Which ship do you fly in right now and why?

As the topic says, a thread where we can say what ship are flying and basis why we choose to fly it.

Ship: Nova Class / Rhode Island (Fleet Issued)
Why: Always liked the Nova class since I saw those Voyager episodes, I like the look and it has a extra Tactical console for more weapon damage. It is not the best science in the game but it is more to be to have fun then flying the best.

Hopefully there will be a T6 soon with Intel seating.

Fed: Tactical Oddesy with Reman set and romulan plasmas.
Reason: Starfleets ambassador to New Romulus.
KDF: Zombie ship with antiproton build.
Reason: Stolen from the cold dead hands of the Zombies to assist Eldex wipe out all the Zombies.
Reman: Chel Grett with Dominion set and weapons.
Reason: Dominion war veteran who captured a Breen ship that had been retrofitted by the Dominion.

Delta Fed: Quantum and blue phaser themed Tac Oddy.
Reason: A mirror version of my mains first officer and an Andorian.
Delta KDF: Bio-molecular, nanite, and plasma hybrid disruptors on either a Chel Grett or a Negh'Tev depending on the day.
Reason: The Chel Grett was captured defending the Emperor and the bio-disruptors are a symbol of the three power alliance her father was killed by the Iconian for. The Negh'Tev is just awsome.
Delta Romulan: I haven't picked out a ship yet. Still need to level her.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.

Rom engineer: jumping between intel Sheshar & the Fleet Aelahl
Gorn engineer: Qib (to be upgarded to fleet, eventually) becaue it's a monster. battlelcoak, OSS3, SS3 >:)
Vulcan sci: Hestia (soon to be upgarded to fleet) pretty good sciscort and the damn sexiest ship starfleet has to offer. <3

Still in my Nandi since summer event...
It's like a curse in a way, its like "the BEST" "Ugliest" ship I've ever flown !

Getting sick of looking at it, but it's just so good, I can't justify leaving it.
The only time I do, is to level up traits.

My other recent purchases, Astika, Arbiter (Black Friday), Defiant T6 (for the Cannon Trait), Pilot Icarus.

The Icarus is very close to the Nandi in performance, I could probably fly that with equal results (or slightly better). But I like the 4/4 setup with the Nandi, since I've been flying a turret build (with 1 lobi store Elachi Single cannon) for the last month or so, and having a blast doing it.

Only a T6 Wells or T6 Vesta will drag me (kicking and screaming) from it. LoL

    It's just too good.
And what makes the curse a little more painful, is the fact that my paid ships have a hard time even keeping up with it. It is outright better then the Defiant T6 for example. (But I got the Defiant for the design and trait primarily, not performance, I knew it would be a little lackluster when I bought it, its very capable in it's own right, but the Nandi just out guns it).

If only I could use a D'Kora skin on it, I'd be fine with it... But Alas, I have no D'Kora, and I'm not even sure if that skin can be used on the Nandi.
If not that's a bit of a shame.

Fleet Dreadnought T6 because the boff slots are amazing, I don't use and Intel/Command/Pilot junk I stick to the original flavor and I tank fine. I also have a Fleet Exploration Cruiser T6 with the same setup almost that tanks VERY WELL. I stick to things I can last in and do a great amount of damage. my main is an Engineer. Level 60. Almost all of the BoxTraits. selfhealing shiptraits

I jump around a bit, only have one character so I like to mix it up occasionally. For a while I was in the Breen Sarr Theln but felt I wanted to get back to flying actual Federation ships. Was using the Geneva, then Presidio, and currently experimenting with the Eclipse. I don't care about being top-tier DPS so the Fed ships are using [Over] Phasers for faction-matching purposes and because I like to see/hear the occasional overload shot. I definitely plan on experimenting with the Rezreth once I get it, but I'll probably end up back in the Eclipse or Presidio.

Pathfinder. Personally, I like using the aux cannons on my Vesta, but there's little reason to do so in the current meta. That, and the Pathfinder supports BFaW II / Spread I / TT I / APB I (considered the minimal holy set of tactical skills in STO meta) which costs me a lot of my sci-trickery on the Vesta...

Recluse once in a while when I feel pet-spammy, or to "torture" my son with having an "allied" Tholian look while blasting the mission-Tholians...

KDF uses the sci-focused C-store Sci Destroyer, Rommie uses the T5 T'varo T'orp boat...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Fleet T5-U K'tinga Retrofit. Very versatile and yet simple. Classic Klingon apperance. Hoping for a T6 version of this that incorporates the Kamarag neck and split front and Kamarag nacelles. They can keep the Kamarag hull though...too skinny.

    The kremin imperium warship.

It's a beast of an escort with a boff layout I love. I was also able to get 113k dps as a Vulcan with it so there is that.

I change ships often on all toons. Currently still leveling a few ships on a few toons and not in any rush doing so.

Will mention I've been in the T3 Ning'Tao on my KDF main doing a few advanced STFs and battlezones.

Surprising to see how effective it is at its role with very good equipment. Been lucky to have fairly competent pug teams, and I don't mind low DPS groups since then it's an actual challenge.

