I think the confusion is from the dates in the blog post. It mentions 11th - 14th, so people automatically assume that means 11, 12, 13, 14 = 4 days. So they think that means 4 giveaways.
It really means that the "event" ends on the 14th so there is no item that day. In fact it actually states something like until 10am on the 14th or something, so it should be obvious there's no item today.
11th - 12th = one item. (spec points)
12th - 13th = one item. (inventory slots)
13th - 14th = one item. (well 3 ships)
pretty much what I was wondering. It doesn't really bother me either way. Just making sure I don't miss anything without realizing it.
Great give aways all in all. They are all very much appreciated.
The previous giveaway weren't actual ships but cards for the Admiralty minigame. These are actual playable starships you claim from the store and for that to work you need a character of the appropriate faction (each one gets a ship) and the minimum level requirement to play the ship (level 20 in this case). That is a redundant requirement I give you that since they can put ships in boxes that you don't hae to open immedeatly but never the less the requirement still exists.
So if i understand you right, i never had a chance to actually claim that ship, because the level of my characters is too low and those other admirality ships things are useless so i can throw them away ?
No. Don't dump your Admiralty Cards. They are rare and won't be offered again until next year. Always assume never until you've become more familiar with the game to know otherwise. Store them until your character achieves the necessary progress to unlock the Admiralty System.
Regarding the C-store, only costumes and services can be bought regardless of your character progression within the game. All other offerings are gated until at least one character in a faction has achieved the minimum level to actually use them within the game. We (generally speaking) experience confusion about this anytime Cryptic offers starships for free off their cash shop. I've played the game for six years. I've also ran afoul of this limitation a few times. Guess whose Romulan hadn't yet achieved Commander Rank? Mine. And, timing being what it was this week, I simply had too little available time to progress the character over the hump to claim the Valdore. It can be a frustration. But stuff happens.
And while a player joins a gaming community like this anew every day, the new player simply isn't always gonna arrive in time to snag everything that everyone else already has. It's simply the nature of this particular beast. Don't let it ruin your ability to have fun playing what you do have access to.
(/\) Exploring Star Trek Online Since July 2008 (/\)
I had the same problem with my Rom. Got the Fed over the hump for the Thunderchild since it was closest, but only got to 16th with the Rom. He started at 4th level, and had allied with the KDF to try to get both ships. Well next time for sure!
What was your Rom captain's level, and did you make room in your active slots for a new ship?
If he was 20+ but had no free ship slots you would have seen a helpful message telling you that your ships were already at maximum. That is the C-Store's way of telling you to make room.
Man, you just can't win can you? You can't reclaim event ships. You can't claim free ships from giveaways.
Ok, so the giveaway ended 9 hours before you made your post. Did you try and claim the ship before then? If you did, check what the other poster said about slot limits and checking with the right character next time. Protip: you can't claim romulan ships when logged in as Federation or KDF characters.

When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
One of the reasons I stopped playing (and just came back today) was that I felt hopelessly outclassed by all the other players in their fancy ships! xD Now it looks like I'm going to miss out on the giveaway vessel(s) because by the time the game updates on my poor connection, the gifts will no longer be on offer! Am I doomed to play on the most basic of starter ships forever? At least nobody will notice my piece of junk, except perhaps the poorest of salvage hunters.

There's a summer event coming up soon (late May/June) and a free ship there which is top of the line. And honestly any of the ships you get whilst leveling are more than capable of dealing with endgame content. And believe me nobody is bothered if you fly a garbage scow or a Galaxy class, it's HOW you fly it that makes the difference.
Hmmm! Interesting! Finally, a chance to get a decent ship. Ok, maybe I'll also try installing the game on my new i7 Skylake (Intel Iris Graphics) laptop that I'm bringing with me to America, whilst on holiday. I can hopefully play STO if I ever get any spare moments - eg. during stormy weather or late at night. It will get me in the mood for when I visit places like Paramount Studios and the Star Trek 50th Anniversary convention in Vegas.
To celebrate the coming release of Season 11.5, Star Trek Online will be giving out some great rewards. From 4/11/16 to 4/14/16 every 24 hours, we’ll be giving out a different item, so be sure to grab these up!
I would really like to just get these when i login, this is the second time i was logged in but didnt know about the give away,
And id i read the comments i missed out some skillpoints aswell, just give it or make it available until its claimed that would be the logic thing to do.

Actually Malon "garbage scows" are decent ships. You just have to use a build that takes advantage of their strengths.

