Let Music Play in Background

I'm just wondering if there is an option in the sound controls to let the game play its sound while in the background. This function would be similar to what Blizzard and Guild Wars, 1 and 2, have in their games.

    I usually just go on youtube and a select some music collection I want to listen to or just select some music I have on my hard drive and play that in the background with media player.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
    he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
    In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
    He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
    He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

    Well, I'm referring to STO's in game music playing in the background if I have to Alt-Tab out for some reason.

    Not that I know of. I THINK some people may have recorded or ripped the in game music from their local files, but I don't know.

    Windows key/AltTab -> Spotify

    It also helps to have the game run windowed maximized (makes multitasking very easy, less likely to break STO application)

    Ah, I see. Question: is there any game that has any kind of audio while alt-tabbed? All the examples I have on hand right now don't. This might not be a simple change (ie. with the game and not how windows handles gaming applications), and I don't really understand why this would be necessary (sure, the audio cuts out but let's just say immersion isn't really a factor while you're doing other things. Personally I'd just recommend finding music on (the music streaming application of your choice) and go with that if you want uninterrupted audio. There's even some Star Trek on there...)
