oh great more fed ships, it would be nice if cryptic remembered that there are 2 other factions in the game
Not just ships, but Federation-only pack, and with a new ship specialization, higher stats, and starship traits, right after Feds were given access to a battle-cloaking raider, battlecruiser, and science ship in lobi/lockbox.
This isn't a Federation pack, though.
... And at the same time, it is. Weird.
From what I've been able to piece together, there's a new 'TOS'/Temporal Agent faction, and that bundle is their equivalent of the Legacy Pack.
Even if that is true(which I think it is, as I explained in my last post) it seems that all 3 factions are being forced/shoehorned into playing Starfleet officers in TOS era. So by joining this new faction you lose your KDF/ROM identity. It seems.
Given the presence of non-endgame ships, I'd say that's wrong. More likely, they're an entirely new faction with their own storyline and ships and stuff. Romulans, or maybe Romulans Plus.
Yeah, on second thought I realize that a new character has no "KDF/ROM" identity to lose. So if this is a new faction that you start a new character to join, then Starfleet would simply be the only available option. So you wouldn't even be choosing your faction.
Considering the pack has already been released I wish they would just release the information blog. The speculation/assumption machine has really gone into overdrive.
They probably published the page too early. I'm not sure how it was found, but someone posted it over on reddit 6 hours ago, which was really early in Cryptic's time.

But is it a pay to play faction? What do you play if you don't buy this pack - do we get free TOS ships or play TOS content in regular ships?
Most likely, it'll be set up like the Romulans - one set of free ships, one set of paid ships, and a big lump of paid endgame ships.

Indeed, it's crazy. Although to be fair, usually Cryptic gives some sort of info beforehand, even if it's just hype ads for weeks. This is a new precedent of not giving any kind of information at all until an hour or so before the release
An hour before the release? I'd say we're about to be treated to the official announcement, not the actual release. (Remember LoR!)

I'm pretty sure this was a mistake.
Agreed. Somebody messed up, and I'm pretty sure it's not the PR department.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Considering there is also "just" the "Starter-Pack" with 1x T1 & 1x T6 Ships, I would've to assume there are going to be alternatives in between ... otherwise the "Starter-Pack" would only allow you to play from Level 1-10 ;(

The Starter Pack is the same thing they had with LoR. One small bundle containing a T1 ship and an endgame ship, and one superbundle containing everything.

If you bought the pack already, it'll probably unlock when the expansion hits (if it is an expansion) much like the delta pack did. I bought that a while before being able to use it.
It's not time for a new season yet, they'll just release a blog linking to this pack. Get your wallet throwing arms ready, aim for that screen.
I don't them not "existing" has anything to do with it; I just don't think we'll be playing them as part of this new faction/expansion. That said, I am really looking forward to hearing how them try to 'explain' or 'justify' it in a game where we already have those 2 factions

Klingons and Romulans of that era wouldn't be too eager to help what they perceive as the Federation. Given that the TOS character is presumably going to be recruited as a temporal agent for the Galactic Union...

Ehh, ill wait and see whats up with this "expansion", the complete lack of anything KDF or ROM bodes real ill wind to me for the game in general.
Winding down a dead end road to me.
There is precedent for this sort of action. LoR also had a 'complete lack of anything KDF or Fed' in its bundles, and outside of a few shared costumes, the 25th-century Starfleet faction is getting no more than the KDF or Republic.

No, you misunderstand. I'm not talking about a half baked story explanation, I'm talking about a real life explanation where a game decides to effectively ignore 2 of the factions it already has. Of course, from the business end we know 90% of players play Fed anyway, but I'm still looking forward to hearing their explanations/justifications on the issue.
PS: this is all hypothetical of course. We don't really know what will/wont be included in this expansion. And personally, I won't be mad either way

instead of the guessed start fron level one with a new character. we start at 60 with old character as part of new faction probably temporal agent of that alliance we saved. since in that time they have already been assimilated by the fedration in that time cryptic gets an excuse to pretend they never existed.
wild guess do not take as anything but a somewhat bitter joke.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Well when most of the content thats been released as been feds since release what do you expect. I would at least hope for a wide rangeing option of species choices for captain.
Well well well. That's one way to celebrate the 50th. To literally go back and finish the five year mission. Or rather see what happened there. I've never even thought about a character in the TOS time period. This should make lots of people very very happy though. I wonder if they'll have the dreadnought class?
I'm more of a 24th - 25th century kind of guy, but this should be a lot of fun...and TOS minidresses are always win.

Looks a bit like the Paradox, doesn't it?

Can we get a discussion stating this?!

I guess they haven't posted the stats for the ships yet.
If it has a hangar bay, that will still be a good thing.

Kind of raises more question than it really answers ... but still better than nothing ... waiting for the next blogs ...
Losing faith in humanity, one person at a time.
No Kirk, no Spock impersonator (seeing as they're going with Scotty impersonators ), no McCoy impersonator? No Sulu, no Uhura? No release date?
I am disappointed.
