not trolling here, but you can solo almost the entire place until the boss...
done it...
generally I run this with three people who i know will work with me on the consoles.
that being said, yes I've seen that troll before and he was so mad he couldn't wreck it, but he tried...
You can try to keep up with them and prevent them from locking everyone else out by killing Ogen solo indeed. Problem is, in the final room you NEED at least two others to keep up with you or you'll find yourself in the room with one or two trolls who have no intention of helping with the consoles.
This week, two individuals were working together in two IGA's I pugged. And apparantly they've been doing so on a lot of occasions, when I did a KAGA afterwards, someone there warned the team of those trolls as well.
Having one troll on the team is bad, but you can try to counter one troll indeed. When there's two, however, you suddenly need literally everyone to be able to rush ahead or deal with twice as much incoming damage (since at least one person will have to keep up with two trolls, meaning only two people get left behind to deal with a larger amount of drones that will get aggroed.) And if one person doesn't hurry at the end, it's basically game over, all effort for nothing.
Yeah ok, there are some funny Gorn jokes and it's probably not the main reason why people are annoyed with zone chat. It's most likely the silly jokes and the tiresome repeating of them combined with all the half-baked political theories (good definition, I like it ) and the insults that's causing those who wish to preserve some of their sanity to close chat.
Now that I'm thinking about it... those who have chat disabled may well be some of the wisest players in the game

I leave it open because it's always the first place newbies ask for help. I find myself regularly answering questions people have asked.
But yeah, any sort of religious or political discussion tends to go full-bore crazy and fast. some of the "theories" aren't even half-baked....
Why disable chat when you can just make a separate window. I have 3 tabs 1st is zone, system and such. 2nd is fleet, tell, team. 3rd is other channels like dps, nop, etc.

I've got Zone on a seperate tab I call "Zone Trollin'" as I sometimes feel the need to see what the trolls are ranting about at ESD. One time someone was so adamant that the Confederate Flag was an official flag of the United States and wouldn't take no for an answer, and insisted that all internet searches were lies when we present evidence to the contrary.
Then we get idiots who go on rather offensive rants...
Gorn Jokes don't bother me as those do take some thought to find where to fit the word Gorn into something to make it sound good, and some of the ones I saw were rather clever. Just about every MMO has some variation of the Gorn Joke, like TOR's Jawa Jokes and WoW's Murlock jokes. I mean... where did Murlocos come from anyways?
Zone Chat is a mixed bag that sometimes devolves into a cesspool.
On Topic... I've seen my share of trolls, a couple of which did come from a member of the OP's community. And if anyone from said fleet goes rabid in defense... A: Ya got a rep. Nothin' you say will change that in the eyes of the forums. B: I wasn't the only one present at the time of these events. and C: It was blatant trolling to the detriment of the team. Appropriate action was taken at said times, cases closed.
As naming specific individuals is outlawed on the forums, no such event will take place here. I WILL however, state that giving specific details on HOW to troll a specific STFs is in rather bad taste, even if its spun to look like some kind of warning. Its OLD news. Most of us Forumites know these vulnerabilities, and would let newer players know if asked in a less dramatic fashion. The only thing I see coming from this thread is scaring newer players looking for advice, which could be considered a form of trolling in and of itself, into being paranoid that everyone they meet in a PUG could be a Troll out to get them.
I've had some bad PUG runs, and I've had some awesome PUG runs. That's the nature of PUG runs. However, Trolling PUGs for one's own amusement is not cool in ANY shape or form.

I think theres a huge trolling going on in Infected Space Normal. Been seeing a lot of players going solo to the right transformer and barely having the dps to kill a generator, but just enough to ensure they do so Nanites spawn whilst the rest of the team are busy on the left. Happening to often to be Noobs.

