I have not been able to play STO at all for the past 3 days; I am able to log in (so long as it's from the launcher, if I launch the client up manually it won't be able to connect to the account server) but it takes forever to show my characters, and once I try to log in I'll either get stuck at the loading screen and time out, OR I'll be able to log in, but unable to do anything (and then get disconnected). Occasionally one or two actions go through after about 3 minutes, but either way the game is completely unplayable. Looks like I'm not gonna get any of the rewards for the featured episode! Or ever play the game ever again.
This is ONLY happening with STO though. My internet is working just as fast as ever, and I can play every other online game without issue. I've been trying everything to get it to work; I restarted my computer, restarted my modem, restarted my router, uninstalled and re-installed the game, uninstalled and re-installed Arc AND the game, added exceptions on all my security programs for both the launcher and the game itself, I even tried a fresh install from Steam (which gets stuck patching).
I tried all the troubleshooting stuff, seems I can't connect to the server! Thanks troubleshooting guide, I had no idea! So useful.
both tracert and pathping simply come up with:
"Unable to resolve target system name patchserver.crypticstudios.com"
nettest just says:
"unable to allocate performance buffer
contacting nettest server... timed out."
I am from California, my ISP is Time Warner Cable. I've never had any issues with STO before, and this is very frustrating. Any ideas?
I also am having a lag issue although it does sound as bad as Cadony's. I am getting enough that it is making the game unplayable. I have searched the internet and the forums and nothing has worked, So if someone could help that would be great.

I found an ip address for the STO game servers in another thread and there appears to be an issue with some of the servers along the route, which is probably what is causing all this lag and rubberbanding.

I could see this if the servers were a set direct path, how ever the internet traffic should automatically route the shortest distance, and in the event that one route is blocked or down the traffic should reroute accordingly. but it could be a case similar to this where the servers getting rerouted causing additional traffic through the servers handling the extra load there fore causing the additional lag and rubber banding, but I would love to get this fixed!!
took 2week break from sto... cause i couldnt handle the rubberbanding anymore, came back yesterday.. still the same.
so heres my tracerts and pahtping..

seems like Cogentco is at it again Cryptic, you ever thought of using someone else to host you?
"I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment... because they'll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we lived" Picard to Riker
well I can see it's not only just Cryptic it's about every other MMO as well, along with a few other companies... Congentco seems to be as bad as Time Warner and Comcast. Since you are in Cali, Cryptic have you ever thought about opening up a channel with Google???

Still having this issue and still have not had any reply from support staff. I stepped away from the game for awhile hoping that this would get fixed. Now after season 10.5 and season 11 patches i'm back and the issue is still not fixed.
Still a 1 to 2 second lagged when in a ground area. I don't seee the lag as much while in space.
Has any one got a fix for this so i can get back to playing the game.
I have bought a new (corded) keyboard and mouse, update all drivers and software, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, searched the web for an answer, and turned off USB power saving mode.
So i fired up my vista laptop and updated STO just to see if i had the keyboard lag there as well; Nope it ran fine on it. So it has to be some setting or thing on the desktop machine.
so i fired up my old xp desktop and had the keyboard lag. Then i fired up my wife's windows 7 laptop and it didn't have any keyboard lag.
So it appears to be something desktop systems.
I've been basically unable to play for most of the past 5 days. There was one day in the middle when things seemed to clear up, but it just broke down again the next day. I'm experiencing similar symptoms to when the server is under a DDoS attack, but apparently nobody else is, so it's got to be on my end. I have SNRs every minute or so, some of which can last for several minutes. I get disconnected frequently as well, especially when trying to change maps.

Ok, so today i updated the bios and bump the system memory from 4gb to 16gb. While this did improve things like program load time and general system response time, it did not affect the keyboard lag any still have a .5 to 1.5 sec lag while in the game.
It's not on your end, darthwoo. I have the same issues. I also did a tracert, and it timed out after the 15th hop. I'm really hoping that Cryptic is trying hard to fix the problem. I just have to say that whatever problem the game is having seems to be smarter than their IT staff. =/
2-3 second delay on just about everything i click on,,,,,,,getting a bit p---ed off now but only minor lag.
I see in space & not on ground,,,,??????
I download a program called Slimdriversfree which checked all my drivers and told me which ones needed updated while that did not fix the issue completely for me i did notice a little difference with the game. I know they always say to update drivers and i wouldn't suggest this (because it is always the first thing out of support staff mouth) but this did help.
BTW: I thought the news drivers for my MB but Slimdriversfree found newer ones. Also when you download Slimdriversfree it comes with Slimcleaner which is not free i just uninstalled Slimcleaner and it didn't affect Slimdriversfree.
So after almost 2 weeks where I couldnt play in any Battle without constant lags (while just coming back after a long time beeing absent from this game and still knowing that the lags are just killing the fun in this game), I started to check ingame via /netgraph 1 how bad the lag is and when its happening. To me its always happening in fights, be it ground or space missions, solo content by replaying Episodes or playing via queue in Grethor or Korfezz or anything else.
Normaly I can play for about 5 minutes without any lag, ping is more or less around 150ms, which is ok as I'm from Germany. Then suddenly the ping skyrockets up to 1600-2000, packages received hop up to rediculous amounts and the next 1-10 minutes i'm just rubberbanding my way through space.
It happens in the morning, midday, evening and night times. Makes no difference there, or at least I havent seen any differences.