They were levelling ships. They have nice consoles, but you'd outgrow them fairly quickly. Cryptic does a couple of these giveaways every year, in addition to the 3 event ships they give away every year. (Summer, winter, anniversary.) While I have bought ships, 4 of my 5 characters are flying ships that I didn't pay for.

Wow, you make the announcement of the give-away on Wed 13th, when it's already started 2 days earlier? Thanks for the heads-up... NOT. Of course I missed out, with such "timely" Information.

Ugh, this needs to get thrown into the FCT. It also needs to get thrown into a new category, the FCP.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Rollback to page 1 on this thread. The thread was created ~ the same time the news announcement was made. What you see on the blog post is the date it was last edited.

Cryptic gives all STO players an opportunity to earn 3 free "end game" starships every year. You earn them by logging in and doing the daily event to earn 1,000 vouchers specific to that event. The Anniversary Event has a featured episode (main story mission) that rewards 400 vouchers on the 1st play through for each captain. No, you cannot combine all the 400 vouchers earned by each captain to count towards the 1,000 required vouchers.
Once you have all 1,000 vouchers you will be able to complete an event project that will unlock the ship for you to claim. "Event starships" are account unlocked. That means you only need one captain to complete the event and the ship can be claimed by all current captains on your account and any future captains you decided to create. So if you earn the upcoming summer event T6 starship, that same starship will be available to a new captain you create in 2017; assuming that captain is at least level 40.
Anniversary Event - Starts towards the end of January and finishes towards the end of February.
Summer Event - Starts early June and ends in mid- July.
Winter Event - Starts early December and ends mid-January.

Factually incorrect, the best kind of incorrect.
Of course you'd know that already if you bothered to read this thread before posting.
[No offence to the work put in this forum. But it's not always updated every following day immediately after.
You lost me right here. You knew there was a blog, with a clearly defined schedule, that indicated that something was to happen at (my guess) 5PM "your time" (10 AM PDT) on 4/13.
And not everyone spends their waking moment on Arcs website. The launcher screen was not updated with current rewards. And I hope your not referring to chat zones to be relied upon for news updates.
And you can't claim a reward at 2pm-5pm when the servers are down. If you are going to offer a extended time window to pick up claimable items, don't have it during a downtime.
You don't need to spend "every waking moment". Just the occasional check to see if something posted. Same with all of the... alternate... sites and methods (Twitter) that are used to disseminate STO "news". And only for the window of 5PM 4-13 to 2PM 4-14.
And you don't have to rely on chat for news, you can ask "hey, what's going on? Blog said new items now, but no updates? Am I only one?" in Zone, Fleet, or the "global" of your choice (I'm partial to DOFFJobs, NoP Public Service, and The Science Channel, not a big fan of the numeric and metallic DPS leagues, but I have the 10k levels available when I want)
That's a two birds, one stone play. You get the "news" as part of the inevitable answers to "no, you're not the only one, but since we all knew something would be here for us right now, this is what we found".
I guess as you put it will continue to "miss out". Couldn't have put it better myself.
No Comment. I plead the "if you can't say anything nice..." amendment
Though, for the record, I think the "master blog" was updated within an hour of the giveaway start, two at most - whether or not it was "disseminated" through the launcher or "other channels". That's how I... extra confirmed... the giveaway. After hearing about it because Science Channel was raving about Valdore Console and a NoP denizen was politely repeating the same info what almost seemed like every two minutes when the inevitable login-without-checking-anything-type asked "so what's the giveaway?", led me to look in the C-store under ships (Valdore, specifically, then Koro'Tinga because I already bought the Thunderchild oh so many moons ago) to see the usual "on sale 100% off" text...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Did you read my following posts? Oh wait you did... So what part of the 2-5PM downtime did you not understand? Are you seriously going to argue with me that I had the opportunity to claim during 14th of April? The schedule is flawed if you put a downtime during the promotion. I already told you that I had claimed the previous rewards through the promotion tab. I assumed that it be the same type of rewards. As soon as I realised there was new rewards the following day. It was listed as still being available during 2-5pm and proceeded to log in to claim before the 5pm deadline, to my surprise the servers were down. You will find people on twitter with the same problems and complaints.

Wow, you haven't said one nice thing all day in pervious posts. I'd rather accept a 1 year day suspension than share smilies with pretentious people. I don't use Zone chat. It's horrible and full of the same acidic people that you see here all day, probably like you throwing in the how wrong you are speech. It doesn't change the truth they had a downtime for 5 hrs, during the claimable period.

