Name a console/weapon/item that is MANDATORY on all ships

I would say the Cutting Beam. Omni with kinetic damage. Seems like every ship ENG/TAC/SCI should have one even if you use cannons and turrets. What other item would you say is mandatory on every ship?

    The plasmonic leach console is considered to be the best console in the game. While not necessarily mandatory, if you're a KDF or KDF-Romulan, then it should be one of your first purchases.

    Mandatory? Not sure anything is mandatory!

    Advised? Definitely a lot of things advised!

    Assimilated module. Bioneural infusion circuitry maybe? I know it's on all my builds.

    Rechargable shield battery, yes it boosts less than a large shield battery but I dont have to craft them or keep them in my inventory to replace when the stack runs out. Love the power boost for my Engie!!!

    Yeah, that was a good one. Have you ever swapped equipment and forgot the impulse engine? Before the quick equip feature, it could mean a very slow trip from the edge of the system to beam to ESD or First City.
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    Nah, I've heard of lots of people hull tanking successfully.

    I'd add to the KCB the Assimilated Module, though.

    Tac Consoles. Given the damage boost your weapons get from them, what else can you slot there?

    Nothing is mandatory, certainly not the cutting beam.

    It's close between that and deflectors, imo. You have a good point, but you can use teleports to move places - and you don't always have to move. No deflector, and you can't cast most heals or sci abilities - much more potentially game-breaking.

    There's no gear that is mandatory on all ships. Even something as nice and wonderful as Plasmonic Leech, isn't a requirement on all ships/builds.

    Almost none, most items are optional on ships. Only the DSD and patrol escort have mandatory items built in.

    Well, here's my thoughts on "mandatory"...

    (1) Space set - Shields, Deflector, Engine;
    (2) Weapons - Hopefully optimized for Item 3;
    (3) BOFFS and Crew - In the right slots with the right skills;
    (4) Ship Devices - Your choice.. I use Satellite Platforms, Red Matter, Aux + another battery;
    (5) Engineering Consoles - RCS, Resists, any to enhance Items (1) - (3)
    (6) SCI consoles - Embassy for Exotic Damage, again to enhance Items (1) - (3)
    (7) TAC Consoles - Specific to damage type for Item (2)
    (8) Female Orion Executive Assistant; for those moments when... Well,, just for those moments.. :O)

    I came close a ton of times in the Samsar. It's the only ship I've flown where I laughed at the Borg shield drain.

    KCB and Leech aren't needed on torp builds or Prtg sci builds, and deflector-based Prtg sci builds don't need tac consoles.

    Serious answer:
    Anything that augments turn rate for cruisers, be it RCS consoles or the Enhanced Neutronium with +Turn available via fleet store. Damage consoles for your weapon of CHOICE. Plasmonic Leech if you're lucky or rich enough (Fed and especially Fed/Rom side).

    And a Warp/Sigularity Core. Kinda hard to go anywhere without one. :p

    I dusted off my romulan...went to sector space...hit transwarp (or whatever)...then when it ran out realized I was barely moving.

    Left my warp core in my other pants.
