This is a place to discuss the ups and downs of PvP today and in the future. You can discuss what you want to see in PvP, why Cryptic doesn't work on PvP, or something else about what to do with PvP.
Be respectful of what other people say! Don't continue to argue someone's point!

This is a place to state facts and opinions.
If you want to say that you want to see a change in PvP or not, head over here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1215631/pvp-improve-or-remove . This thread is no longer for that.
Original post:
Hello! This is a friendly petition for a completely new PvP system in a future update!
If you would like to see a new PvP system in possibly an upcoming season, please comment below. Feel free to comment anything you would like to see in PvP, such as player balancing and new maps.
What I would like to see:
*a balancing system (so p2w people don't roast f2p people)
*new maps- possibly turn all open-world PvE maps into PvP?
*new modes- CP ground, CTF, missions in PvE missions but made for PvP
*(a bit tricky, but...) combo ground and space combat?
Comment below if you would like to see a new PvP in season 12+. And feel free to give recommendations!
Cryptic Studios, we know that not everything is possible, but this is to show what people want in a more friendly way
EDIT
Also, PvP isn't for everyone. I don't think you have to be forced to do it, and I know some people prefer PvE. PvE is also very fun, but please don't comment why you dislike PvP (make another discussion for that)
Now that I think of it, if Cryptic sees this discussion, this might be a major decisive factor about PvP's fate.
Comments
True about the Dev power though.
1-scifi space themed
2-the absolute lack of pvp
I really don't care if a game have pvp or not, as long I'm not on it. The bad thing of pvp is, players don't want pvp, they want to force others into it.
The reason they call it "Pay 2 Win" is that you make your payment to the company, then you go around "winning" all your PvP fights.
And you can't do that in an "equal" setting, you can only do that when you have those without the fancy pay-stuffs to be ran over.
That, and in many a competitive atmosphere getting curb-stomped by the fancy guns is the "best advertising" they have to... coerce... more people into buying what they're shelling out.
So point 1 is fail.
The rest, well, if the PvP community was... vibrant enough and drew in enough $$$, they'd be doing things like that, maybe even (re-)hiring a PvP-exclusive Dev...
Well, except for Space-Ground combo PvP, transitioning between both sectors would be... fairly unwanted - as there's a distinct segment of the playerbase that doesn't like one or the other...
Option 3: Rebalance the entire game around a "PvP friendly" system. Basically, every opponent would need to be turned from a "one or two trick pony that has bazillion hit points" to a "fully fleshed out player-esque mob that can survive on a semi-easily programmed conditional macro".
This way, if a well-built tachyon beam can strip an escort's shields, it'll strip a mob-escort. Player forgets his defenses or situational awareness? That vaper-mob will come down and take him out in seconds... And woe be the science-less and coordination-less team on the other end of a zombie-tank build...

Hello im a player, not a pvp'r but if they revampt it i would like to PVP.
This player plays COD, W.O.T., Mechwarriors online and many more PVP only games, so please don't talk for me !!!
New PVP actions: fight off the opposing team while making sure a distress signal ship remains in tact; maps that include features (nebulas where you lose shields or suddenly gain power?), etc.
Good lord, the strength of this game is that it can take us to places that set designs and construction costs couldn't take us to. LOVE me some STO. bring on the imaginiation.
Remake the whole lot of it in a simple fashion where the sets are premade. Throw in a PvP Reputation or whatever to make it more appealing. Let skill and teamwork dominate. The game deserves to have a proper PvP in place.
Lol, you haven't seen the cheese they've added since you left, and the cheese that's about to hit with S11.5.
To the OP, don't expect a PvP revamp anytime soon. They already have expansions, PvE queue changes, and R&D changes in the works. Can't believe they're tweaking R&D so damn soon, but that's where they're headed.
Maps would have a certain goal, like the battle of wolf 359 the federation's goal would be to cripple the assimilation cube (NPC ship) and player controled borg drone ships tried to engage the enemy and repair the cube.
Or battle of chintoca where the federation's goal would be to take out the automated defenses and player contorlled bug ships.
In other words, certain map goals, in a historic setting with prebuild ships and additional NPC ships.
BTW, balancing could also be what PvE does: has people within the same 10 ranks fight against each other to prevent mkIII vs mk XIII weapons against each other. Or, balancing would automatically match player's level like in teaming up, and would automatically reduce some values in your equipment by x% depending on your current level temporarily. PvP doesnt have to affect characters permanently, however people agree that it is much more fun when no one's cheating or more OP than you.

But you know, punishing PvE AFKers seems to be more important than being able to play PvP)
Oh my! Yes! Have you seen what happens to one of those squishy, high-DPS scimis when they run into an APD-boosted FBP3 spammer like my "Evul Jacob?"
It's...just...beautiful!

I have lost the hope we are waiting since seson 2 for a pvp revamp but I would like to see one so, I would like to have back the old pvp preDr
*a balancing system (so p2w people don't roast f2p people)
*new maps- possibly turn all open-world PvE maps into PvP?
*new modes- CP ground, CTF, missions in PvE missions but made for PvP
*(a bit tricky, but...) combo ground and space combat?
All great ideas, except it'll never happen.
Take "new maps" as an example. The prison facility in the Dominion arc was actually going to be added as a ground PvP map, to the extent there was actually a dev post about it when the featured episode launched. Even though the map was ready, it never happened. That was back when PvP was more "popular".
New modes? We actually had three PvP modes originally. One was bugged and it was removed instead of fixed. That said, top marks to the guy/s who added the small ship PvP queue. Yes, it may not get used, but it was a nice thought.
The most cryptic is going to do with PvP is "forget" about it come the next UI revamp. They'll probably just allow you to make challenge matches. Not because they *removed* the queues, they just wouldn't bother putting the option in the menu (or they'll hide it even more). Does anyone else remember how we had to mess with the HUD just so the PvP scores would show?
As for balance, the game in general is just broken, not just PvP. Hence why there is such a humongous difference between the DPS of an average player (say 5,000) and the hardcore (100,000+). I mean, well done to the 100k guys, but that sort of difference shouldn't exist. The devs were actually shocked by how high people could push the numbers.
Just compare how hard it was to fight Borg in the STFs pre-F2P to now.
Lets not trick ourselves, PvP is essentially dead in this game. There's just a few of us and the odd curious player.
All that said, the devs don't really have much of a choice. I mean, it's easy to blame them and get angry at all the c**p they keep adding, but they need to keep the casuals busy for 30 mins a day and keep the turnover going. The obvious problem is of course that the more they ignore PvP, the worse PvP gets, the less popular it is and the more they ignore it. It was frankly bound to happen when the game shifted to F2P, especially with it's player base. STO was hardly ever a "mainstream" MMO, so the devs are probably constantly desperate to make cash the easiest/less-risky way possible.

It was a feature from the start. I especially loved the ground battles. Then the way it seems it was technically taken from us with exceeding imbalance and more rewarding PvE content. It would be quite mind-boggling to think why anyone would call others to cease lobbying for a feature that was a big part of the game before if I wouldn't know ignorance knows no boundaries. And it's totally unimportant who does or doesn't play PvP at Cryptic. So please, even if you never had the stomach to join a queue, stop asking people to stop asking for a revamping of the most neglected part of the game. Have the courtesy to move on if nothing else.
Yea but its capped...at like what..20k max damage..SO an 80k hit will only see a 20k reflect..
Rouge Sto Wiki Editor.
the prob is its reflacting every cannon hit so you wont get 80k hits back but 5x 20k and that is the TRIBBLE