Why? Best BoP ship skin ever. Was fun bringing a 'rare' ship, keeping the pug optionals alive multiple times (eg. ISA), and often out-DPSing T6 ships using something not designed for DPS in the first place.

The TS spam got excessive, so back in the Kor, but I might try it again on a Rom-kdf alt, cause sometimes often you gotta make your own fun.

Human fed Tac is in an AP cannon Valiant. (because it's the defiant)

Vulcan fed Sci is in a Plasma beam array Temporal Destroyer. (it fits the DR theme)

Romulan republic Tac is in a T6 Mogai using a selection of disruptor and nanite disruptor DBBs and bio-molecular disruptor turrets. (loved the design since Nemesis)

Klingon Tac is in a Risian Corvette (main reason is it's a free ship but also because the design reminds me of wipeout) but also has a Kazon raider which he uses now and again (it's ok too for 1m ec ship).

    The Excelsior.

It recently became a free ship, a new character was waiting to level from 50-60, we got a free upgrade token, I hadn't played a eng-heavy ship or a beamboat in quite some time and I really enjoyed being able to steer a canon design as compared to the raptor, pilot and patrol escort, romulan carrier my other chars are currently using.

    It just fit perfectly

Actually leveling a Fed tac Captain right now (only had a sci one), and planning to be in the t6 chimera. Love the Chimera and its versatility, and it looks awesome. Eventually i might get the Intel Escort, to fit the Stealth theme my character has been going for though (i could easily see him joining Section 31 if it was possible)

Tac Fed in a Risian Corvette speed plasma torpedo boat. Why? Best looking ship in the game and it's a free T5U. Flies fast enough to drag PEP torpedo spreads like the Protector drags mines.

Working on a Delta Tac Fed for the T6 Defiant, Fed Eng for the T6 Mirror Guardian, Delta Sco KDF for the T6 B'Rel, Delta Eng Rom for the T6 T'varo. The Corvette's my favorite one though, even if it is way too fast for the modern park and FAW style of "play".
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Sure, rub it in :p for those of us who were never given proper heads up notice to slot it before made exclusive. Glad you're enjoying it.

Hoping for a T6 Corvette next year. Breen on WW, so Risian ships on Risa.

Ship: Steamrunner (yeah, I bought it)
Why: The ship is so fugly its cute plus it outfitted with every turn rate enhancing console I can find. Its not built for damage, but to keep the target in range until my AP cannons can kill it. But after six months I'm getting bored with it, but I'll stick with it until the T6 Sovereign comes out

I was all for the Corvette (and all event ship) projects to remain available. Exclusivity! isn't a good reason to remove a ship that's been available in a non-exclusive manner. It's a silly reason even for the ships that were introduced after the Exclusivity! kick they got on.

I didn't and still don't care if everyone else has a Corvette, it doesn't diminish mine at all. (see the sig)

I do care that people can't it get anymore.

Fed Sci character drives a Yamato....simply wonderful mix of damage, tank and hangar pets with giggles fun. I also have the sci oddy, the jupiter (fun full on carrier action there) and excelsior

Rommie Eng toon drives the Aelahl...really solid tank and decent damage, but also have the valdore and the Arkif tactical carrier warbird giveaway ship.

My Klingon tac has the choice or the Kurak or the Muathar....i have to say the Kurak edges it in my favourite klingon ship category with the decent damage output combined with a very respectful tank.

Hmm, im flying a few on my toons at the moment but here goes.
Main fed tac: currently swinging between the Elachi sheshar and the Vaadwaur Astika.
I love how rhe Astika looks and had to get it the moment I saw it. And the Sheshar because I love flying my own personal floatilla with all the pets I can have.
Fed Rom Tac: currently in a scim, because, scim. But I'm bored with it after so long so I'm working on a build for the intel warbird, I love the look of this ship.
Fed Sci: currently trialling the new carrier in its fleet form against my usual Sarr Theln. I liked the functionality of the Sarr Theln for a science toon, and I know its a personal taste but I also like the looks of it. The availability of frigates for the Sarr Theln got me out of my fleet Atrox and the availability of frigates for the new carrier has made me give that a shot as its a federation design.
KDF Tac: Was in a Narcine carrier because I love everything about that ship and it looks stunning with all Xindi phasers and elite frigates. But recently been exclusively flying a fleet Mat'Ha, its a cannonboat and SO much fun, even if it does look a bit short, or maybe the nacelles are too big (to my mind).
I do miss my Hirogen ships, I still have them but so seldom fly them. But it was amusing being part of the apparently small "Hirogen ship owners club" lol!
KDF Reman: Scim, easy farming ship for my Delta alt.

Same as you actually, which will be of no surprise whatsoever to some.

Ship: Nova Class / Rhode Island (Fleet Issued)
Why: The Nova class has been my firm favorite since 'Equinox' first aired and the USS Rhode Island, seen in 'Endgame', cemented that even further. I have been using my FT5-U Rhode Island since the very moment it was possible to do so. Several years later and she is still my primary ship and I very rarely use anything else. As you say, she isn't the optimal choice where Sci ships are concerned these days, but she can still hold her own and there will never be a ship I enjoy as much (except perhaps a T6 version).

