Don't blame us because you have the mind of goldfish.
I don't blame you for the game's idiotic low percentage for winning this ship, unless you're a dev, however, I blame you for being an insulting douche.
Go home, OP, you're... well the forum rules won't let me say. Go home, OP.
Wow, because someone gives harsh criticism about your beloved game, you think it gives you the right to act like a xenophobic moron. Let me guess, you thought it was a cool game or you were attracted because of JJ's films, because you don't know that this game's greed-first policies goes against everything Star Trek....
Anyway, I have had a lifetime subscription since 2012, so I am home, mother#$%^er.
Personally, I feel it's stupid getting angry over the fact that you put too much money into trying to get one of the herald ships and didn't get it. It's not cryptic's fault for you not getting the ship. There are plenty of people who play the lockbox lottery. If they get a ship, great for them for supporting the game. If they don't, they may make enough in Energy credits to buy the ship they want.
I'm sorry you spent so much money trying to earn the ship OP and need to vent out your frustration. But remember that when you're opening lockboxes that you're NEVER guaranteed a ship.
You made this too much of a cash grab. You must have made it one in a million to get the vonph carrier. You could have made money with your ships and other things.
Gotta say, Perfect World, kinda shady, even for you.
Not sure how this is any different to any of the other lockboxes?
Trust me, it's very different.
I don't see it. Granted, Cryptic/PWE don't state the odds, but I sincerely doubt that they made the odds of winning the Vomph any different to the odds of winning any other lockbox grand-prize ship.
I have won most of the other ships by opening boxes. Trust me, I didn't spend half as much as I am currently.
So you got lucky, doesn't mean you're entitled to getting lucky every time.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Okay - really not sure how 'go home' translates into xenophobia?!
What bearing do JJ's Trek movies have on anything? If they generated interest in STO, surely that's a good thing?!
As for the 'Lifetime Sub' comment; you appear to have entitlement issues. Namely, between the subscription comment and the complaints that you didn't win the ship despite how much money you threw into the gambling machine, you think that spending large sums of money on the game elevates your status or something. It doesn't.
First of all it sounds like it translates to "USA: Love it or leave it" kind of deal like you should shut up or leave the game
Secondly, JJ films are not the way Star Trek was. It's basically more like Star Wars with Star Trek's skin (not knocking Star Wars, I like Star Wars, but just not when I am watching Star Trek).
Lastly and why should I not feel some degree of entitlement if I spend enough money?
If they don't, they may make enough in Energy credits to buy the ship they want.
But that's a part of the problem NO ONE IS SELLING THE THING ON EXCHANGE. Every-time I go there...nothing....or at least nothing but ships I either already have or not interested in getting.

The whole sell keys for TRIBBLE EC is a complete joke IMO, it only better serves the already EC wealthy, in opening more lockboxes cheaper.
Keys IMO, should be fetching 10mill easily, but people would sooner sell them at less than half of that, so it's on you when it comes to the whole gamble TRIBBLE of boxes.
Because even the lobi isn't worth diddly TRIBBLE, not when it takes hundreds to get most of the store stuff, costing you an easy $50+ in zen!!!
Hey OP,
Not saying I like Lockbox odds, or anything of the like.
But 300 boxes opened = (minimum) x4 Lobi = (minimum) 1200 Lobi
That's "at least" a nice chunk of the Orange crystals. You can get yourself a nice Lobi ship and still have some leftover for other stuff in the shop.
Just take this as a lesson for the next time.
Want the ship guaranteed ? Buy it from the trade channel.
Want to try your luck ? Or really need Lobi ? Open boxes.
Lesson learned, but frankly I'm surprised you never knew this, or didn't consider it, since you've been around for quite some time.
Maybe you thought you'd luck out ? Or maybe after 100 keys you decided you were in to deep, so you kept going....
Well, just remember this next time you have the urge to try the lockbox game.
But again, "at least" you have the lobi.
It's not much, but it is "something". And something useful it is.
Myself personally, I think it's complete BS how they get around gambling laws (circumvent), by making the "Lobi" the item you're paying for, while the chance at ships is a secondary chance at something.
So, lockbox legality is solid, and pretty bulletproof. You can blame the lawyers for that.
But nothing we could do about it. But accept it.
There is another factor that may be inflating ship prices too: the EC supply has made a major jump for people doing Admiralty. It's the same thing that happens when you print money.
IMO the one time when it's OK to do lockboxes is when ALL of the following conditions are met:
A) You want Lobi
B ) You are completely OK if you don't get the ship
C) You want a large portion of the non-ship prizes--even the stuff like DOFF packs and boosts (not a bad deal if you have at least one less-developed toon you'd like to shortcut some grind on)
D) You have thoroughly researched the heck out of the stats of anything, ship and non-ship, that can come on the box and you already know without a doubt that you will not have ANY buyer's remorse with what you get
D) YOU HAVE A SET BUDGET AND DISCIPLINE ENOUGH TO ADHERE TO IT.
I did it before I went entirely F2P, but on those four conditions and I have not regretted my Dromias (or the TONS of Undine space and ground stuff that toon uses) once. I still use all of that stuff happily to this day. I viewed it as not just a Lobi ship purchase but a complete space weapon loadout, ground kit and DOFF overhaul, and grinding shortcut. Some stuff still went up on the Exchange but I used a lot of the loot, including stuff people consider "booby prizes" (i.e. not a ship).

