Also, I'm sure there's more to it, but the alien looks like a "plus-sized" gentleman with greasy hair and sunshades. Are we to defeat this alien in hopes of stopping a fashion trend in the future?
...We got a little about the Gemini, Ranger, etc. with the Temporal Special Agent pack announcements, but when will we get to learn more about this 'Pioneer'-class? Images if nothing else, please?

If there is one thing I've learned watching Star Trek, it's that you don't want to serve on a Science ship. Those things are always doomed.
And yet, that's exactly what my main has flown for ages - and it hasn't permanently gone "kablooey" yet.
Luna (Recon Science Vessel) to Vesta to Pathfinder that's been "fleetified"...
None of them adorn a landscape anywhere or have been reduced to their component molecules...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Would imagine either we crash and the captain dies and we take over or he still dies when he foolishly goes down to the surface and we still take over.

Probably by catching one of those sharpened-log spears...
Can we please call it "Temporal Starfleet Agent" rather than "TOS starfleet agent". What gives with the nomenclature and hung up on "TOS". Aren't we talking about Temporal here after all?
So we build ANOTHER Alt character. I have a rough enough time with all the characters I have. Running the new episodes so they can all have the shinies gets incredibly tedious. I hate to delete them just because it became too much work to maintain them.
I wonder if anyone has noticed that we are getting a new faction.
“The Taurean Affair” is the tutorial for our new Temporal faction, beginning an adventure that will span the length of time from the Original Series all the way to the 28th century.
Otherwise, multiple new factions would probably have to be created just for this expansion. Just a thought:
2270's Federation, The Romulan Empire (yes, Empire, not Republic), 2270's Klingon Empire, The Gorn Hegemony/Confederation (For those who want to Gorn it up), etc.
A Temporal Faction does simplify things. Also, I might be the odd one out, but even though I enjoy creating new characters, wouldn't it make more sense to utilize our Delta Recruits for this Expansion, seeing as they are already have the Tesseract and the Temporal Agent Contact on ESD, Qo'nos, and Mo'Rihan respectively? Also, how would it be explained that certain species - either unknown in the 23rd century or un-affiliated with either the Federation, Romulan Star Empire, and the Klingon Empire - like Bajorans, Betazeds, Benzites, Orions, Gorn, etc., show up in 23rd century Starfleet?
All in all, not trying to nitpick on the minute. I am actually looking forward to the new expansion. Can't wait to see it all come together.
Also, I'm sure there's more to it, but the alien looks like a "plus-sized" gentleman with greasy hair and sunshades. Are we to defeat this alien in hopes of stopping a fashion trend in the future?
Hodor.
They make a wondrous mess of things. Brave amateurs, they do their part.
...We got a little about the Gemini, Ranger, etc. with the Temporal Special Agent pack announcements, but when will we get to learn more about this 'Pioneer'-class? Images if nothing else, please?
...Not a bad looking little ship. Can see the design tree similarities between Pioneer, Constitution, Ranger, and such. Won't necessarily mind flying one for a bit.
Does open up more questions, though;
1. Will there be other TOS-style ships besides the 'Temporal' ones from the C-Store that we'd get as we leveled up or would our TOS/AoY characters end up using the 25th Century ships as they gain levels?
2. Will the Pioneer and any other 'free' TOS/AoY ships also be available for 'normal' Starfleet characters or would they be TOS/AoY restricted?
3. Will TOS/AoY characters have access to the 25th Century ships at endgame and, if so, how will that work with the alternate '23rd Century' Sector Space instance? Would they be able to replay 23rd Century missions with 25th Century ships?
4. Bridges - will the TOS bridge be the 'standard' bridge for the TOS-ships and, if so, will they be allowed to use the 25th century bridges or not? For that matter, if the TOS bridge becomes a standard bridge for certain ships, how will that affect those of us who have previously bought the TOS Discount Pack with the bridge/interior?
5. Weapons - Will TOS/AoY players have blue phasers or orange? This one might sound a little nit-picky, but I'll admit to being curious...
And on a non-ship subject, similarly themed though, will TOS/AoY characters have the same freedom of choice as other characters or will they find themselves limited to 'temporally appropriate' uniforms?

It already is live, so long as you are gold or LTS. But be warned everything is a bit buggy right now. Even just patching Tribble has been problematic for some. Still, I suppose that's the point of Tribble testing, and I'm sure it will stabilize as time goes on.
As Zephram Cochrane once said, "That'll do, pig. That'll do." - April 1st 2015.
The Redshirt server is back and Tribble now has a 4156Mb DL...
I'm guessing NOW.

I got as far as the Phaser Rifle Box and could go no further.
Ah well, They'll work the kinks out eventually.
I'll try again after the next patch.
Also, the Dr.'s with the 24th century phaser rifles, are also wearing 24th century clothing.
And even though I can hit the SCAN button on the ground and it is apparently working, the scan graphics don't show up.

I was wondering how our characters got command of the ship, Starting as a first officer makes sense. Alot more sense than a raw recruit/cadet 2 days out of the academy being given his own ship. But as they say, needs must as the devil drives.

Ditto on the phaser rifle and the scan button. Also noted the survivors appeared to be dressed and equipped for the wrong century... I wonder if it's intentional for the plot or just some minor cosmetic tweaking required?
On another minor cosmetic quibble..the cut scene where the shuttle leaves the ship. Hopefully the doors will actually be open when the shuttle takes off? Somehow I don't think Captain Garrett would be too keen on having a shuttle shaped hole in the back of his vessel...

Neat start for the plot ... which goes all the way to the 28th century??
Okay I may be jumping the gun but I think that helps us place where... uh... when(?) the T6 Temporal ships (like the Sagittarius and Paladin) are from

Pioneer class is apparently the starting ship for the TOS faction. Pics of it are here on the splash: https://www.arcgames.com/en/splash/ads/star-trek-online-b/?hoff_transaction_id=1023673a9f9bd0c54a5affad9a22ac&hoff_vendor_id=1368&hoff_offer_id=82

Al Rivera mentions that this is a new faction to bring new people into the game in his interview with Priority One.
You may need to copy a character over to Tribble first for it to show up in the launcher:
