Wow. So as a mod you posted a new thread instead of posting your feedback here:

    http://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1214974/agents-of-yesterday-announcement/p1

Is it OK for everyone else to post their own seperate threads too? Or do they need to post in an existing thread?

There has been uncalled for negativity regarding unreleased expansion, and I feel/believe that one part of a job of a Community moderator is to try & promote positive discussion.

It's not a matter of what you feel/believe and you can't take it upon yourself to simply do the Cryptic's marketing department job. There are clear guidelines you have to follow, and the reason for your existence is to actually enable and ensure constructive conversation.
    Endless negativity is NOT constructive.

I would guess people older than i who was around to see TOS on tv. So players 50 or above, that is a really narrow market to appeal to and make money from. The TOS expansion will not be good for star trek onlines pocket book i predict, and could be a nail in the coffin. I am however looking forward to new content no matter what it is. I would wage most people in the 30 and under target market, well you can figure out the rest...

Honestly, I'm not yet sure how to respond to AoY or its announcement, because we know almost nothing about it. All I know for sure is:
    • TOS fed faction (no Rom or KDF)
    • there will be temporal agents recruitment event at start (not sure if for all factions)
    • they're getting quite a few voice actors
    • some other minor stuff

While all this has the potential to make me excited, what I don't know (or in the case of what's in the first bullet's parenthesis, do know) that makes me apprehensive. So basically: More info please Cryptic! :#

It is very sad to see how many people are bashing and hating on the new annoucement of the Agents of Yesterday expansion even though the annoucements have only just started and how no body has played any of the content yet.

So many comments about not liking TOS and wanting more DS9 (or insert other series) focused content. At the moment we have had the annoucement of the new expansion and the packs - it is focused on TOS (and given it is the 50th anniversary, so it should!).
People should also remember three things:
    1. We know little about what is to be included in this expansion!
    2. Ships in the packs also take some of their design inspiration seen in Enterprise (1701-J) not just TOS
    3. Everything in the current STO timeline has just about everything seen on screen as "Yesterday" so there is yet no way to know if other aspects of TNG, DS9, VOY or ENT are still to be included

As there are SO MANY threads and posts with all this negativity, this post is for those who are looking forward and are excited about what appears to be coming in Agents of Yesterday this summer.

If you want to post about your disappointment, please do so on any of the OTHER threads that are about such a thing. I will probably even move (or delete) posts that are not on topic for this thread which is "I AM looking forward to Agents of Yesterday".

Personally, I am excited to see what they have coming this summer and want to thank the developers for all their hard work.

Thank you for this thread, it's great to see fellow TOS fans appreciating the hard work of our dev team. Not only did I think I was dreaming and nearly burst in to tears when I first found out about Agents of Yesterday (as all of my fantasy and imagination about trek takes place in the TOS and TOS movie era), I think this is HIGHLY appropriate as we have a chance to get our original cast voices immortalized and the fiftieth anniversary is of original trek.

Here are some predictions I have for this upcoming content:
1- There will be KDF and Romulan ships announced closer to the date.
2- A new take on 23rd century weapons, including tos torpedos, pulse phasers and the motion picture/wrath of khan phasers that seemed to oscillate.
3- A new animation for tos transporter effect as well as hand held flip communicators.
4- New music, that reprises the tos themes from the episodes, and adds to the immersion.
5- Just as with the expansions of LoR and DR, instead of a new section of the galaxy, the 23rd century starfleet and Earth will be a separate map. Sort of like the Delta Quadrant is a separate zone. When you are in the 23rd century the starbases, and planets and architecture will all be consistent with 23rd century. It will in effect feel like a new game.
6- Possibly with enough encouragement we may get some movie era interiors, such as the excelsior and Enterprise A bridge sets, a motion picture bridge set would also be appropriate for the T5 battlecruisers. Interiors have never been a huge priority for Cryptic unless they played in to a story line. We already have the TOS interior, which is great. I think many others would love movie interiors including crew decks and engineering to go with their role playing and the foundry... I know that we already see Scotty in his later years in his vest, so we should expect the full Movie era uniform sets and ship interiors at some point as I'm sure the end of the Agents of Yesterday may involve the Enterprise A and even a Cameo by William Shatner.

FASA did a bunch of Klingon and Romulan design for that era. I wish we'd see some of them. Playable or not.

I'm cautiously looking forward to some of the things AoY has to offer, but tbh TOS has always been my absolute least favorite trek ... don't get me wrong I like the original crew, particularly in the better TMP movies, but the 60s production values of TOS just bother me way too much, though it did become a little easier for me once Enterprise gave an acceptable explanation for the klingon appearance discrepancies.

38 here and I liked the reruns of TOS I watched but it wasn't until Wrath of Khan that I really began to love Trek. I'd prefer movie era stuff of course but I'm totally psyched for TOS stuff.

There were some really badass designs from FASA but I think the typical legal BS will keep them out. Pity the Winged Defender would be an instant purchase for my Romulans

60s production, not 70s, first aired 1966, hence why this year is the 50th. The animated series came out in 73, only Trek series in the 70s. TMP only barely made it into the 70s as it came out in 1978.

    Corrected, thanks

doubtless his cost is likely to set back cryptic quite a bit more than they are willing to offer shatner, especially if his minimum demand is most unreasonable.

it is better to find someone to voice kirk, that Vic person from continues is okay but lacks the accent that shatner had, but if push comes to shove and vic can do the role of kirk, by all means.

Edit: just realized its gone right off topic.

Gonna respond to your crossed out stuff just to say, they already hired Vic, that's his voice in the Agents of Yesterday trailer, confirmed by Vic in a tweet to the STO twitter. Now whether or not Vic has a part as Kirk in the game itself or just the trailer I do not know.

i crossed it out because it was not part of the moderators op point which is "who is looking forward to AOY?" and not a discussion on which actors are coming. and this response is also just as off point.

The biggest movie of last year was practically a line for line remake of a movie made years before most of the audience was born. Kids these days are big on retro, apparently.

Yeah the original was so much better, that remake seriously sucked, I still can't believe it made over a billion dollars. I have high hopes for the spinoff this year though.

I AM part of the camp that never was crazy about TOS though, as stated above.

I am definitely more a fan of TNG/DS9 and the "modern" era, but I must say I was surprised how well the old TOS episode still hold up today.

Sure, they can't hide that they are products of t heir time (or a low budget), but many of the arcs and the characterization just works well. TNG just seems to produce more cringe-worthy scenes in its first 1 or 2 seasons then TOS in its entire run. But of course, TNG has the benefit of having a lot more seasons than that.

I admit I was excited, but now not so. Might be if I can roll a Catian or other furry looking alien I might be interested. If not, meh, no scales off my muzzle. Just won't bother with it.

Caitain are highly likely, as they appear in both TAS and TWOK era movies.