Good advice. I had, finally, just started playing both a KDF and a Rom character partly because I wanted to be ready for when the next ship giveaway would come up where I could claim something for each faction. Unfortunately, this giveaway happened just a tad too soon for me to get them leveled enough to claim the ships so I lost out. It happens. I might have been able to get my Rom character leveled in time, but that would've meant staying up all night, and I kinda value my sleep just a tad more. I'm not too worried because I know there will be ample opportunities in the future to claim some sort of goodie that comes up. Besides, I still have a nice handful of ships unlocked from previous giveaways that I can still claim on any new characters I create. Any of the C-store ships I have unlocked I'll have to wait until the character is at the right level to claim, but I can re-claim some of the event ships (i.e. Winter Event and Season 11 event) now. In those cases, I the ship(s) come in a box that I won't be able to actually open until I get to the right level, but at least I have them for when the time comes.
These 11.5 giveaways seemed a bit more low-key promotionally, but I think they were delved-out well. There was something for probably everyone. Yes the first couple were not huge giveaways but those type of utilitarian freebies are definitely useful & appreciated. The ending with the T3 ship, though not a T6 was hopefully useful for players too since there was one per faction & being of a lower tier could still be used by potentially two factions. Cryptic actually impressed me a bit on this compared to their selective T6 but to only certain players giveaways exclusivity trending. So many thanks & well done to Cryptic
ALL players have a chance for T6 ship giveaways last I saw. Or do you want free TRIBBLE without having to even play the game ever?
You display how ignorant you are or your selective memory. Cryptic has given away two T6 ships, the Andromeda & the Valiant ... pretty sure, but only to a select few which they never revealed their criteria for giving away & as far as I know only Fed ships & that is what I was referencing. Did they play too much, not play enough, spend a certain amount of money, etc., etc.. Part of Cryptic's trending for exclusivity versus inclusiveness towards players.
So basically your, "ALL players have a chance for T6 ship giveaways last I saw," is exactly the manure you mentioned & incorrect. If you read my post I'm actually thanking them for the recent free items. After all I doubt you denied yourself anything offered for free right?
Did you read my following posts? Oh wait you did... So what part of the 2-5PM downtime did you not understand? Are you seriously going to argue with me that I had the opportunity to claim during 14th of April?
Do I need to?
Before I "counterrant" any further, answer me this question:
If you were given access to a computer with internet access, the STO client, and a functional web browser, could you claim the ships at any point of the day you call 14 April between 0000 and 1400 (inclusive)?
If so, then the opportunity existed, whether or not your... perception... of the sequence of events, obligations, and the choices you made gave you what you consider the "opportunity" to have done so.
The way I'm seeing it, since a chunk (almost half) of the hours in question are generally considered "night" hours, and I'm banking that you're amongst the majority of the population that sleeps at night, I can fairly safely say that if you really desired these ships, you would have sacrificed at most 15 minutes of your sleep - via waking up early - to make a singular check of the blog (which was, if my math and guestimate of your timezone are correct, "updated" before your 14 April, guiding you on the right track of making the claims.
Since only one check of the blog on the 14th was necessary to see the updated information, your statement of "living on ARC 24/7 waiting for the update" is invalid.
Since I'm looking at the entirety of the opportunity being provided, not perceptions of opportunites to engage in the action - your focus on stating that since you perceived your "opportunity" only existed during the maintenance is... invalid - in the light of "my" perception that, with a different choice and the utilization of the above statement, you potentially had numerous "opportunities" - even with the better part of half the window in question taken up by "work" where, admittedly, very few would have the accesses necessary to partake of the provided opportunity...
And, to top it off, I'm extending the potential of my "arguments" to not only encapsulate the being discussed first 14 hours of the 14th, you had 5-6 hours on the 13th as well where the blog was appropriately updated to potentially make a different choice which would lead to the fulfillment of the provided opportunity. Like, oh, say, staying awake for atmost 15 "extra" minutes prior to starting your "nightly sleep"...
Can you logically explain why I should still consider your rants valid?

I am not even going to take you seriously anymore. The servers were down for 5 hrs during the same period of time as the giveaways. Anything else is irrelevant. It was advertised as being available during those hours. You are just giving me straw man arguments. And of course I would need to sleep.... I have a functional life. You might not have one and can stay up all night playing STO 5am-2pm but I can't. I rather not discuss this further with you.

I'd imagine they had the same problem as me. Oh wait... they did the servers were still down during that time! Is there an echo in here?

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
I have thing called work as well.
