiled Garak who might have done anything with it. I'd expect that Garak to set a trap to catch a time traveler and be sneaky enough to get away with it.
Were he so inclined, he'd make Noye and the Na'khul look like simpletons and outmaneuver everybody.

I'm not so sure -- by mentioning Arne Darvin, I think this is placed firmly during DS9 and the "Trials and Tribble-ations" episode.
Good read (regardless of the typos). I also hope we get Garak and Andrew Robinson for VO work soon.

Garak, guaranteed smarter than a shipload of time travelling flunkies who think they're helping matters.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

"Elim Garak, Temporal Agent! The new series coming soon on STO."
I would pay an inordinate amount of money for this.
"So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again."

Somehow I feel that this will result in a Cardassian f(r)action. If this is the case, I only emplore that the Romulan f(r)action, and the Klingon faction, be thrown a few (or a few dozen) bones, first? The timetable seems appropriate, but all of the existing squares should be squared off, before another square is added.

On the one hand I'm completely terrified. Elim Garak is the smoothest covert operator that Cardassia ever produced.
On the other hand, Elim Garak is the smoothest covert operator that Cardassia ever produced. If he's on our side...we could win this thing after all.

Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Nor will I.
Edit: On another note, great story. Garak's as sneaky as ever.

I think we can all make a pretty accurate guess >.>
Also I really hope this is a tease at Garak being in a mission.
Anyone want to give me a Temporal Heavy Dreadnought pack? I'll be your friend

Hi, I'd like a Number 2 and a Garak. Can you large size that? Thanks.
Cardassians weren't high on my list of favourite Star Trek aliens until the introduction of Garak to DS9.

Does this mean we'll finally get a DS9 interior revamp?
