He does have a point, though. You could have gone to sleep 15 minutes later, or you could have gotten up 15 minutes earlier.
No he doesn't. And I just told him I learnt of it the following day around 3pm. I am complaining about a patch time that could have been implemented earlier or later. Not during the entire afternoon, which is usually when I can play. You're asking me to change my day into night. And frankly you're way out of line, so unless you want to me to "shut up" again and get us all censored, I'd suggest we no longer discuss it any further. I just wanted to leave a comment. Not get drawn in a full blown argument of how every post I make is valid or not.
You could have tried checking the first chance you got after the date and time noted in the announcement. And to be perfectly honest, you've already drawn yourself into a full-blown argument, just not about 'how every post you make is valid or not'.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

Please just stop discussing it. I don't have a tag on my back saying Dalolorn quote my posts and argue why I am wrong. You just like having confrontations with people. And when I call you out on it, you lose your temper.
Actually, the one time I lost my temper was when this ridiculous debate started spilling over into threads it didn't belong in. (Though arguably it doesn't belong anywhere anymore. Also, I'm not quoting you. )
Anyway, it's not that I like having confrontations with people - it's just that I don't like factually inaccurate information like "Cryptic didn't give me sufficient warning" or attitudes like "I deserve to have somebody come up to my house in person to tell me about the giveaway, or better yet, the giveaway should just be dropped into my inventory without any interaction from me (though I have to admit this last bit would be nice )" constantly cropping up unchallenged. It's when such things are repeatedly presented moments (relatively speaking ) after they had just been dismantled piece by piece that I start to lose my temper and explode the way I did.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
And don't try and excuse yourself for those actions like you had justification. Another thing that doesn't belong on a forum is dictating what people should post on their feedback. And that's exactly what you continue to do. You throw around blind accusations about people, and try and claim your own opinion as being factually correct. You're just a highlight of what not to do.

In Astara's defense, the way I take how this played out is this:
13 Apr, Shortly after 10AM PDT: Astara attempts to claim ships via promotions tab. Since most "promotional" ships are "bought" at a 100% discount, they weren't there. Launcher link and "master blog" were not updated with this information.
Astara "gives up".
13 Apr, 12 Noon PDT: Blog is updated by this point.
14 Apr, around 7 or 8 AM PDT: Astara logs back in. While the "right" instructions are up, the game is down due to maintenance. Rant composed.
And I've sat here, for most of the past couple of days, wondering why Cryptic "needs" to adjust maintenance windows or giveaway times when a slight... extra deviation... from a player's "nominal course" would have been enough to avoid the maintenance issue...
Because crying "I had no opportunity" when, as I see/say it, Cryptic was providing the opportunity - the issue at hand is an unwillingness to take full advantage of the opportunity.
Chat was ablaze with the news as of 12:02PM CDT (my timezone) - I know, I was there. DOffjobs and Science Channel were the first ones mentioning it, I have zone usually shut off, NoP Public service went into "cut-paste every two minutes when the next guy asked" mode and I don't care what the DPS channels (10k and bronze) were up to, but I'm sure the new ships were a topic of conversation. Astara does not use "in game chat" as a method of accepting "in game news", so while people were chatting up the exact location and what ships were in the promotion, Astara was off checking the promotions tab, seeing nothing new, and moving on...
The Blog was updated by 2 PM CDT. While Astara does not like to sit on ARC waiting for the blog to update, a singular check at anytime post-2PM CDT would have yielded the information he sought. Even if he checked back every half hour, hour, whatever (I tended toward hourly just to confirm the chat channels, which is why I say I saw it at 2PM, it could have been up at 1:05PM CDT... Still gonna use 2PM as that's what I know) it would not have been "every waking minute" yet he would have seen the "right instructions"...
And even factoring 8 hours of sleep and 8 hours for "work" on top of the two hour delay in blog posting, that leaves 3 hours in which the blog was up and the giveaway was "fully active" - what I figure was "ample opportunities" for most anyone to have performed the steps and procured the ships...
Yet, the "ebul maintenance" is the only reason certain... people... failed to procure the ship. Astara's the latest in a long line of people perpetrating this... belief... despite a lot of evidence to the contrary...
I provide said evidence, and get it called a strawman. Attitudes like this could convince a person that the motivation(s) to do what was necessary was lacking and it's time to call for the whaaaambulance to cater to "special snowflake syndrome"...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

seriously... every giveaway that happens on a Thursday has downtime interrupt the giveaway.
And, since the downtime for you is "mid afternoon", 50 weeks a year (not much maintenance around Christmas) you should be quite... aware... of when the game doesn't function.
For the record, the traditional maintenance window occurs for me shortly after I get the kids off to school (7AM PT = 9AM CT) and frequently lasts until I have to go in to work (10 AM PT / 12 Noon CT) if I close. So I've "lost" more than my "fair share" of Thursday playing opportunities to maintenances in my life, yet I haven't missed a single giveaway or day of item procuring if it was "that important" for me to do so in order to fulfill the terms of the giveaway...

Why are people still going on about this half a week after the give away ended?
Stop rambling and get over it already.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Because I am rambling on, and dareau had the need to 'correct' me that I had plenty of chances to get a giveaway and I am entirely responsible for the situation that played out.
And he is a *she dareau. Your factually information is not factual, neither is the other long list. And name calling was totally unnecessary. Didn't you just say yourself "if you haven't got anything nice to say don't say anything at all". You're a complete and utter hypocrite if I am special snowflake with syndrome disorder.

I wish they would close this thread.
Astara, the easiest thing here is if you don't like what they say, and don't want to be in a debate about it, stop responding.
Simple.
And dareau did not resort to name calling, but pointed that a particular attitude is not to their liking and used a colorful metaphor to express it and what can be done with about it. Addotionally, I am unaware of any point that dareau presented themselves as female. And, to further go with this, it is a common practice to refer to people, regardless of gender, as "he's" in writing. Also point out that someone refered to a person as a he when they are she does not invalidate the facts presented in the argument that have nothing to do with the gender of any person in the conversation.
Simply put, Astara, others state that you could have found a way to get those ships if it was that important to you. The fact that their was maintenance was at the end of this giveaway was a known quantity for days, and a consistent pattern from cryptic. Enough of one that the player should have been able to plan for it. I can only concur with this and leave it to you as to what you can have done to account for these known factors?
And if you don't like what I have to say, feel free to not respond.
I am trying to polite as possible.
sisteric your right about everything, except the gender and name calling. He was attempting to provoke a emotional response intentional or not. And I am sure it was directed at me and others like me 'complaining' on the subject. The other one was correcting him on referring me as "he". Not a huge problem, but I wanted to correct it.
Here is my metaphor of everyone that finds me a 'special snow flake' and feels the need to rant about my feedback.
And since people made such a big deal about me complaining about it. I am going to buy the ships with some zen I stored with dilthium. Either way I got them free, and I am metaphorically spitting on those that gave me a hard time about it in the first place.
This is why we can't have nice things... Matter of fact, I'm surprised Cryptic does giveaways at all! If I were the devs, I'd be sick and tired of the player base moaning and complaining when I gave them free stuff... I'd think to myself "well, lets not give them freebies for a while and see how they like it..."
Seriously, you missed a few freebies... it doesn't affect your game. STOP COMPLAINING!!
ugh...