And on that note, as you say, hopefully a T6 version will appear in the not-too-distant future, although I would prefer that she not receive Intel as her hybrid seat, as I don't see how they could do that without making her a Dauntless clone; I maintain that pilot would suit the Nova FAR better, considering her speed, size and agility.

Funny how most fans of the Nova seem to be in the same state of mind for her. I liked it when I saw it on Voyager, but what cemented it for me was learning that it was based of one of the original Defiant concepts. Which just further suggests a T6 version should be pilot based seeing as the T6 Defiant is also.

My fed main (Tac joined trill with a mirror theme) has been flying a fleet nova for oh... 2 years or so now I think, using the mirror skin and running a torp/exotic build. the torp part is starting to lag behind though so ive been looking to rebuild her for energy weapons. likely [Over] phasers becuase like the earlier poster, I like the faction flavor... and I have an overwhelming force trait box sitting in my bank I can add for free particle bursts, use some high yeild in the tac station and more science damage.

    Fed Eng:
    T5 Ambassador Class
To me this was the best of the traditional design. And the last of this design. Plus I always loved this class of ship.

    KDF Eng:
    T5 K'Tinga
To me this is the legend of the Klingon ships. Always a top favorite.

    Romulan Tac:
    T5 D'Deridex
What is a Romulan without this ship? A must have for any Romulan

    Fed Tac:
    T5 Defiant
I love this tough little ship. Even have the pulse phasers (quads) on it.

Others are lower levels but I will list where I plan to have once they get to high levels.

    Fed Tac Delta
    T5 Kumari
This one is doing the Andorian Theme so this ship will fit her well.

    Fed Eng:
    T5/T6 Galaxy Dread
Doing the Yamato Theme on this one.

    Fed Sci
T5 or T6 Intrepid or some other science ship. I may get the Sci Command Battlecruiser on this one.
I'm not fully sure where I'm going yet.

    KDF Tac
    T5/T6 BOP
I'm not sure yet on BOP, however that will be her main ship.

    Let's see here...

Assimilated Borg Fed Male Engineer - T6 Battleship - It's Fun. I do a Disruptor build using all types of disruptors. As this is my first toon created, I run the classic 2-pc borg with the MACO shield. I mean, it's hard to beat that if you dont have the plasmonic leech, right? Anyhow, I will get the Fleet version, but I've been to lazy to set it up.
Assimilated Borg Fed Male Tac - Fleet T6 Battleship - Also fun, and also using Borg 2-Pc + MACO shield. This toon was in a Fleet T5-U Excelsior for the longest time (A great ship, btw...) and I kept it semi-vanilla by using phasers...however recently I have thrown the Phased Biomatter beams into the mix....it helps out of you're running a phaser build. The battleship is such a greaat ship and the fleet version, even more so.
Alien Fed Tac - Fleet Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit (T6 Excelsior) - I am mixed about the new excelsior, so I use the older skin with the exception of the nacelles. It looks great with the Dyson visualization active. I run a plasma build with it and it can TANK. Holy cow, especialy if you throw in the Kobali console....Dyson Shield, Tholian 2-PC.
Alien Fed Sci - Fleet Patrol Escort T5-U - One may wonder why a sci is in an escort, and I say because "it can be fun?" He runs a DHC build using the Bio Torp set and turret for extra fun, and the Nadion Bomb console as he runs a phaser build, and there's some synergy with that.
Alien Fed Engi - Fleet Patrol Escort T5-U - One of my faves to play - an Engiscort gives some extra survivability...I run the Undine set with MACO shield and Phased Biomatter DHCS and turrets. It's fun.
Catian Fed TAC - Fleet T6 Battleship - Jem Hadar 2-Pc (Shield/Engines) and 8472/Undine Deflector, Total Polaron build, with the a combo of standard and Kobali Polarons, as well as the yellow one that's part of that one set. I enjoy playing it. I may swap to the Delta 2-Pc.
Romulan Alien (Fed) - Fleet Ar'Kif Tactical Carrier Warbird Retrofit - I love the looks of this ship, in which I used ADAPTED MACO for extra torp damage, but it has a glass jaw. I may go back to his Jem Hadar Escort Carrier.
Romulan (KDF) - Benthan Assault Cruiser - I wanted to do something different. Even though the Benthan Ship is ugly and flies backwards, it was (at the time) the cheapest T6 ship I could buy for my Delta Recruit (At the time, around 65 Mil on exchange) I use the free Kobali set with plasma weapons and I must say, I really like this ship. If you ignore how ugly it is, its pretty much like an Excelsior, and very nimble for a cruiser.
KDF (Klingon) - Jem Hadar Dreadnought Carrier - Speaks for itself....Like I've said 1000 times in this post: so fun! Runs KHG 2-pc and 8472/Undine deflector with Elite Slavers. It's still a beast to this day with a pure AP build.

I switch them up from time-to-time to keep things fresh.