I'll save you some trouble Rattler. Here is a brief list of responses you will most likely see in response to your post:
- "That's still naming and shaming and against the forum rules."
- "You have no proof/are slandering us."
- "Huh? What are you talking about?"
- "Some people take the game too seriously."
- "We run X giveaways/events/channels so..."
Did I miss any?
1: Meh. No one player was named SPECIFICALLY. I only said that two were a part of said fleet. How can it be "naming" if no specific names are brought up? Besides... they're events that happened over a year ago. First was when the Disco Balls were not limited to Social Zones, and another after we got Spec Points. Old cases already dealt with.
2: "Proof" for them would be then considered naming and shaming, thus an attempt to trap me. And again... OLD cases already dealt with by proper in game means such as reporting to the GM and moving on at the time of said cases. Also I believe they're on my ignore list anyways so with luck I'll never see them in a PUG run again.
3: Likely story. Perps probably got a good laugh and hide behind internet annonimity. (Probably butchered the spelling, but then again its the internet.)
4: *points at the Hardcore DPS people* I'm in it to have fun. But not at the expense of others. If anyone takes it too seriously, its the people who preach DPS.
5: Never disputed that. While they do run giveaways, some of their members do occasionally cause problems in STFs. I have had at least one good STF run with one of them, however combination of reputation and the two incidents I brought up earlier lean towards the "rather not trust them as far as I can throw them" side of thinking. They may have genuine good people, but the few bad apples do tend to taint the batch so to speak.
Anyways... the point of this thread is still rather suspect IMO.

The entire original post is a troll of the people complaining about the problem and I'm frankly surprised THAT hasn't been picked up on
If that were even remotely true, i would have bolded and then italicized preceding text to directly call attention to the fact since I know people don't really pay attention. Excellent try though!
OP brings up very good points that I have spent the last several days reflecting on. IGA/IGE are my favorite ground missions, but with all the trolls running around these days, the mission has lost much of its enjoyment. What there needs to be is a vote/kick system implemented by Cryptic so known trolls can be voted off the map by other members of the team. It will probably never happen, but I think this is a very just and democratic way to handle ne'er-do-wells.
Fortunately, you're in a position to do something about at least some of these trolls
I'm staying out of this one, it looks to be another Green Orion Thread. Besides which, I've never done any of the Omega Ground missions on any level.

Totally honest here... I've NEVER seen anyone from Dental or it's allied fleets EVER engage in ANYTHING I listed. That's because you didn't mention the fact that some trolls use the force fields in the room with Ogen to lock others out. That was done by two of your fleet's members this week, on several occasions.
And indeed, they were using party poppers to celebrate their little victory. And something with Cardassian victims of Bajoran terrorists... and if we were willing to donate 50m EC for those poor victims, then they'd drop the forcefield.

Seeing as a community driven complaint regarding obvious pug trolls who use "ignorance" or "stupidity" as a factor to consistently ruin queues over the course of several years in an age where "Lets Play"'s and walkthroughs are some of the hottest game related videos on youtube...
...and adding to the fact that multiple people have appeared (as they do in most threads) attempting to turn this into a "dental r trole" thread....
And indeed, they were using party poppers to celebrate their little victory.
Party Poppers are an excellent thing to use in celebrating victory, especially on public maps like Earth Spacedock or Risa which have removed the ability to even first person fire your weapons. The Ballons and Tribbles and confetti generated by poppers are some of the funnest things in the game! The fact that you seem to have a problem with their use, especially during a celebration, suggests to me that you're no fun.

But a fun escape from the real world. a place where we can all go to live out Gene Roddenberry's vision of a brighter tomorrow or JJ Abrahms vision of basically a dismal dystopian universe that's slightly worse than now but has shiny tech.

Have you not heard of the metal band PARTY CANNON? They have a fun cartoonish logo which seperates them from other similar bands.. a sure stand out from the random twiglike lettering of competitors!

The Bajorans are a terrible race, just like the Deferi, and should be exterminated from the universe for the plague that they are. The Cardassians were forced into a position where they HAD To occupy Bajor because disorganized Bajoran militias carried out numerous unrelenting attacks on the Cardassian people!

I believe that he was referring to the use of Party Poppers DURING the STF. Not on ESD. Otherwise he wouldn't have brought up Party Poppers at all.
Besides... if they were being used on ESD. How would anyone know unless they came out right next to them in the same instance? It doesn't make sense unless these items were in fact used during the STF.
Not saying party poppers are always bad. Its just that there's a time and place for everything. And Party Poppers during an In Progress STF isn't one of them.
Also... you totally ignored the statement about the 50 mil ECs, which could be considered ransom due to the tactics of rushing in to trigger the force field before everyone else arrives.