So for the last few days i have been doing a lot of web searching trying to figure out this keyboard lag issue; it has really been difficult sence the only time i have the lag is while in game. During my search the one thing that kept coming up was having a good keyboard. So on feb 16th just out of a lack of being able to find any other answer i went out and bought a better quality keyboard then what i had; this did not help or fix the problem. After doing some more reading i came to the conclusion that they were meaning gaming keyboards. I said to my self what is so special about gamig keyboards. So i started looking to find out and here's what i found by just looking: the better ones are programable, most of them are mechanical ( so it sounds like your using an old Commador 64 or Texas Instruments keyboard, you know: clack, clack, clack, clack, clack as your typiing) and here the big one, for a good one your wallet screams in pain.
I thought to myself why should i spend that kind of money on a keyboard: let me give you one ... ** Anti-Ghosting**.
For those of you that don't know what that is let me explain it.
Keyboard Ghosting is when a key fails to respond while you have another pressed or when you press two keys at the same time (Think of it like a traffic jam at say an on ramp for the freeway cars are moving but you cant get on the freeway until you find your opening).
Anti-Ghosting is a feature that some of the nicer (meaning the more exspensive ones) gaming keyboards have ( no traffic jam, no on ramp traffic lights, nice and easy on to the freeway). I can't explain this quite as well, but sticking with the theme i thinnk that's pretty good.
Now i have found a couple of videos on youtube that say there are some budget gaming keyboards out there that have
anti-ghosting. Some that are even less than $50.00.
That all being said, i decided to give a gaming keyboard a try. Being that i didn't want to deal with the whole return and refund issue via the mail i had to ga to my local Best Buy and choose from what they had.
I got three options:
1) actually was two keyboards the Razer Blackwidow Chroma RGB $154.99 and Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 $101.99. While they looked nice they were loud and noisey. (for me)
2) Was the Corsair Strafe RGB MX Silent gaming keyboard $159.99. I took one look at this thing it to small for my hands and it doesn't have the number pad.
3) was the Logitech G910 Orion Spark gaming keyboard $139.99. This is the one I choose ti's nice silent but it's not loud either. Also it always seem to be near or at the top of the list for best gaming keyboard videos I found online.
So iI pulled out the old wallet and after a couple of rounds I managed to choke the money out of it. Got home and plugged it in; fired the computer and let it do its thing, then i download the gaming software for the keyboard and installed it. Then i fired up STO and played for about an hour.
The good news is that i can actually play the game while i can still see the lag when i have my character run and jump it's not that bad. I haven't even programmed the keyboard yet, just using it straight out of the box. I think once i get it programmed and it learns the keys i use the most in STO it might be even better.

I could see this if the servers were a set direct path, how ever the internet traffic should automatically route the shortest distance, and in the event that one route is blocked or down the traffic should reroute accordingly. but it could be a case similar to this where the servers getting rerouted causing additional traffic through the servers handling the extra load there fore causing the additional lag and rubber banding, but I would love to get this fixed!!
so heres my tracerts and pahtping..
please devs take a look..im playing from ireland..

Anyone have any ideas?
So it appears to be something desktop systems.
Hope this helps
Normaly I can play for about 5 minutes without any lag, ping is more or less around 150ms, which is ok as I'm from Germany. Then suddenly the ping skyrockets up to 1600-2000, packages received hop up to rediculous amounts and the next 1-10 minutes i'm just rubberbanding my way through space.
It happens in the morning, midday, evening and night times. Makes no difference there, or at least I havent seen any differences.

Hopefully this gets fixed rly soon. Dont want to see this game again gets "abbandoned" due to lag issues.
Hopefully this helps someone else.
Word for the day is *** Anti-Ghosting ***
