Attack Pattern Omega - broken as intended?

Usually I keep grinding on queues and have not much issues on gameplay but yesterday I decided to pay a visit to deep space encounter - assimilate the barbarians, and noticed that pattern omega does not work anymore to free you from borg tractor beams, so is it broken or this is intended? On white tractor beams (tholians for example) it works fine.

    It's a bit.... disheartening.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

The mechanic seems to be borked, polarize hull doesn't work i some instances as well.

Never the less, if I may voice an unpopular opinion, I'd say this is a good change. A Borg Tractor Beam is not the same as a normal TB and should require some more thought. Keep your distance or use abilities like A2ID and evasive to lessen the effect would do a bit to make the game more interesting. Further, APO is a nonsense ability. Why does an attack pattern grant you immunity to hold effects, increased damage AND defense as well as speed? What kind of one-size-fits-all ability is this supposed to be in the first place?

I would suspect it's a bug that gets fixed. If it's not, however, it's not a bad thing in my opinion.

So basically anything anti tractor beam is borked.
How the hell did they manage that??

I've reported polarise hull and also have a thread in this section about it.

Is it for regular tractors as well? I think someone observed it only affecting Borg.

    I'll have to double check.
I'm pretty sure even a lowish level npc romulan in a fleet alert managed to slow me to a crawl

It seems not work on stingers as well. I tested on Carraya System where you need to defeat some Talshiar.

Borked against Tholians as well I suspect. No wonder I'd been having such problems with the Tholians in CCA >.<

It is however a somewhat sad state so many people are troubled with tractor beams once the immunity doesn't work any more.

To get out of a tractor beam, you can use:

    Evasive Manoeuvres
    Auxilliary to Intertial Dampeners (proactive!)
    Antimatter Spread
    Morale Boost
    Scramble Sensors
    Jam Sensors
    Clean Getaway

and possibly a few more unique consoles with placate and confuse effects. Get creative pig-1.gif

You can also use the T5 romulan rep ability "Quantum Singularity Manipulation", if you have it.

I've been noticing this too, it's sporadic whether the anti-hold abilities work or not. I've had PH get me out of tractor beams sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, regardless of whether it's Borg, Tholian, Romulan, or anything else.

Of course, you could just play an OP Tac and blow them up before they even get the chance to TB you. Because, you know, that's a one size fits all solution to literally everything in the game.

It's not that I can't get out of it or circumvent it in another fashion (taken to using Jam Sensors since one of my boffs already had that one) it's that we now have an ability that doesn't work as it claims it does and that is annoying. Plus it takes a bit before you notice, there's a lot going on in battle, which leads to blowing up more times than necessary.

That is completely understandable and it is obviously a bug that has to be fixed, no argument here. But some postings really seem desperate, almost like BFAW wouldn't suddenly solve all problems. That's what I find very shocking pig-3.gif

evasive manoeuvres doesnt do anything with tractor beams.
Some of the ones you say are also traits, which not everyone has and other stuff they may not have room to slot, or would need an entirely different build. I much prefer the option of having a Boff skill thats supposed to do something do that something. Polarize is also a good damage resist as well.

I thought the Pilot Spec gave you slight immunity to tractors etc

evasive manoeuvres doesnt do anything with tractor beams.(...)

It let's you most definitely escape them. It's temporary, but under evasive tractors don't affect you.

EDIT: Oh, Emergency Power to Engines helps you as well.

It works about as well as APO. I've had Evasive fail plenty of times in the past month or so.

It might have something to do with timing. Maybe it can stop you while tractored during evasive, but I am certain if tractored evasive lets you get around and away. A2ID for example only works if activated before the tractor beam grabs you. EptE for example only works if already tractored. Sometimes timing is important.

Low level tractors you can escape from with evasive but it's slow and not guaranteed.