The exchange only goes up to 500 million EC. You won't see things on there that are priced more than that amount.
This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

^ You must remember this in these days, the good ships never sell on the exchange. If they are posted, even @500mil they WILL get snapped up instantaneously.
All the premium ships are 500+ mil, so you gotta go through the trade channels, or ask around at ESD.
The Herald lockbox did something new; it incorporated a Promo-level ship as an ultra-rare ship, along with the usual Lockbox ship. There's also a lot more general goodies, so rates are even worse.
In exchange however, there's no consolation ship equivalent of the T5 or Mirror ships. And because of the altered reward list and promo-level starship vs past lockboxes, the drop rates are different given the cost of a Key vs the cost of a Promo R&D or Promo Doff box.
So on one hand, the Herald box has far more goods. On the other, it takes far more keys to get the goods. Someone did the test with about 1000 keys on Tribble, several times before trying in Holodeck. Overall drop rates for the ships are worse than a separate Lockbox ship and separate Promo ship. But the advantage is that unlike Promo-ships, the Vonph will always be available as a chance reward a year from now from the Herald box.
IMO the one time when it's OK to do lockboxes is when ALL of the following conditions are met:
A) You want Lobi
B ) You are completely OK if you don't get the ship

This is exactly how I look at lockboxes. If i've got some spare zen i'll maybe buy a few keys and chance my luck but I know full well i'll probably not get a ship.
The only time I ever got a prize ship was with a Vaadwaur escort and it took me 20+ keys, the equivalent of nearly the price of a c-store ship. I knew i'd have little chance and only got it on the last key, but the discipline was there to stop once i'd run out of keys and also I got a fair whack of mining claims etc that more than made up for the cost of the keys.
Lastly and why should I not feel some degree of entitlement if I spend enough money?
You should not feel some degree of entitlement if you spend money on this game because you are not sponsoring Cryptic, PWE, any of the individual developers, CBS, Roddenberry's family or anybody. You are buying a product. If I go to the supermarket and buy every piece of peanut butter, bread and meat they have, what does that entitle me to? To own said peanut butter, bread and meat. Nothing more, nothing less. This has been said countless times by developers and players alike.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an LTS with plenty of C-Store ships in my Admirality. All the money I spent for that has entitled me to own that, not to anything else.
What we as players can do on these forums is to offer ideas and feedback, in a constructive manner, and be willing to discuss said feedback with fellow players and the occasional Cryptic/PWE employee. We are not here to start a massive flame fest about how buying x lock box keys should entitle you to earn that ship, attacking anybody who disagrees to you in a very hostile way indeed. Like the math shows above, you are around 52% chance of having won that ship. We can also calculate at what amount of keys your chance would be 99.99%, but I have a feeling you are not going to like that number. And it will still Always be a chance. Not a given.
If you want to spend zen in this game and guaranteed get a ship in return, you got 2 options, and 2 options only. Either buy C-Store ships/Fleet ship modules for Fleet Ships, or buy items to sell on the exchange to get the energy credits required to buy the ship you are interested in. And those are the only two guaranteed rules.
Disagree with them? Here are your options. Either make a non-hostile post about this subject (which past experience taught me won't change the Lock Box system, its been like this for 3 years), or you decide not to play by these rules. Which means not opening lock boxes. Which is what I do, since I don't like the lock box system and know damn well that complaining about it on the forums isn't gonna make Cryptic/PWE stop milking their number one cash cow.
So that brings me back to my first post in this thread. Don't like the lock box system? Don't use it.
IMO the one time when it's OK to do lockboxes is when ALL of the following conditions are met:
A) You want Lobi
B ) You are completely OK if you don't get the ship

Yep, the mining claims do help to offset some of the expense, IF you have the discipline to use at least a fair number of them during Dil weekends.
But for me the fact that I was doing a FULL gear and loadout overhaul on that toon meant that the stuff in the boxes was going to be of greater worth to me. Either way I was going to walk out of it with my toon in a better position than when he started (he was significantly undergeared and in a ship I couldn't stand, before). That money I spent was essentially a means to circumvent timegating and grinding that it would've taken to do the same thing. Being completely blunt, I was paying to hit the Instant Gratification button--but if you KNOW that's what you're doing (NOT "I'm going to get a ship" but rather "I want a new, premium loadout, better DOFFs, and quick marks/dil/XP NOW") AND you can stick to your budget, that's not a problem.
The trouble is a) lack of discipline, b) lack of understanding of the laws of probability, and c) lack of restraint on instant gratification, which leads to gambling addiction.

Then where is that money going to, Obama? Get real some of those parties you named are getting this money. So yes, I am supporting them.
@pwlaughingtrendy can you please come ban this moron? He's damaging my mental calm.

My only real issue with the lockbox is that for the weapon we only have the two staffs for the herald weapons, and i was hioping to be able to get the defiler's mace weapon as the assualt mini-gun/cannon varient of the weapons as well (even it was also a lobi item.).
