The current version is "Passable" at best. But with the current trend of reworking models to be more canon and higher quality, Gotta wonder when they will extend this treatment to ships that don't have T6 variants.

Assuming a T6 Connie (or even T5) will never happen (and I don't think minds changing at CBS and Cryptic would be impossible on a long enough timeline)... It would likely happen when content calls for NPCs flying Connies. We haven't seen NPCs flying those ships since the Devidian series, Foundry aside. I think a remodel seems like it could be justified by Temporal Cold War missions with NPC versions of older ships, an extra large non-combat pet based on a Connie, a visual expansion to the Admiralty system where we can pit our A-ships against one another in battles with cutscenes (ala WoW's pet battles or City of Heroes' old gladiator system), an increased focus on pet ship mechanics with pet Connies (maybe a Fleet Support bridge officer specialization whose abilities are centered on hangar pets and summoned pets, bringing a WoW Hunter flavor to STO).

These would all support a remodeling of otherwise neglected ships.

The Miranda model is awful as well. Sadly, until there is a way to make a buck off of doing new models, there's pretty much zero chance of it being a thing.

I would love to see the Constitution and Miranda classes receive new models. They are the most distinctive Star Trek ships; it makes sense to make them look pretty. But I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."
