Maybe this is where they finally drop the illusion that there are any other factions. Not that I (personally) mind...I do know there are those that are deep into Klingon/Romulan faction and I do feel bad for them
Well well well. That's one way to celebrate the 50th. To literally go back and finish the five year mission. Or rather see what happened there. I've never even thought about a character in the TOS time period. This should make lots of people very very happy though. I wonder if they'll have the dreadnought class?
I'm more of a 24th - 25th century kind of guy, but this should be a lot of fun...and TOS minidresses are always win.
Even though I grew up on ToS (in the 70s) I have always preferred TNG Era. But I will go into this expansion happily as it's "new".

*deadpan* DOOOOOOM. All Klingons and Romulans are DOOOOOOOOOMED. The modern Federation is DOOOOOMED. There is only the TOS Federation. (Until that, too, is DOOOOOOOMED.)
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
So, the 5/5 surprise was the announcement of more blogs about the announcement?

"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
If that agent pack is as feddy as it seems, i.e. no nonfed stuff, then that will be the first expansion pack i did not get.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.

I wouldn't go so far as doom...maybe just a shift in overall focus. Instead of multiple factions now we have just one. Just a guess really...follow on blogs could address the Klingon/Romulan Factions place in the new XP

This is me really. I am happy for people who love the idea of creating a TOS captain, but I grew up on TNG era, so that has always been more "Star Trek" for me. Don't get me wrong. I have seen bits and pieces of the Original series (and own the DVDs) but the era I always loved playing in was TNG/DS9/VOY, rather then TOS.
Still wasn't really into Delta Rising either, so it is not like Cryptic has to cater to me specifically. And it does sound like there will be stuff for non-TOS captains. So good stuff there.
Oh you have to be F'Ing kidding me...
Based upon the starter & mega packs, we're gonna be able to play back in TOS era. Oh joy!!! Why?
And I bet ya I wouldn't be able to get the 'packs' since I already have the TOS Connie and standard TOS uniforms and command tunics...
I get it that this is TOS's 50th. But do we really need to be celebrating it by going back through and playing in a post-TOS, pre-TMP environment? Trek, generally, is about going forward, ST: Enterprise excepted.
I am really disappointed about this.
Thank you for the time...

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content
Told you. This is a second LoR, with all the trimmings.
Yeah, you did. I'm a bit disappointed, I held back a new character because I thought we'll get a delta event today
The TOS expansion is great of course, if and that's a big if, the TOS and the TNG doesn't mix wildly. If it's simply FEs and I have to pretend I'm in a TOS setting but really aren't (temed with TNG players, fighting Borg and other TNG enemies) it's not of much value to me personally...

Nonsense, we still have the existing factions.

Anybody else see a remarkable evolution towards the Enterprise J in those T6 ships? That Temporal Pack is very tempting, for sure. Can't wait to see a whole new story arc full of new TOS content. And it's more than a little amusing that they managed to wedge in "TOS" as a meaningful acronym. Lol.
I still do not understand WHY people make threads of another thread? Shouldn't the Official Blog News or the Galactic News good enough for it. Why would anyone get their news from a forum?

No TOS Music in the Vid...

I wonder how this new or rather century old faction get linked to the current timeline in sto. Wild guess: Remember the TNG episode with the time loop and a 100 year old ship emerging inside the pyphon expanse? I bet they use it as means to an end to bring all those TOS-faction chars to us to join a fed fleet.
Old chars (so maybe roms and klings too) get some new episodes, reputation and specialization, so at least some nonfed ships seems to be needed, but we will see.

Nonsense, this is going to be a Temporal Cold War thing. (Or, perhaps, Temporal Hot War. I'm not sure.)

Ehh, ill wait and see whats up with this "expansion", the complete lack of anything KDF or ROM bodes real ill wind to me for the game in general.
Winding down a dead end road to me.
There is precedent for this sort of action. LoR also had a 'complete lack of anything KDF or Fed' in its bundles, and outside of a few shared costumes, the 25th-century Starfleet faction is getting no more than the KDF or Republic.
While i certainly agree with your statement here, what exactly is a kdf or rommy cpt going to do in this update do you think.?
I have 4 fed chars, and one fed aligned rommy, i am not disappointed with the news where they are concerned.
I do not however wish to start another character at all "if" that will be required anyway, and i am left scratching my head as to what my kdf engineer and rommy tac are going to do lol.

Creating a new character will definitely be necessary to be in the new faction (or be a Temporal Recruit). As for non-TOS characters, it seems there's a new reputation and a new story arc, not unlike the Tholian reputation and Nimbus arc from LoR.

Some of those ships are explicitly not 23rd-century technology. They're definitely not planning that.
