I've been unable to connect to the server for at least 30 minutes, on two different computers. I get messages like this:
Login server disconnected: LoginServer: 208.95.186.13:7001
Ever since yesterdays downtime its happening..It sometimes doesnt even reach character select screen!! Missions are another story all together..And also am now experiencing lags in place where it used to be silky smooth..Before downtime I wuld say 30% of sectors were server bugged because the reconnection pop up used to come, now its more like 60%..After the downtime RA's are no fun becaue of server lags and kicks..
What ever my problem was has cleared up. Im thinking it was the storm that day east of me in what is called the ohio valley. No CTD nor lag since then.
Having some crazy connection issues since yesterday.
- the launcher takes ages to load
- the game takes ages to get me to the character selection screen
- if I manage to actually select a character, it either doesn't load the game any further
- or If I manage to connect, I'm either getting stuck in a loading screen or
- getting heavy rubberbanding followed by a disconnect after a few moments
I've done a bunch of things on my end but everything looks good so far. Netgraph showing 100-200 ms for a few moments and then getting stuck somewhere between 1000 and 11404 ms, strangly though, there is no red connection issue message in the middle of the screen. Something is very off since the last patch...
Edit: I'm not seeing any unusual behaviour on my end, using netspeedmonitor and tcpview.

HI I had filed a ticket with regard to this..Support was kinda helpful in terms of a solution to the lagging and server kicks..They told me to tone down my graphics settings and see if it helped, and what you know for some extremly mysterious reason it did and server kicks are virtually gone, not one kick since i toned down the graphics although in heavy fleet engagments with alot of ships it does tend to be choppy but no lags what so ever..I can only conclude that it has to d with the optimisation of the game overall as I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with 8GB ram, a GTX560SE 1 GB card a quad core 2.6GHz, about 75GB free space on one partition where STO is installed alone, all updated drivers and a 4MBPS ADSL2+ connection..
SO to summarise, from my point of view its a game optimisation problem..
For the launcher install IE10 and downlaod Java software from filehippo..The launcher somewhat needs it..I did that and it is quite quick now..Takes about 30 seconds as compared to the earlier 5 mins to not even responding issue..
I was able to connect via my phone just fine but not via my ISP, yesterday evening. I am able to connect right now again via ISP and it's looking good so far.
Edit: getting more and more laggy for me again + a disconnect, guess I have to contact isp support later on...
try dialing down the graphics and check your cards control panel accordingly..I just noticed another thing with my card drivrs..Everytime I updated it by default reverts to auto select for PhysX..So if you have an NVIDIA card reset to the GPU..
Since I am able to connect via my phone just fine, then this issue has obviously nothing to do with any of my gfx settings. But thanks for your input though
Plaz..I had the same issue..I could connect to the gateway without any problem on my cellular network..While on my ISP it caused issues..Then I tried a VPN to bypass any blocks that may be in place and it worked...Then once in game I didnt touch the graphics at all initially after the first run I cranked up everything as my system can easily handle it and boom!! Server kicks to no end and lags beyond belief..Then raised na ticket and there came a wierd and mysterious solution of dialing down graphics and what you know it worked..Server kicks were gone and only choppy gameplay in certain areas and massive fleet engagements..Thus leads me to believe its an optimisation issue that the devs need to fix..
Well you know, my gfx settings are already set up pretty low, there's is not a lot more left that I could reduce anyways, a specific option would be helpful at this point to see excacly what is causing it. Besides that, this is not really a solution but only a temporary fix. I don't remember changing anything since the latest patch, and all of a sudden there's an connection issue...that's pretty weird.
Makes me wonder, how exactly did the support came up with this idea in the first place, since the gfx card and it settings are usually not exactly directly related with network issues as such...perhaps only when using the same resources (IRQ sharing for instance) but that's a really, really rare case if at all, especially on a laptop I think.
Been able to play a few hours yesterday but it has gotten worse In the evening again, rubberbanding, disconnects and connection issues. Looking forward for the cc event, 8 chars to go
Yeah yesterdday evening it was unbearable..I was gonna exit in the middle of an RA cause was rubberbanding like TRIBBLE, but the game kicked me out..Definetly a server issue when there are more player online..
Comments
I was getting lots of lag and SNR when playing... my friend was constantly being booted and a fleet mate was getting some lag.
